Appreciate you showing what didn't work (with the in-ground pipe) as well as what *did* work

1/2" drive socket to fit with an extension of the right length.

Spud crescent wrench will work wonders on those.

Look up o2 sensor socket... It a socket with a slot cut into it... Make one that fits over your threaded angle part of the hinge, and use an Impact to drive them in....

My adjustable wrench has a hole on the end that slips nicely over the hinge pin. I then turn the wrench and use it like a crank to tighten or loosen the hinge. It’s almost effortless and works like a charm!

I’ve always used a box end wrench. Good leverage too!👍🏼

Box end wrench works pretty good if you have the room to screw it all the way in. Put the box end on the hinge part and spin it home

I use box end wrenches as well, those seem to work the best. I normally just grab whatever is on the truck lol

your installing them lag bolt hings in the most hardest way, your going to bust your wrist up cut a peace of 3/8 round stock weld a 2 prong fork on one end, and a 5/8 nut on the other end and use electric impact gun to drive them in in a flash. i alway have my generator on my truck.. i dont use a cordless impact, that bent gate lay it on the ground as you did and put a 4x4 or 6x6 in tthe center and one person stand on one corner and you step down on the other corner were you see it is up, dont put a much bigger block the 2 inches higher then it needs to bend, little welders trick, them factory gate are cheap thin tubing, you have the right idea with the pipe in the ground, but i use a 1 inch pipe for a 1/2" rod that way any movement or ice dirt give you room to move with out fighting with it and i put a few inchs of cement around it flush

Put a hole in a block of wood to go over the metal you need to screw in. Turn the wood!

Use a box wrench, which goes over the bolt, gives enough mechanical advantage to screw it in and will swivel to avoid hitting the ground .... : )
