Wrapping a car canât be that hard right?
A full-colour change on a car can be THOUSANDS, but a wrap in that colour is pretty cheap - HOWEVER, youâve gotta pay someone or learn to do it yourself.
So Will and I - as two COMPLETE beginners are going to attempt to wrap our âRace Carâ Subaru in 24 hours. However - there are stakes.
Weâre trying to beat a Supercar with only ÂŁ15 grand budget, and currently weâre sorting some engine mods for the next episode.
BUT - we canât beat a Lamborghini looking like THIS. Carscoops even described the Scooby as âclapped outâ. So weâre wrapping it.
If we get it done in 24 hours - we get to keep the wrap for free. But if we donât it comes off our budget for mods - and we REALLY donât want that.
This isn't a full episode of the MORE FAST series, but we're working on something BIG for the next one, so please do bare with us!

Hi guys, Iâm the old git (61)who owned this car from 2017 then gave it to my son who then sold it on in 2021ish. Sorry about the paint on the rear bumper ,a rattle can special which is about as good as your wrapping on it. The clutch has always been high and Iâm not surprised that itâs gone. Iâm amazed the engine is taking the abuse as it was starting to use oil when I had it. Itâs brilliant what you are doing , keep it up. I would name it âLambo slayerâ well hopefully. Jim
And I am the said son. I am very impressed with what you guys have achieved. Amazing work. I can't wait to see what else you guys do!

This channel is brilliant. This is the exact crap DIY that my buddies and I would do when we first got our cars. Bumbling through it like toddlers. Fellas, keep at it. It's so refreshing to watch. Your honesty speaks volumes.
I can't wait for this channel to be full on top gear all three of the hosts have great charisma and aren't cringe. And the projects are engaging
Yeah, youtube Top Gear is back.
Perfect name for the series
YES
I love the similarities like they speak in British accent and so on, it fits a lot
Itâs like top gear but starring people i would actually hang out with

I feel like "Bananaru" fits pretty well with the new wrap.
I thought I was so original when I came up with that name in my comment but the second I sent it I saw this comment
Or Subanana, I guess. Subananaru?
Or Bananarooo
Yep
I struggled to come up with anything and the second i thought i got a good idea i checked the comment section and found this
My creativity is at a level so low that it honestly gives me depression
@@Namington yeah
Or maybe even Subanaru
Shorter, easier to pronounce even tho the banana is not quite there anymore
But everyone would still have an idea what it means
I really hope this channel blows up. You guys are good fun, better personalities and come up w/ much more interesting challenges and content than many similar channels.
Smoke me a kipper!
This is a really brilliant topic, Iâm really into track cars and track days, living on an island makes it difficult so this helps! Stage by stage development in this form is brilliant viewing given the goal. Really looking forward to the rest of this, I have my fingers crossed on the budget build, I recon itâs going to be close either way.
They live on an island as well đ đ
I wrapped my car recently... 100% agree that it's both most frustrating and most satisfying work at the same time.
Love the fact the Subaru matches the SLK now
Question is, are they going to spend any of their budget on custom aero too? Long tails work for McLaren so why not a ropey old Subaru estate!
The first car I wrapped was my uncle's C6 from white to yellow (Avery Dennison)!
It was just the two of us and it took us two weeks. Mon-Fri was from 6pm-10pm. Weekends was noon to midnight. It was an incredible experience and I've gone to help wrap more cars with a friend. You guys did great!
Absolutely floored with how the final look turned out. Scott's "present(s)" made it all the more worth the work!
A quite fitting name could be Rumblebee. Explains itsself I guess?
Seconded
Already used for an official model by Dodge

Will is just like Clarkson with the classic Clarkson line "How hard can it be"
Oh wasn't that what Clarkson had said back in the day?
Honestly impressed you guys knocked it out in 24 hours. My first time was doing it outside under trees, so was constantly washing and making sure the prep did it's job. Aside from working on this throughout the week, it took me about 6-8 days to do myself.
Do I have to sand down the car in order for wrap
@@ruckert4p160 if you have rough surfaces I would suggest it for those areas. after laying down the wrap, there were some area by the side skirt that I sanded but not 100% that still showed through. This goes for any dents you may have as well
We are waiting for the next video of the subaru series
Started off pretty shocking but not a bad end result, Iâm Imprezed
Good pun đ
Keep it simple, call it the SuBee. Bonus points if you add some black stripes.
Itâs been 3 weeks, I was expecting a more performance focused episode lol but wrapping is fine I guess ! đ
There's no logic behind how often they post. This was an anime filler episode for sure. Not related to the plot at all lol.
Thereâs one hidden video in the playlist⊠do you know which vid that is?
It looks so good! Like you said, prep is king. I think if you had primered and sanded the bumpers first, you might have had an easier time with the wrap. Great job, though!
Tbh im really surprised how well u handled the wrapping process. It looks amazaing for me, those bad spots doesn't really matter because u did it without a lot of help and that buys me.
Quadlock is actually amazing. Arm band and one for my bike. 10/10 approve that advert
Looks class boys! Loving the series, when will you guys be releasing the next video, I think weâre all anxiously waiting for the engine mods! đ
Such yes! I think they are making us wait until they *nail* it.
that looks epic, great job for complete novices at this, at I had a go at a mates wrapping shop, and first thing he taught me is to cold stretch and certainly NOT hot stretch, only use hot stretching for the edges of your panel
nevertheless it looks good, certainly considering the limited amount of time you guys spend on it
As a viewer, the car looks pretty good! I would have highly recommended doing a wet install instead of a dry one. It's way easier to get the fitment done, and easier on beginners.
I'm fairly sure that particular kind of material is only intended to be dry applied. I'm not familiar with any Hexis vinyl that is recommended to be installed in any other way; maybe, for windows and glass.
@@mjjjhaney1 Ah good point. Most vinyl that I have messed with can be wet when applied. The main thing is to use very little soap in your water. The more soap, the more risk you will deteriorate the adhesive. I havenât messed with Hexis either so it may have some special adhesive.
Definitely donât do it wet, thatâs the best way to get edges lifting.(signwriter for a decade.)
@@merkel2750 Agreed, from a 17 year vinyl vet.
Very few vinyls are wet applications. I've never seen a material for a car that is wet application either
I was thinking it would have been funny for the boys to have hired 2 professional auto wrappers to dress up like them and wrap the car. And to act like Scotty was the crazy one.
I bet the lads were wishing they'd done when they were well into the night with lots left to do. A great idea though.
Wow the change those wheels made with the wrap is amazing!
"The yellow Subarine" fits perfectly with the new look of the car
you fellas are the top gear of youtube, keep the content up!
Used to wrap for work, a flat wrap on my own would be about 3 days if cars cleaned properly. Two sides on a van with printed vynil i a days work. Heat guns take too long a blow torch is far quicker but requires attention to what your doing. Great effort surprisingly how time flys when wrapping. Love the colour ,hope you don't start seeing yellow though đđ
It looks AMAZING!! Good job guys!
I cannot believe how far this channel has come from when I subscribed đ€Ł

That's pretty good for a non-professional. Excellent work guys! đ
You guys need to participate in a budget race something like lemons. You buy a beaten up old car and do some mods and just go for it
lemons is american

this is my favorite series because this is my exact car. I get to have the enjoyment of seeing what mucking about would do to my car without any of the work or consequences.
This Hexis yellow is the exact colour and brand I'm using to wrap my car. Good to see it's relatively novice friendly.
Oracal are much better and cheaper too
Will you continue the series?
You should totally name the car the rumble bee Because the rumble of the boxer engine and the yellow of the bee also paint the rims black make it happen
RUMBEL BEE!!! Letâs go
I'm most shocked that you managed to buy some Prime.
My local supermarket is always sold out of it and they tell stories of people running to it at 6am when they open.
Love the series! Hopefully you guys name it Bumbleprix like bumblebee and grand prix
Dang, Impreza estate looks great in yellow.

WE WANT A POWER EPISODE !
Reminds me of my first WRX 03 wagon in Sonic yellow. It grows on you.
This is like a combination of DONUT media and top gear, and I love it.
Name for the Subaru: Radioactive Yolk.
Their admiring of it around 11:50 made me think of the name "Sunshine Subie"
Really looks like the Spec C Type RA R đ€€ Yellow with white wheels is my dream color combo
Budget Beast (BB) could be a cool name
Subaru Videos are too rarely coming out
The AD is surprisingly good. I didn't skip it.
Mods y'all need to keep this car running:
OIL SEPARATOR - the PCV valve on this car is a major weakness and will give you engine-killing knock if you race it too hard. Drinks less oil & runs cooler with oil separator.
OIL PUMP - a bit more pressure than stock keeps the inner cylinders lubed in hard turns
SCCA guys figured this out the hard way, nerds that read NASIOC like me gotta pass it on!
Also I vote **Rumblebee** since y'all propbably won't get to swapping the exhaust manifold.
After many hours of road trips in my youth, definitely need to go Spotto
The color is fantastic! Good job guys đ
Why not just call it more fast? đ€
Lots come to my mind, Race Taxi- Add a roof scoop looking like a taxi sign. Cabaru, Cheese Fingers, Corn Racer, Lemons Prototype(might be already out there đ€). whoa lots popping into my mind just looking at the yellow wonder. Try yellow wonder too, if the ones earlier don't cut đđ
The Magic School Bus would be fun.
Great vid, Chaps!

Yellow Hawk.
Because it's Yellow and performes like the legendary RUF Yellow Bird. And it's a Hawk Eye Impreza.
Man, it looks like a serious build now with the rims and the wrap, not a fan of the big "more fast" logos on the doors, but it looks great
Call it the "Spoon Subaru" after the component brand, they used a similar colour for their cars. The other one i have is "Boxing Bee" because of the black stickers on the yellow background and assuming this thing has a boxer engine (not 100% sure)
The Angry Lemon đ
ps: it's coming along nicely! loving this series.
You should spray soapy water down first, get it set up and then start heating it.
This way you can move it, get the bubbles out and the heat gets rid of the soapy water and activates the glue
Quadlock is fire, had one in my car and was in a head on collision totaled the car and the phone stayed put
Suggestion if you have to do this again-rent a dry ice blaster to blow the paint off parts, remove the rust on the undercarriage, and more, without damaging the underlying structural metal. The tech was developed by the US Navy for stripping paint on ships without damaging the structural metal (unlike sand blasting). Works wonders and doesn't run the risk of these issues. Another would be going over it with an electric buffer & a thick slurry of baking soda+water.
Another thing would be using something like the Daimer Industries hot water pressure washer that is designed to super wash the vehicles. Steam cleaning, power washing, etc., can do wonders to prep the surfaces. Another would be additionally using a clay compound "eraser" to *_scrub/polish_* the crap off. Given what you were doing, I'd have stripped the plastic parts to enable proper adhering of the wrap & to save material. :3
It looks great!!
Good effort gents. Looking forward to seeing what comes next for âThe Flying Bananaâ!
Those are some of the coolest rims ive ever saw, and im usually not impressed by rims. Super cool
This is absolutely fantastic, not to brag but I think the name "Super Lemon" fits this car best. Cheers!
any idea on how much weight those wheels shave off per corner, if any? reducing unsprung rotating mass is more of a performance mod than people think!
Im not a wrapper and i didnt read anything about wraping, but for sure you should add much more water on elements when wrapping
I want to do my 2002 wagon. How much material did you guys order?
Seen a fair few Yellow subies here in Australia
The best part of this video is Callum getting pissed off about the fender and Will is just standing there cradling the fill cap he wrapped like it's his child
i didn't really know what to expect from this, but i was surprised by the outcome.
That yellow is great !
The yellow actually doesnât look to bad on those subies, Smeedia did a yellow taxi wrap on his blob eye you should check it out
I had a yellow Volvo 245 wagon when I was in high school. My friends called it the Yellow Submarine.
I reckon you guys gotta go with "The Subarghini" then a sub-header/tagline "The Imprezive Supercar"
Did Callum just say "I've never seen a Subaru in this colour" then proceeds to pull out the vinyl that's yellow?
Callum, yellow has been a colour for the Imprezza for quite a long time already with it being on the ST204 and the recently S207.
There's still a lot of room to improve with a cheap price, remove the front bumper bar support, engine plastics covers, A/C, sunroof delete, front splitter, and why don't you upgrade the tire size, what make you think it will beat a Lambo with a 215 size? My Nissan Micra has a 175 tires but its a lot lighter.
The Yellobaru looks great
Noticed you have an Astra in the shop, have you painted or wrapped that or done anything with it?
SYMS racing team used a yellow subaru wagon with white wheels on the 90s JTCC, it would be cool to use the number 66 as a tribute
Idk about the wrap but i personally would have sprayed on some soapy water, or regular water is fine too, so the wrap doesnt stick too much when you are needed to make some adjustments or so. I worked with wraps on few strange things for fun as experiment like cigarette lighters, note book covers, powerbanks, my own spectacles, some PC casing way before gaming PC was a thing, my desk, the back of my phone, my friend's phone too, license plates, etc. And yes i picked up this interest at the accessories shop where they did custom stuffs like sound system, LED strip lights, wrapping interior and exterior of the cars, sound proofing too. Dropped the hobby but i am still very likely to wrap some random stuffs again if i get my hands on those wraps. This wrapping shiet hobby is too addictive to people who are quite fidgety and proactive with their hands.
some wraps have to go on dry, others are meant to be placed on a wetted surface. definitely good to check the manufacturer's recommendations!
Call it Big Bertha, it fits just perfectly
that was satisfying :) gg guys
So, how many seconds did you add to the track time from going full Bananaru?
Looks awesome
To be honest it looks sick
What are those wheels called?? They look fantastic with the yellow. The same color theme that I have on my miata. White rpf1 with a yellow paint job
my buddy has a subaru baja with a color like this, a nice bright yellow
Baboom. That's what I used to call bananas when I was small lol. It's a name suggestion lol
Bumpers almost always need inlays (small pieces of vinyl laid into the panel in pieces)
I used cheap vinyl wrap from China I bought on aliexpress. My god it was hard to wrap with. The adhesive was white which made inlays a pain as they stood out loads. It started to peel on the edges. Took me ages to wrap my car. It also pulled the paint off my door handles. I wished i paid a bit extra and bought a good quality vinyl wrap. Would have made my job so much easier, faster and neater. Least now I've learnt to wrap with rubbish wrap I should be good with decent stuff. The colour was amazing though I'll give them that
next, widen the front tires and lower pressure slightly, and increase rear pressure to make the back end more slidy and the car more responsive, don't do anything to the rear tire width
great combo of wrap color and wheels!
here is a name for the car... Blumblebee + Subaru = BUMBLARU
I think a great name is Skippy! Don't know why but it sounds cool
