The fact that he spent the time to print a 3D loaf of bread just for a 2 second bit is very commendable
Plot Twist: It's bread
I think he made that bread years ago when he was a noob in 3d printing
I'm sure he printed it for many other use cases and just included it in the bit. I mean, the usefulness of a 3d printed loaf should never be underestimated.

You sure it was fake, I know Lucky Palmer inventor of the Oculus platform made a portable gamecube.
I saw that photo in a magazine when I was twelve and went straight to the store asking for it. The employee stocking the shelves thought I was nuts. Thank you for making this real!
Do you remember the magazine?
@@PowerTower694 I think it was Nintendo Power.

Hey man, just look at it from this side: not only did you create a portable Game Cube, you at the same time built a portable Wii. That's double awesome!
wait isn’t the wii u portable
@iman4548 Not in the truest sense of the word like the Switch. Sure you can play(some) games on the game pad but that's a limited range and still REQUIRES the actual system itself, which isn't exactly portable(or atleast not in a usable form like true portable consoles)
@@regalmammoth5670you can still technically bring a wii u with you in a car and keep it turned on with a power bank, then just play it using the game pad
of course, even then that doesn't mean that it's portable as it would be just like bringing any other home console with you, but the wii u definetly feels the most portable out of all he home consoles
@@iman4548No, not at all. It was Nintendo's desperate attempt at a portable home console, they only accomplished this with the current one the switch, I haven't seen it for a long time but recently I bought a Wii U to mod it, the console itself is surprisingly big, looks.... Somewhat similar to a v2 wii

True, true.
Yeah but the wii had motion controls, and the GameCube didn't

@@senseal5462 Hi Senseal, I figured I would check if this one was able to use a disc drive on a modern portable but at least it looks really cool. 😅
It's funny seeing you here too bro.
this mock up at 2005 was already later than the psp
This video brought me infinite nostalgia. These "fake" renders are already part of the history of videgames, in magazines, forums and all internet.
i love how you adjusted the volume of the backing Lake Hylia track from Four Swords Adventures when you moved the volume slider lol. Amazing touch. Almost as amazing as the rest of the portable
(Also sorry to nitpick but the bumps on the render dont potrude out the sides and the sides are completely flat... Not that it matters cause this is an incredible build)
Man i love how much time you put in this video, liked/subed
The weird round corners are for the 'laptop' style lid to be easier to open - in the renders, it's pretty clear that the top front edge is straight across, and UNDER the top edge is where the lip starts to dip in. Like the little notch on the bottom half of a macbook, except allllll the way across. I don't know the technical term for it but it's a very common design in folding devices, a spot for the thumb to catch and pop it open much easier in comparison to, say, the SP/DS Lite, which had no such thumb notch.
Interesting, that makes a lot of sense. I thought that the shape was based on the N64 for some reason, but your logic makes a lot more sense.
@@GingerOfOz I think it's interesting how the worlds of visual design / mockups and physical design / prototypes clash so strongly. As you mentioned, the shape makes it unusual to hold, and it definitely was designed by someone focusing on aesthetics. Perhaps it's preaching to a choir to say this, but I feel like it would actually be incredibly interesting to see you, Shank, or someone similar take a crack at re-making this, but with the focus leaning heavily on modernising/optimizing it, rather than trying to realistically copy the original look. This would certainly make some things easier - the hinge comes to mind for sure (and as someone who's built/owned/modded over 2 dozen DSes, that hinge nintendo uses is absolutely dreamy haha)
All I can say is this is the most awesome video I've ever watched. I am now a follower of you man can't wait to see more. Sad your not selling this one but maybe someday.
@@malice5121 It's weird to hear that, because I've modded/owned over a dozen DS Lites (still have one from launch and 2 from within a year after that) and literally none of them have had hinge failures, maybe you're just being too damn hard on your equipment?
@@malice5121 Yeah I've never had my 3DS hinges break with all the shit that happens to them. They got squeaky after I dropped it but that just went away after I stopped using it for a while then went back to it.
For the first 9 minutes of the video I almost thought that today was gonna be the day I saw a modern portable with a disc drive Lmao. Great stuff!
I think somebody is making one for the memes, but I don't know if they're done with it.
@@xdragoonzero0 I have an unfinished ps2 portable with a disc drive on the workbench, but it’s been a while since I’ve worked on it. It’s 100% possible, even if impractical
Sorry to dissapoint, maybe if Miyamoto hops on board for the next build we'll make it happen.
@@jonnyb9843 I think in this precise form factor this is virtually impossible. Needs a lot more space for the track of the laser, the small motor must take quite a bit of space as well. Plus add some physical overhead to be able to insert discs like the Wii does (and the extra mechanic to suck in/eject discs).. If the handheld opens, you may get around it. Maybe if you get rid of the battery, still not even sure. And more importantly, the alignment of the optics seems really easy to mess up if you are going to assemble such a small disc drive. Would be an amazing feat.
Anyway, I'm baffled the Wii can be trimmed to that extent. That build is wild, and about the battery that's absolutely not a low-power device to begin with so 1h30 is amazing!
I honestly think it's possible, but the thing would probably be a bit *wide*
Not necessarily thick though, you could probably cannibalize a disc drive from a Dell Optiplex, they come with some pretty thin disc drives.
Only real issue would be to solve the problem of discs getting scratched while moving the handheld around, maybe sticking some small bits of foam in the drive to prevent the disc from hitting the top or bottom? They'd have to be really low profile. idk but that'd be the hardest part.
Props to this guy. This is the direction console technology should go in. Decrease in size and simultaneously making it very possible to make older ones portable. Well made vid

woah didn’t think the myth the legend would like mocs
what happent
they exist! dvd camcorders have drives that already fit in a handheld device, I don't know if they can be made to read gamecube discs but it would be fun to try.
The issue would be game disc reading. If games were as simple to read as putting them in a disc reader, piracy would be much easier. That's one layer of defence gone.
So yeah, you need the specific disc readers to read these discs.
if he made it a bit thicker, he could maybe put a small motor and laser to read discs and use a shrunken disc reader motherboard, i think it's possible, or make the disc reader behind the screen, but the challenge comes when sliding the disc in, he could do it psp-way and make it open when a button is pressed then put the disc.
