  • Naing Myel Htet Kyaw says: “We must take up arms. My parents support that.” The 18-year-old is fighting against the military in Myanmar.
He’s one of the youngest in the rebel force that has taken shape since the 2021 military coup in Myanmar. Many of those flocking to the armed resistance are quite young. Some have traded their school uniforms and classrooms for arms and a jungle camp to carry on the struggle against the country’s military rulers. They see themselves as essentially pro-democratic forces, but they haven’t hesitated to resort to brutal guerilla tactics. Dennis and Patrick Weinert report from the embattled rebel territories and meet up with fighters at one of the resistance’s secret bases.

@@redwanulislamuk1347 As a Burmese citizen, I would beg to differ and defend our side.
Burmese education has been under control of Military Government. Only some of the population ever knew how to use social media or watch news. Its not the restrictions, rather its the poor quality of provided education.
I do admit that some of us truly did not care but only cuz the youth were told to "mind their own business".
*Most of our ppl were too busy dealing with poverty to care about anything else* .
Even if we do acknowledge, Myanmar is pre-democracy which means that freedom of speech only hold small power.
Insulting the leaders are no-go(you would be searched and arrested) and *opinions are usually ignored by the Government* . Everytime we tried to rise up, *we were met with Baton and guns; even the monks were NOT spared from brutal beatings*
It was never a consented silence.
It always has been a true blind eye and forced silence.
You say that our silence worked against us.
The army control has always been there, way before the slaughter.
No matter how high you status is;rich or influencal, we simply cannot defy the current leaders.

"She was a simply a fool for thinking these Burmese generals would agree likewise."
She believed(not lied to, just hoping for better nation in the future) in current Myanmar.
If she doesn't take a stand for them back then, she may not have access to lead her democracy party.
