I have done lots of weight training and weight bearing activity so in my 60s I am still very strong. This strength has helped me through cancer, chemo and 6 surgeries and rehab in the last 3 years. This is an important topic and you have a great manner and way of teaching. đđ»
I really love listening to the knowledge you have on how to workout for Seniors ... You do a great job on explaining why and how and the reasons for each exercise.
Hi Eric. I've been watching you for awhile. I've experienced some sarcopenia in the last couple years after a couple strokes. On January 8 I turned 75. I don't feel like I'm 75. I think I'm more like 45 inside. This year I'm going to be regular about the advice you give, and regain strength. You give hope to just start to people who can't do the beginning videos of other programs. Thank you. I'll let you know how it goes.
First of all, THANK YOU sooo much Eric for your excellent videos!!! I'm 72 and want to increase not just maintain my strength as I have been losing ground.
Get serious about going to the gym. I am 71 and I go to the gym 4-5 days a week for 2 hours a day. After 6 years I can bench press 285 pounds and dead lift 320 pounds. I am still making gains and aiming for a 315 bench press and a 400 pound deadlift. You are never too old to get strong.
I'm over 70, not doing enough strength training, so getting weaker as I drive myself up an ever-steepening slope. So yes I'm very interested in Strength Training for Seniors.
Strength Training for Seniors, what a depressing phrase. I am 71 and train in a gym with people in their teens twenties, 30s and 40s. No one thinks of me as a "senior". Especially when I lift a lot more than them. My current PR on the bench is 295 and I am training to lift 315, three plates. My training principle is progressive overload, lift smart, eat smart and take rest days when necessary. I train to failure depending on a spotter for that last partial rep. I have no joint or tendon issues and have been lifting this way 4 to 5 days a week. I am not happy with Eric Daws lowered expectations
Good stuff Eric. Progressive overload, consistency, and compound exercises. The basic things for young and old but this is especially good for slowing sarcopenia. Almost 62 now, and still able to do more pull-ups and chin-ups than guys younger than me. Doesnât seem to be a thing at the gym. Keep the good videos coming.
I don't know what it is but you my friend inspire trust, as opposed to other ppl on YT. I saw one of your videos last night, subscribed and here I am. Thank you very much.
Yes. You are spot on. Its consistancy number 1. Then resistance excercises. Plus full body. Im 63 years old. I train 4 times a week. I never miss a session and train hard. My diet is ok. I know about protein and diet. I think too excercises need to be performed correctly. That means getting to full range of motion. Like your talks !
Hi Eric....you have hit the nail on the head, and I say that after only watching one of your videos. Too many trainers and videos focusing on "six pack" or "shredding" and so on aimed even at seniors (which I am now part of). I've lifted weights and worked out on and off my whole life but my focus now is to keep my strength and try to stay active. For me its been a part of my life but for lots of older adults, gyms and mainstream fitness methods may be alien to them and I've seen too many older adults give up because they were pushed too hard. I like your philosophy of "keeping it simple". My motto is that training should never make you sore. Training should be fun and gains very gradual especially for older adults that are new to fitness. Keep up the good work and take care.
Hi Eric, your videos are all great. This one was, too. Yes, I'd like to know more about resistance training. Need to start and, like you said, be consistent. I'll be 73 in May and want to become stronger. Would you ever post a full body resistance video with weights or stretch band. For some reason, I feel it's easy to trust what you suggest. I do many of the exercises you say are important. So grateful to have you in my life! đ
Iâm 73, lucky enough to be able to play tennis regularly, just lost 30lbs in weight and now need to reinvigorate what muscles I have left, so Iâm interested.
No, Iâm just aware that Iâm not drawn towards muscle-training exercises so Iâm much more likely to stick to a soft regime of 5 or 10 minutes a day than half an hour a day!

Thanks again Eric! Question: You talk about the importance of doing full body training. If you were limited to doing one exercise only, that would engage the most muscles, what exercise would you choose?
