Myanmar - How the Chin are fighting the Junta | DW Documentary

  • After the military coup in Myanmar in 2021, the Chin ethnic minority took up arms. The Chin people are fighting to defend their territory, their identity, and their democratic principles against the junta.
In the mountains in the remote west of Myanmar, a bitter war is raging. The Chin, a primarily Christian minority, still control most of the area after putting up a fierce resistance against the Myanmar military.
The resistance fighters train in the mountains along the Indian border. Hundreds of young people gave up their jobs or studies to join the battle. Although they’re equipped with little more than light weapons, they’re determined to stand their ground. But the civilian population is paying a high price for the war. Thousands of villagers have been bombed by the junta, their homes destroyed. Many have been forced to flee. Nevertheless, the Chin remain committed to the fight to overthrow the military regime.

Hi.. You should also call back your brother and sisters illegally staying in Manipur. Instead of settling in peace they create problems snatching lands from the indigenous Nagas and Meiteis.
I hope you all defeat Junta..
And we also want peace in Manipur,
Refugees massacring the indigenous Nagas and meiteis and grabbing lands is an act of psychopaths.

This means nothing, look at Afghanistan . The northern alliance made peace with Islamic in Afghan, after they killed or took over Afghan they then went on to destroy the alliance. The Chins are likely the same result. You cannot have freedom as long as the Junta is in power. Once they win the civil war, they will destroy all opponents. Regardless of your "free status" or agreements. Only 2,000 units out of 500,000 people is weak. At least 10,000-20,000 and begin attack. I don't see a future with 2,000 soldiers. And those wanting "peace" will probably not get it. As long as the Junta is alive, you will be destroy!

No one in the world has ever fought for democracy. These are fairy tales for gullible children. All wars are fought over the possession and control of resources. Chin State is rich in rare earth minerals and also ranks first in opium poppy production, surpassing Afghanistan. The M6 assault rifles mentioned in the video indicate Western patronage. Who sponsors this region with weapons? - guess for yourself. One of the goals of the so-called “democratic” West is to divide Myanmar into parts and take over them, extracting cheap resources from the bowels of the earth. We Christians, the humblest and the meekest, prosecuted and pressed down throughout history, burnt alive and eaten by lions for Roman sports, yet we stand strong in Faith that what awaits us is far more precious and all encompassing of everything that's on the earth which God has prepared for us, His precious children!! In light of eternity, our life is but fickle and transient and we'll dwell in our Father's house forever! I understand it's tough for all the Christians around the world but take heart, God is with us, through trials and sufferings, in happiness and sorrow. Christian prosecution is even happening blatantly in the West, increasing everyday...we can't do anything against the principalities of the darkness but only believe in the one who can and will destroy it, Jesus Christ! It's hard to imagine the loss and trauma from all this though but I'm sure God will help face this situation.

And if NE would have been a part of china , then yes NE would be better economically as china is rich , but Chinese would have integrated all of u forcefully into the Chinese society.
Still today, indian central government funds heavily , roughly 70%+, to the states budget of all north eastern states except maybe Assam .
And most of North East states , can't survive on its own as it's a landlocked land and it needs to be part of either india or china to survive 🤷
And personally I don't support this policy of reserving land . That is also one of the reason why North east state don't receive any private investment and the entire pressure comes on the central government.

      in Myanmar,
So many Christians are being murdered right now!
We must stop the heinous war crimes of the Burmese military and the Burmese Buddhist militia, made up of 100% Buddhist fanatics!
      Brainwashed by Buddhist Burmese nationalism,
Even at this moment, the Burmese enjoy killing with indiscriminate airstrikes and shelling towards the civilian villages of the Chin, Karen, and Kachin, Christian tribes in Myanmar...
      From these demonic Burmese,
Protect these beautiful Chin, Karen and Kachin brothers and sisters, and save them from the guns and swords of the heinous Burmese!
Burmese Buddhist monks who rule the spiritual world of the majority ethnic Burmese in Myanmar...
They are instigating that "non-Buddhists are like lower animals, so even if they kill and slaughter millions of people, it does not violate Buddhist law"!
Armed with Buddhist Burmese nationalism to seize the vast underground resources of the territories inhabited by ethnic minorities, the Burmese,
They are killing so many innocent ✝ Christians with concentrated bombing and air strikes mainly against Christian minorities!
May the Burmese Buddhist militia and the Burmese military, which are now 100% Buddhist zealots, enjoy the most heinous killings, repent in Your time and way so that they may receive You!
Christians from all over the world to achieve the dream of all minorities who want independence, such as Chin, Karen, and Kachin.
Let the 12 million Christians in Korea wake up, pray, and help the Lord like the Good Samaritan!

To be a civil war, there is a civilization divited and warring against each other; in Myanmar, we, the civilians against the military junta.
That probably is why the junta see all the civilians as their enemy and committed (still committing) all those atrocities against the unarmed civilans.
It is the revoution against the military junta.

Manipur is a state in north-east India with a population of more than three million. It has been embroiled in an ethnic conflict since early May, fought between the majority Meitei community and the minority Kuki tribe.
The violence was sparked by a court ruling in March that granted the majority Meitei “scheduled tribal status”, entitling them to the same economic benefits and quotas in government jobs and education as the minority Kuki.
India’s north-eastern states have a history of ethnic rivalries dating back to before the country became independent in 1947. In Manipur, violence has erupted between the Meitei and the Kuki communities several times before.
Tensions have recently flared between the two communities again, driven in part by the Meitei-controlled state government. The government was accused of pursuing policies that discriminated against Kukis, including forced evictions that threatened the security of their land.
It also allowed Meiteis to buy land in the hills, where the Kukis predominately live, further fuelling fears that their lands, jobs and opportunities would be taken away.
This prompted protests, mostly by Kuki student groups, which were met with violence. By early May, it had escalated into all-out violence between Kuki and Meitei groups.
In the state capital, Imphal, Meitei mobs targeted Kuki homes and attacked Kuki people who tried to flee the city for the hills, where they control much of the land.
The ruling was later stayed by the supreme court, which called it “factually wrong”, but by then the conflict had already taken hold.
The state was swiftly bifurcated along ethnic lines, with the Meiteis in the valley and the Kukis in the hills, each defending their territory with their own militias, bunkers and sandbags, with a buffer zone created in the middle.
To enter the territory of the opposing tribe was soon considered to be a death sentence. Much of the violence has been fought with thousands of weapons stolen from police and army barracks.
As fake news and misinformation circulated, claiming that Meitei women had been raped and killed by Kukis, it was reported that Kuki women were being targeted in revenge attacks, which included rape, torture and assault. There have also been several reports of beheadings.
The clashes have renewed and strengthened a longstanding demand by the Kukis for their own separate state, and Kuki groups now say they will not stop fighting until this is granted. The Meitei community and the state government fiercely oppose the creation of a separate Kuki state.
The Kukis are also demanding that the Manipur chief minister, who is from the Meitei tribe, steps down, and they have shunned the “peace committee” set up by Shah, which the chief minister is a part of.

      It is around 14k+.
In 2021, the mizorum state government said in parliament that they have 14k people from Myanmar in mizorum state of india and there are 7 states in NE india , so i expect total numbers to be greater than 14k.
Also these figures are of 2021, i expect even more people in 2023

@@sidy6526 oh bro, the source I read from must have mis-typed just 4 against 14.
      - By Personal experience, in Lucknow itself there are Rohingyas settled. They work as rag picking, and as house workers saying they are from Assam but the way they r attach to their religion, doesn't give a Indian essence- their attitude isn't of what an Indian poor/ rag picker would hold.
      - Earning income here, they have bought small plots of land too actoss North eastern states: this is where state govt's, including NRC rolled Assam have failed to counter refugee from buying land in territories itself. Problem is they all buy slowly in nearby villages. Don't know whether this change is good or not seeing Nuh stone pelting cases
