Yamaha Blaster TORS System Removal - How To

  • Here's how to remove the troublesome TORS (Throttle-Override) system on 1988-2002 model year Yamaha Blaster ATV's. This set of electrical interlocks usually gives riders nothing but trouble, and the whole thing can be taken out once and for all with just a screwdriver and a pair of wire cutters.
Follow these simple steps, and get back to riding! The procedure outlined in this video is almost identical for getting rid of the TORS on a Banshee, except that you have to deal with two carburetor caps and a couple more wires on a 'Shee. No big deal. Anybody with some mechanical knowledge should have no trouble with it, and can apply what I describe here to a Banshee.

So I had the boggling down issue when I throttle my 2002 blaster. Followed the video step by step, my connectors and plugs were different however the cables were the same. After 10 minutes of cranking my blaster it turned on and had no issues. Great video and thanx.

hey man i have a 2005 blaster, the wire that comes off the microswitch goes to a boot plug which goes to the "brick", if i unplug it will it be uninstalled? I think my tors is messed up, blaster turns on but when i give it gas it just sorta sounds like a traction control sound on a car, good vid but idk if mine is different.

So is this system just for cutting out spark? Because I have spark on my but still don't fire. It might be a carb issue but just curious if this could be my problem.

hello everyone im here because im trying (and going to succeed by the way (:) to get a better spark out of A customers blaster, the set up on this lil blaster is very similar to my mx175f yamaha and i know my bike inside and out as well as many other older yamahas because i love to ride them so i have to know how to make them run. any way heres a few little tips that may help someone out- 1st of all when you have no/weak spark clean every plug in and ground on the bike, it does wonders. next remove the cap at the end of your coil wire so you just have the bare wire at the end where the plug goes and put that up the motor and check your spark then, this eliminates the plug and plug cap from the mess of what could be wrong. Also yamaha cdi ignition boxes are notorious for running fine when cold then as they warm up they fail and backfire and just crap out. i have bought a bike or two before warming it up fully to test it and believe me when i say i learned this the hard way. And last open the cover on the left side of your engine and check your stator and flywheel for rust/dust or moisture, and be sure to seal that puppy up when you put it back together especially if your a fellow mudder, it will save you tons of problems later. oh and please please check all grounds and make sure they are metal on clean metal like a spot of unpainted frame, i added 3 to my mx and i can now hear my bike spark.

Try not to leave wires dangling thatre taking power / being powered safer to tape up isolate zip tie hide etc and dangle but anything better than just dangling helpful vid sorry for nit picking ✌️💪

I just simply unplugged my tors due to a spark issue, removed the switch and still had no spark. Replaced cdi box and it fired right up. Tors obviously wasn't the problem and now it's gone I will never have that problem of it failing

irate74 tor system is short for throttle overide system it causes your bike/quad to bog and not accelerate. This is the best video I’ve seen just take your time and watch the video step by step you may have to rewind a couple of time a to keep up but it helps

ive been all thru my blaster the last 2 days trying to figure out why i have no spark and tried this mod with no luck.
You say will not run but your not saying why. Does it have spark? If yes , is it getting fuel? if yes have you checked the compression? The possibilities for the reason it wont run are endless. If you check the basics 1. Spark, 2Fuel, 3Compression it will give anybody with advice a place to start.
