*sunroofs 👍
Thanks a lot for the shoutout guys! What a weekend it was! 235k spectators, amazing weather, and a win at the best track in the world 🏆! I’m still buzzing!
So good for everyone involved in the project. Frikadelli team, Klaus the owner, Ferrari and myself! 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
The man himself! Congratulations on a great drive!
Brilliant drive! I look forward to the N24hr every year and really enjoyed your win.
Topic idea: The car with the coolest view out of the side mirror!
I’ve been binge watching these all week. Even my wife asked if we could watch another one. Brilliant group of interesting car fanatics. Please keep them coming.
Klaus Abbelen, owner of the Frikadelli Team offered his workshop to a direct competitor who smashed their car in qualifying. The rebuild their car at his place. That's the Nürburgring and the people there.
Bravo CH for supporting the slower cars at N24! As an Aussie who was Nurburgring obsessed since seeing the TV doco "Mal's Big Green Hell" back in 2006 and finally making it to the race with some UK mates ten years later we had an amazing time and the local fans were by and large very welcoming (it may have helped that Germans and Aussies share a lover of beer and BBQ) My friends and I walked the majority of the circuit over 2 days, sixty thousand odd steps, an absolutely incredible experience. Go the Manta!
This has honestly become one of the highlights of my week, absolutely love all of you guys, you work so well with each other.
Amen
First time watching 24h Nurburgring. I loved it!
Favorite commentary moment was near the end when the commentator started choking up when talking about Sabine Schmitz. Talk about passion and emotion! That's what motorsport should be all about.
Yes that was a beautiful moment!
This silly lil podcast entered the game late but quickly has become one of my bloody favourites ! Well done chaps and thank youuuu
Tremendous job as always, gents. Thanks for taking the time to do these shows.
It says a lot about online content creation nowadays but it's just refreshing to listen to a group of mature, intelligent men talk calmly and insightfully about cars! Long may it continue.
Chris bullying Lovett every episode 😅
Best content on YT right now 👏 Guys please consider doing a podcast live tour in the future!... it'd be immense 🙏
Friday night in Australia, bliss!
Utterly enjoyable! I used to wait until the end of Friday to watch but I can't wait that long anymore and just watch whilst I pretend to do some work.
In the 70's/80's, we had many 'old families' with large country estates in East Anglia, who always had their solid silver mascots fitted to all of the family cars...from Rolls-Royce to Mini. It was a nightmare to deal with when they were traded back in for the next purchase.
One client even ordered red cars with blue interior on all his cars (ex Blues and Royals Guardsman), plus a Hippo on the bonnet - the whole family had Hippo's.
Honestly my favorite podcast! Thank you guys for continuing to make these.
Best way to watch N24 is go onboard with a driver, I spent
45 mins watching onboard with Kevin Estre at night
Great way to learn the circuit but also you get no commentary
Just engine joy ✌️
I was watching the N24 from about 12am to 3am. The commentator was doing it solo at that point and a magnificent job he did through the night.
My friend had a totally restored inside and out MGB GT with a sunroof. Driving along an owl flew in completely tore up the seats, he stopped, jumped out the car and the owl then started on the the rest of the inside. But he still likes sunroofs as do I.
Oh man 9 minutes late. I'm so happy this is on now.
Ferrari to keep for the rest of your days.....Dino 246 GT or GTS. I had both during the 70's, perfect car for the UK - fast enough, fantastic handling, arguably one of the prettiest cars ever. Small enough to exercise on UK country lanes, and doesn't upset the 'public'
330 GTC would be second choice.
Bless you Manish. I love the fact that you hadn't heard about Bicester Village. I live in the area, been once, never again. It's full of 4x4's and we all know what they say about those...
You five have struck gold. 👏👏👏
Here we go for another one. Been waiting for this.
I’m currently working opposite singer’s unit listening to them starting some DLS in the sunshine watching this podcast perfect Friday 🌞❤️👍
Heaven fella.
1:43 Love how Chris qualified "adults as well" 🤣
When you're tall and driving in the city, a sunroof allows you to see the trafic light turn green without twisting your neck 😉
I love these podcasts, as a viewer I would love to see some 1 on 1 podcasts with Neil and Chris cooper as you did with mannish as I’d love to know more about them as for me the highlight of todays ep was mr cooper on caterham, love the pod
Can someone please tell Neil Clifford to start a CZcams channel with him cold starting his various cars. Please!
Chris Cooper really is the man. I think l have a man crush. He just makes so much sense with everything he says.
Thank you again. Would love to see content of all of you together at race meets/events in the future. No polished to stuff, just a group of mates enjoying each others company and beautiful cars.
Best car CZcams podcast ever!!
this years n24 was the best race iv seen, i didnt leave the live stream for the entire 24hours.
Keep up these podcasts. Highlight of my week. Like having a chuckle down the pub with your mates. Also on sunroofs. I've (for my sins) got a mk1 MG ZS EV with the full length panoramic roof. On a Sunday morning this time of year when nobody else is around and you just pootle to the village shop at 30mph to get the papers its great to have it open and listen to the birds with no (very little) other noise. Really nice.
19th episode of me getting lost listening to excellent nerds. Although, maybe my favorite part of the series is Harris stopping everything to check on Manish's dog!
I absolutely love the level of NERD this podcast/chat gets to. What other podcast talks about and go in-depth about how you can make a car have body language whilst racing? Brilliant stuff.
The weekend starts with the Friday commute now. Thoroughly enjoyable start to my day.
Brilliant as always! I think you gents need to do a road trip for this segment..something like a 5 part episode.
Love that this gets released on a Friday , save it for my drive home from work ,proper way to start the weekend
Neil Clifford is always the star of the show on these . A real wit .
I continue to wait for these every week. Wonderful.
Love it. Keep this going. Love the dynamic between you all.
My mini JCW sun-roof is unusable in the Sydney summer in order to avoid melanoma, but glorious in the winter sunshine 😀
My favourite CZcams show of the week currently. Keep making these gents.
The new best way to end the working week. Look forward to it every Friday. Love the banter and shit talking and the unashamed geeking out on the minutiae of car fandom from my demographic of middle aged men. All done with great knowledge and passion for cars in all their forms. Questionable music taste, but otherwise tip top. More please. Bravo!
Absolute gem of a show. Thank you.
The best and funniest one yet! Top work chaps 🙌🏽
19:51 "I was with McGuinness...not Paddy - the talented one" 🤣
I desperately want a Caterham but get so sad when reviewers always call them 20 grand because here in continental Europe, you cannot buy a new one for less than 50k.
Ludovico Einaudi's "Experience" is a great selection, Manish.
These just keep getting better and better
Such a excellent listen these ❤
Loved it as usual! Can you please share your thoughts on driving manors and what do you think is good or bad behaviors' on the on the road. Thanks!
As always a fabulous podcast. Thank you. I’m really keen to know about any recommendations for visiting the TT. It’s on my bucket list so any good tips Chris, others, on how best to do it ( eg. Place to stay, where to watch etc etc. ). Cheers
Another brilliant podcast. Look forward to these so much. Personally the sunroof argument is very car dependent. E46 M3 with a sunroof is a no go, yet for some reason a C63 AMG with a sunroof works. Two cars that in principle were built to do the same job, but seem to go about it differently. Maybe it’s because you live in the hope that you’ll one day fit a carbon fibre CSL roof to the E46 and having a sunroof makes it that much more difficult to do. 😂
19:22 All the talk about great racing circuits beforehand and that you gents are about cars (not bikes) notwithstanding, I promise you this: if you go to the IoM to watch bikes race, you will *never* forget the experience. Even Rossi said the TT was a bit much. Just go.
Fixed or opening front-half panoramic sunroof 👌
Thanks again guys for the best motoring podcast in the business well best podcast about life in general very relatable great topics banter craic fun happy days 😜👍
Edward was spot on this episode. 275 great, sunroof opinion, right and an 812 gts. Although 250swb>275.
These convos are so golden. Lets hear some racing driver stories getting technical. I always dream about what it wouldve been like yo be hanging around Fiorano during some of the golden years..F40, F50, F355 etc.
I love the fact there’s no mention of car vertical or similar sponsors on these! Nice change from the other channels I follow…
My dad used to fit sunroofs into brand new vw"s at the import center in Grimsby, early 80s to 99s 😂
There is a 2009 Ferrari 612 Auto for sale in New Zealand with 432kms from new Rosso Corsa with Cuoio interior for NZD $219,000!
Needless to say BIG fan, currently rewatching all the old ones :)
may i ask, the Porsche Neil is talking about, is it a 911R ?
Mr Harris missed an important point regarding re-inventing legends; when someone does manage to do it well, it’s a huge boon. See new Mini and Fiat 500 as perhaps the best examples. So, it’s tricky and difficult to execute, but the potential reward is significant. In other words, the risk may very well justify the rewards.
You sold me on the Manual 612 years ago when chatting with Max. I've still got it - no issues, runs fab. Anyone who comments but hasn't driven one, can't understand - its night and day different to an auto
Bloody epic yet again!
All of our cars, on this side of the pond, have sunroofs. So much so that a "slick top" is a rare and extra valuable thing in certain performance cars.
(EG Porsches, VWs, Nissan S(13/14) etc etc etc)
But ours are all mainly powered, glass with a separate part (of headliner) that can slide back and forth when closed.
I loved my 205gti with a sunroof, hard to imagine it without it. Had many perfect drives with that thing open.
You guys are awesome!
Love watching you 5, every Friday bringing laughs banter and petrolhead philosophy
Jean Shepherd? As in 'A Christmas Story' Jean Shepherd? Crazy.
Love the show Guys, as usual!! My 2 car garage 1) Rolls Royce Cullinan 2) McLaren 765LT
Always a great listen & watch, the best out there. If I had to pick a favourite it's hard, but if I had to as a question it would have to be Neil, say for a road trip, I don't care what in or where he just cracks me up more, in a nice way and his choices have always been close to mine.
Harris brought me here, but Cooper keeps me coming back.
Superb!
Strange regarding the Mercedes G-wagen. In Sweden and Germany, you order with or without tinted windows directly from the factory.
The Beano has arrived again. Best day of the week. Just like the next day of the rest of your life.
I thought it was just me.😂
I can’t believe for two week on the trot I’m raving about Neil Clifford, I think this is a start of a man crush😂 lightweight battery, painted key, and white dog eggs…legendary. Keep this up guys👍🏻
About the topic of big sunroofs and cabriolets and how the Great Britain percentage wise buys the most of them - I am amazed how no one acknowleges falling rocks on mountain roads and in general in countrys with more hills? A friend of mine was almost killed by a falling rock, and that was a rock hitting his drivers side b-pillar on a 4 door three series. If he would be in a cabriolet he would have died. That is the only reason, why I dont have a cabriolet. I still want to buy one, but it will be something with a hardtop. The sunroof is the middle way, it still gives some comfort of safety, but you can get sunburnt. Hooray.
thanks again gents!!
This is better than Top gear!!
612 Scaglietti would have been my choice too!
Please Please Please keep making these!! So Good. P.s. Did Chris Cooper Guff at 1:26:47? 🤣
I have a 458 - agree fabulous car - however phone & bluetooth work perfectly on mine. My 575 Manual would be my one Ferrari. Cheers and great broadcast!
The 928 sunroof being so small was why they did not use it for mangnum pin the Ferrari 308 was the second choice!
Girl beside you, stereo up loud, passing a spliff back and forth as you look up at the stars through the sunroof on a summer night. You're parked by the lake, small country town, all backroads, no worries
Happy Friday lads and lasses😊
Please keep on! These are too good! 612 scaglietti please
I really miss sunroofs.
I think it is a British thing.....quite often it is hot enough to need to tilt the roof open, but not hot enough to need A/C on. A common thread in the UK. You can smell the grass being mown, hear the birds sing, all without opening the window and disturbing your 'barnet'.
I agree they need maintenance, otherwise they can block the drain channels and flood the car. But definitely worth the effort.
I guess you have to have horribly slow, congested roads for that though. After growing up and beginning my driving path with sunroofs and then after that having owned multiple cabrios and roadsters, the convertibles are actually more comfortable as they work at all speeds and "do it properly".
I do love a sunroof for the moments when driving very slowly in traffic in some city center on a nice summer night, as you said: with the smells and that felling of the summer air. But IMO convertibles just do it better and sunroofs are so rarely useful or even usable.
Manish is 100% correct about sun roofs. And to make it worse I worked with someone who was in a crash on the M6 and her hand went through the sun roof as the car slid on it's roof! Hateful things
Brilliant choice, I have a 612 (non manual) and it’s very much overlooked. Stunning in the flesh, practical with 4 seats, solid mechanicals and plenty fast enough to lunge down any road with a grin on your face
There a 612 with 432kms on the clock for sale here in New Zealand Rosso Corsa with crema interior minty minty NZD $219,000!
I’m just booking tickets for goodwood revival, and I’m not sure which day to buy (I can’t get Saturday tickets) what would be the best day to book? could anyone help me.
Thanks
Blumin brilliant again
Now that was an entertaining 90 minutes. I am late for everything now but what the heck……
Id love a budget car themed episode - nothing before 1999
Great cast gentlemen, as usual. Your views on the New Aston Martin DB12.... Discuss
I still love a sunroof. I was excited to buy last year a car with an electric sunroof. Nothing better than opening the roof on a spring or autumn morning. Letting in the crisp air in the car, from above. Yes, in the UK we buy the most convertible car.
This podcast is the single best thing to happen to the online media world since the internet was invented. Also, I can't believe that Chris hasn't thrown any of LA Woman at the driving tunes playlist? I have always maintained that LA Woman is the single greatest driving track ever made.
Directly from Caterham: "We do not have plans to put EV Seven into production at this stage. EV Seven is a test-bed to see how well an EV powertrain works for our customers’ specific use cases"
