- Ondrej Palat scored the eventual game-winner in the first period and the Tampa Bay Lightning held off the Florida Panthers with a 3-1 win to go up 2-0 in their playoff series.

Being a referee in the playoffs must be amazing. You have the best view on the game and all you have to do is give out penalties for puck over the glass. And the best part is: You even get paid for it.

Im pretty sure they wanted to keep him. Bad contracts to Tyler Johnson and Alex Kilorn with NTC’s. The Lightning actually waived Tyler Johnson Twice this year and no one wanted him because his contract is ridiculous for his lousy play!

They didn't give him a qualifying offer because if he went to arbitration he might have gotten more than they could have afforded to pay him.

The panther at the bottom at 8:00 needs to go back to middle school if he's even considering doing stuff like that.
Not a panthers fan but the stick was too low for that to have been intended as malicious, if you are swinging at someone its not a love tap on the shinpad its waist or higher where they will feel it. If you watch the panther players feet it looks more like an energy transfer from changing directions. The body swings either right as or right after the feet change direction, if he isnt tense and his arms are relaxed naturally his body will swing like that.
@Garrett i take it you have never played competitive sports. When i played as a kid into my early 20's if i wasnt putting full effort in from puck drop to the final horn no matter how long is left if we were winning or getting blown out i was going to be skating all practice or just cut from the team. I have friends playing pro in Europe and 1 in the echl who say its no different.

Well in 1996 we made it to the finals... and now that we have Queeneville, perhaps while it might not look in our favor, I see this being a start going forward to finally getting a bit more competitive for us than it's been in the past!

How could you say they didn't play well? This is one of the best performances in regards to efficiency for a team to pull. Almost no breakaways compared to game 1, a solid lead throughout the game, and great defensive play all around complimented by 2 way forwards.
The panthers don't play this style of hockey so they're gonna have a hard time countering it. They rely on getting behind the Defense for fast breakaways, it doesn't work when you can't get past them for clean zone entry.
@@tblightning7420 they played exactly how they needed to. They played conservative and clean. Had the lead all game, and won. May not have been the prettiest game, but they did play well. Can they play better?..of course. Game 1 was excitement, game 2 was experience.

You either have the refs call everything, make sure penalties are even for both teams, or call nothing and people will complain. If they call everything people will just say "well you need to let them play", if they try to make the calls even for both teams there will be soft calls made to keep them even which makes calls inconsistent, and if they call nothing then people will say "well this, that, and these were penalties". There is no winning.

Cheat, no cheat, the way this Panthers fan saw it - our guys not being able to find a way to score right somewhat negates the argument of the refs cheating... but I will say some of the decision-making from the officials was downright bullshit!
