FESPA World Wrap Masters Wrap Training: Cold Pre-Stretch And Triangles
Vložit
- čas přidán 21. 03. 2016
- For more on the World Wrap Masters check out www.wrap-masters.com and www.fespa.com. What makes wrapping a car difficult? Bumpers, door handles and mirrors. The reason for this is the film tends to bunch up on the corners which can lead to overstretching, wrinkles and durability issues. In this noon demo at FESPA Digital 2016, Head Judge Ole Solskin Ravn and Judge Justin Pate of TheWrapInstitute team-up to show two ground breaking techniques: triangles and cold pre-stretch which neutralize the curves so the car essentially becomes flat. This results in dramatically faster installs with higher quality and long term durability.

I'm a plumber and will never end up wrapping a car in my life, yet I still sat through this video as if I was going to go wrap a car tomorrow. ugh.
William Dean always good to learn something. Who knows when this could be helpful to you outside of car wrapping.
William Dean Maybe when your business gets up there you can afford the warp your vehicle to promote you business. I print and wrap company fleets all the time. Not so much for one off jobs.
Same here.. Very interesting, and him being a good teacher helps.
Im also a plumber and drive an old buick thats lucky if it gets a car wash once a year. I watched the whole damn thing.
Guy knows his car wrapping.
tbh, aside from me being a plumber myself as well, i feel like i can wrap a car now myself. Not like i will ever do but i am confident i could do a passable job.
Imagine how good he is at putting screen protectors on his phone
@@RealKevGotEm I've seen people wrapping their phones haha
now thats where the real money is xD
Or D-Brand skins

My family owns a graphic design and sign company and we occasionally wrap cars for market promos. The fingering issue was something I never could resolve until now. This guy really is the true master in his craft.
Where does he talk about the fingering issue?

I started wrapping cars around 2005 - and back then EVERYONE would hold their techniques, material, costs and such close to their chests (not sharing and keeping as much as they could a secret) - nice to see how the industry has evolved into sharing how it's done.
This dude totally changed my ceram wrap game. My bowls won't know what hit them.
Cereal "bowls"?
Saran wrap? lol
Lmao
@GnarDope__ Radington i know what your saying, last week I''ve bought 3 rotten blue apples for the price of 5 pink tomatoes, great deal!

Right, my sheets were never wrinkled. Would i not figure out how to glass this vinyl? I know it's not easy, but I would glass the fkn hood.
I watched this video on May 23rd 2023 and by the end of the day I already opened up my own wrapping company.
I love when people are teaching something and it actually does what they are talking about
He’s great
What i just learned: "Triangles, Wrinkles" and "Mkay"
I hope you appreciate that.
hahahahaha
Man, that triangle method is the bomb!! I've always have been using the polygon method!!
i didn't noticed it untill i read your coment ... mkay? ¬¬
Pull god damit, you forgot pull.

Alright?
Create glass!
Don't have wrinkles, wrinkles are bad mmkay.
Trust me I sat through this whole video as if I am ever going to wrap a car...it wouldn't happen but this guy's teaching skills is off the top...it draws you in...👌
Wow, I have no plans to wrap anything but you obviously have logged a lot of time perfecting your process. It seems as natural to you as breathing is for us mere mortals. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I actually did the first wrap on my own car (clear bra) and it came out nicely. The techniques used here work. After seeing this video, it reaffirms my thoughts that the process can be simple and I even came up with much of the same technique on my own just through common sense!
I have two wrapped cars and two wrapped boats and I know all of us non-wrappers watching this are thinking ‘I could totally do that’. It’s what I think every time I see this stuff done. However the extent of the catastrophe that would ensue as soon as any of us took the backing paper off and attempted even his first move laying out the wrap on the hood is not to be underestimated. Mad skills. Total respect. Mmmkay..
This shit look fairly difficult to me
This looks pretty easy to me! No different than trying to make saran wrap have no wrinkles when you go to wrap a container without a lid. Some of us have a natural talent for it while others just don't! Some people play the piano so effortlessly while others it's something they could never do no matter how much training they receive.
With the advent of Plasti-Dip, wrapping is completely pointless. I'm not even sure why anyone would even bother doing this when spraying on Plasti-Dip is a thousand times easier with comparable results.
@@SergeantExtremeBecause plasti dip looks like sh** and lasts Not even a year

Im a seasoned mounting and laminating tech (10+ years) and you my friend have humbled me!!
Very interesting. I use some of the same methods when installing headliners or seat upholstery in classic vehicles. Often they need some relief cuts, pulling in certain directions based on wrinkles etc. Great video!
Dude, I just clicked on this video to see what car wrapping was all about. I had NO IDEA I would learn some of the most amazing techniques known to man! And the way you guys share information with each other as though you're ALL on the same team, is just phenomenal! It's like you WANT your own competition to know your "secrets", because in the end, it's about becoming better wrappers and promoting the industry! Brilliant strategy! I'll be back for more!

Its really simple umkay
That was brilliant! I wrapped my car a few years back... Took my five days and I had to do the bonnet and front bumper twice.
Very similar concept to working with tint films with the four quadrant...of course, vinyl seems much easier to handle as you can pull & stretch! Thank you for this!
I was just wondering why I haven’t seen anyone wrapping this way because it made so much sense to me, but since I’m just on my second learning day I thought well maybe they know better cause they doing it… I’m so glad to had found twi … future looks promising. Thank you
This is very helpful I am a perfectionist and have wrapped the interior pieces of my Evo and have had issues that will help get around some of the problems I have ran into with over streatching and basically getting ahead of my self . I believe I am ready to start wrapping my car with triangle meathod . Inspiration for sure thank you stay stress free it's crucial
he's doing this at the wrap masters for a reason, I found it very interesting, he obviously knows his stuff. there are so many techniques for wrapping and you can never stop learning, wrapping is an art and if your not passionate about it, it will swallow you up.
Joshua Ciardelli or cheap bastards such as myself haha
17:55 He's basically explaining the Elastic Deformation of the material. He did a great job of showing and explaining how materials work. Plastic Deformation is the point when the material can not go back to its original form in which he explained was 10%.
Respect. Have tried different techniques on different little jobs on my truck and not one has came out exactly smooth and perfect

Greetings from a Dutch guy.
Wow, that memory part at the door window :)
I just started looking into wrapping a car and how it works yours was the first video I watched then I looked at a few other peoples videos a 1/4 of the way through watching someone wrap a gtr bumper it drove me crazy watching how much they pulled it up to replace it with yet more wrinkles and using the heat gun constantly all I could think about was the triangle method and 45* angle I'm glad I seen yours first I definitely would have been turned off wrapping otherwise thank you thank you thank you
Priceless information. Great techniques
Hes definitely the beat wrap artist ive seen yet now I see why he travels alot
this man is one of the best wrappers in the game eminem got nothing on him :)

great video. any time you get to see a master of any craft at work there is something to be learned. glad i watched it
He makes it look easy
He found a way to do the work more efficiently w/o cutting corners and maintaining quality, he cut the resources in half and can do it in 1/3 of the time. He explains a lot of details, I think it would be helpful to have a video showing the old way and comparing with the new way to really show the wins. But it's really interesting what he's done . I've never wrapped a car but he makes it look very easy.
I wrapped the hood of my 2002 Black F-150 about a year before I sold it. The paint on the good was not looking so good due to the clear coat milking up for some reason. I wrapped the hood with gloss black vinyl one afternoon. I told a few people but not many knew it was wrapped. This was my first wrap and I did a pretty good job of it. When I went to sell the truck I told the new owner about the wrap before he bought the truck. He liked it and bought the truck. 3 years later it still looks good from what the new owner says. The wrap cost me about 45 bucks and about 2 hours of time. If that hood wasnt wrapped I know the new owner would of tried to talk me down much more than he tried.
What brand did you use? Of wrap
Yeah, I also want to know. 45 bucks is a bargain
Let's drink every time he says "OK" ...Drunk in the first 3 minutes! Mad Skills Bro!
