Perfect just what we needed to learn! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Exactly what I needed. Built my first privacy fence and couldn’t figure out how to keep the double gate closed. I’ll post a video of my adventures too
I'm happy to have helped you out.
Great idea , I was wondering how I could secure my double gate, thanks for the video
Glad to help
Thanks for the video! I realized after getting a fence gate latch from lowes that it would never actually keep the double gate closed and came acros drop rod kits but they never tell you a good method for using it on dirt! It’s either some very expensive hired help method or down and dirty new concrete pouring. Glad I found your video I now have some copper pipe and a rod kit to use on my fixed up fence once I get it installed😅plan to use this super long drill bit the previous owners left in our garage to bore out a hole for the pipe and then pack down the dirt inside to help hold it more.
Oh ya. A long drill bit should do a good job.
Cool
thanks
Ya Idk think still want pour some concreate then drill it out for rod
That would work too. Just a little extra time and money to make it happen.
Doesn't the pipe fill up with dirt as it is being driven into the ground? What was the diameter of the pipe? Thanks for posting the video.
I hammered a piece of metal rod and wiggled it around to get the hole started therefore the pipe didn't just fill with dirt. I used 3/4 pipe. Here's an affiliate link to the pipe: amzn.to/3mueVBD
The link doesn’t work
Have you had any issues with water collection?
No standing water issues in or around the pipe. I did notice the other day that the pipe appears to have raised slightly, from frost heaving.
One tap is probably all it will need to set it back down so I don't trip on it when the second gate is open.
What kind of pipe is that?
3/4 inch copper pipe.
How do you remove the pipe if it’s not needed anymore?
I don't plan to remove mine. Could you just hammer it deeper into the ground?
@@Woodified yeah that’s also an option.
How long is that pipe? 2'?
yes, two feet
@@Woodified I installed this today. It was rough getting that pipe down 2 feet. I don't think it will come up.
Need something stronger incase of strong winds
Before storms with high winds I go out and slide the bolt forward which secures the latch from lifting up. That way the gate can't blow open.
LOL, that baby cane bolt wouldn't last a week with the winds I have lol.
wow sounds windy where you are.
