I did that first time around and it eventually filled with small gravel. This time I'm doing some form of removeable and cleanable block but this poor guy had quite a convoluted process :)
Super cool. Dunno about the whole block thing, (very artfully done) but for the re-assembly I think 2 component concrete epoxy, like sika would be stronger. they use that sh*t in climbing walls for anchors.
Look no disrespect intended but you made that 3 times longer of a job then needed , if you had thought it through with extra caution you’d come to a conclusion to not proceed the way you did, I do this type of work for living and it was painful to watch lol , yes in the end you made a quality setup for the cane drop rods but man it took a lot of extra work to get the same result I can get in 1/3 of the time and still a durable rock solid setup. There’s No better teacher then the school of hard knocks bud 😉
The first time you do anything is a learning experience. Professionals are good at what they do by learning from experience. Research and experience will shape one’s skill overtime. Whenever I do something new, I’ll do research ahead of time but I also understand things may not go as planned and it may provide a learning experience.
I just took a half inch pipe and drove it into the ground with a sledge hammer.. Took all but 5 minutes

Next time make your center blockout out of styrofoam
Next time: treat the wood with oil or grease for mold release and if you can, make it with a slight taper narrow end deep in wide end at the top.
