I would like to take a min to thank you guys for the all the hard work you have done and continue to do, I like so many simply love this podcast so please keep up the the great work.
It’s like sitting down with some of your best mates chatting
@@skygod1067 How very right you are.
Agreed
Agreed 👍
Yep. Maybe it's a damning indictment of how sad our lives are that this is such compelling viewing/listening. Blokes getting into the minutiae of steering wheels and sound system buttons whilst taking the Mickey out of each other!
Top nerdery and everyone brings something unique to the table.
Looking forward to the live show 😂
And a special mention for the chief of weirdos and optimists for putting himself out there and sharing his knowledge, wisdom, humility and humor. His piece on living life to the fullest in this episode was especially uplifting.
After years of following your IG, nice to see a face to the name. Too wise and inspirational to remain in the shadows.
I really have to say... Hats off to Neil-o. Truly appreciated your words about living life to the fullest, to maintaining joy and curiosity and letting the inner 12 year old live forever. Bravo.
As ever thank you. Neil Clifford and chris cooper took it to another level this week - pure genius.
Neil Clifford - your “Live like you’re 12 mantra” was absolutely brilliant - resonated massively, well done you 😊
Neil Clifford really got me this week 😪 I married my late wife in April 1999 she died just on the moment we went to Sept 11 in 2019
And his piece about just enjoying life really struck home!
I’m sorry for your loss. Please remember the good times.
Thank you Neil Clifford for deciding to do the podcast, you are my people🇦🇺👍🏼🇬🇧
Chris Cooper, wonderful lyrical two-car garage validation. And yes we do like the verbose narratives!
Absolutely loved that, "All that to say he would not be bashful" hahaha
Manish and Neil...if you're reading this, you're both absolute treasures. I could listen to you both talk cars, music and life forever in a day.
...also, that was the best "2 car garage" segment so far, loved Mr Goodwin's contextual explanation.
Also, got a suggestion to add to the music playlist, since the Queen of Rock n Roll passed away recently, i'd add Tina Turners version of "Steamy Windows"
As usual these podcasts are so good they are becoming boringly great! I just want to give Neil a big hug again! Post covid I gave up my well paid job to look after my mum full time. I had a sort of epiphany too, I wanted my mum to have the best care I could give her in the winter of her life & f** everything else that I thought was important in my life.
Couldn't agree more. Hope your mum is OK,I'm a carer for disabled people so see things others don't. Neil's words rang true to me as well. We have to become 12 again hahaha good luck with that but life is very short and we all should make the most of it. Saturday small road trip just 700ks but on deserted roads in northern NSW speeds excessive but just wonderful the old girl is 30 years old but still cuts the mustard. I'm 68. Thank you all your all of you an inspiration and joy to listen to.
@@graemewilson1400 Thanks Graeme, take care mate!
Love the podcast chaps keep it up and the car I had to give up was my Peugeot 309 gti I crashed it (only a low speeder) and had brought all the bits to rebuild it but at the time was a young dad and had to sell it before they shot up in value so got fuck all for it 😂 to help pay for nursery fees and was working for John Deere at the time not earning a fortune, but now back present day working back on cars for bmw with a ep3 civic type R and e91 320d touring loving life
@@ChrisFEJackson thanks Chris really hope your mum is OK. We all owe so much to them that it can never be counted...stay strong my friend.
Lol at Neil briefly killing Bernie haha
Great again guys, please keep them going!
Neil Clifford's words were great!!! ❤
Agreed. He’s an absolute gentleman and a gentle man.
Thanks once again for a brilliant hour spent in your company. Thanks Neil for sharing your emotions openly, we can all learn to just live happier. Chris Cooper pulled it out of the bag with his aims methods and working-out prior to his conclusion, brilliant!
The best podcast on the Internet by Miles. I know it takes a lot of preparation but it makes a lot of people laugh!
Bingo! Mr Edward Lovitt. I was travelling through Israel and found myself stuck in the middle of the Negev desert with no water and a hangover trying to hitch and eventually having walked about 15 miles thinking I’ve made a fatal error when an American GMC 70’s van stopped and picked me up and as I sat down relieved Robert Mills/ Children blared out the guys stereo. Life changing moments
If you do read this Mr Cooper may I salute your excellent synopsis of the situation in the UK in 1977 and its relationship to wider geopolitical concerns. That is the sort of brilliance that keeps me coming back.
Another epic here gents! Im a 37 year old bachelor in America and never miss a show. Also my two car garage at this moment is a 1996 Dodge Viper RT10, with VIN 00002 and a 1997 F355 Spider with a gated box and a full Tubi system. I spend every dime on these two marvelous machines and feel a real comraderary with you all. If thats not living like your 12 years old I dont know what is...thank you Neil! Please keep doing these they are spot on!
Hello fellow British expat 👋🏼.
Beer on me if you're ever in Florida. We can set up the North American chapter of Weirdos and Optimists!
Sounds like a plan! I make it down your way occasionally. A beer in definitely in order. The thing Chris and Co. must know is that the people who listen to these topics week after week have the same level of obsession that these 5 suffer from. We are all in the same boat I would love to get every person who has listened to all 20 weeks in a room. We could solve world hunger no doubt...or pitch in a buy a group Mclaren F1 lol
Neil’s George Best rant, so so true. It felt like life went on hold and it’s taken until now to actually become assertive and commit to plans and make proper adventures again. Felt like I wasn’t agreeing to drives out or missing fun opportunities by being non-committal. Weird how covid had that effect. Felt like it made me lazy. Sitting on the couch became acceptable. This year we’ve managed to get some trips in and it feels like things have started taking off again. Gotta get the AM to some decent roads again! Scotland or IoM or something.
I love Chris Harris and everything he does but since watching and listening to these I've done a little reading about Neil Clifford and what he's achieved in life and I have so much respect and admiration for him. He's worked hard and has been very successful, Neil your a diamond. Plus your taste in motors is spot on
Best podcast out there. What a great group of guys! fantastic once again. Thanks!
Properly had me howling at this episode! Brilliant! Have watched all 20 and this was a great double decade show! And first time I have absolutely, 100% wholeheartedly agreed with all five music choices! JMJ, Verve and U2 especially. Those are three fantastic tracks to drive to.
Keep up the good work guys. No need to apologise for “boring” us. Far from it!
I have always really warmed Neil Clifford since this podcast started, this episode made me love him. I'm 40 but have never grown up! I am a great believer that freedom is the greatest gift!
Possibly the best one yet chaps. Absolutely love listening to you all. Thank you.
This podcast has become a ray of sunshine in my week. I am like Neil ‘a lucky man’ so haven’t got too much to complain about. This podcast just makes me smile so thanks to all involved. 👏👏
Godammnit you old gits never cease to bring a smile to my face and a tear to my soul, such emphatic and earnest lampoonery I’ll take for another 200 episodes thank you very much.
Plain and simple: this podcast is the best thing on CZcams. Period. End of.
" Your family's been poor for 4000 years! You are not getting involved in any recessions" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love these podcasts. It's great to have 5 fella's from different backgrounds with different lifestyles and somehow that gives a brilliant variety in the chat. No other podcast makes me laugh as much as this as this one.
Best F1 quali lap for me was Lewis in Singapore, maybe 4 years ago?? It was one where just watching it made you hold your breathe as the car drifted towards the walls corner exit after corner exit.
Shortest car ownership was an 87' Sierra 2.0i S. Lost it on black ice at 60mph. Completely tore the front end of the car off. Engine and trans departed the vehicle. 19 years old, it lasted 9 days. Made up for it by replacing it with a Mk2 Escort Mexico.
2 car garage, i was born in '77 so no idea but i'd probably go a Rolls for London and a De Tomaso Pantera just because it's different.
Highly recommend the video of a couple that review RVs, they were invited by Castroneves to see his RV during the Indy 500 one time and watch the race from the pit crew POV.
He ends up winning the race is so amazing
This podcast is "Tremendios Fantas"
Might just be the most entertaining two-car garage segment to date.
Love your work, gents!
Neil C .....bang on the money. Proper heartfelt.
Has anyone suggested 'Jewelled' by Propaganda for the driving playlist. As a, mad about cars, child of the 80's, l got goosebumps when this theme tune played on weekend telly. It meant the RAC Rally was on the BBC. I can still picture the montage of Escorts/RS200, Manta's and Audi's hurtling around to this track. Sensory overload! My driving still picks up a little when it comes on the radio.
Fantastic episode! The more I hear you guys joking and taking the mick out of each other the more I absolutely love your podcast! Thank you 🤘😀
A great PC and funny as always. Love the Banter/Bollox that goes into these Wonderful to listen too and hear some of the old phrases. I'm in the same Generation as you guys, so it's a good laugh. Keep them coming please. The TT is awesome, make sure you've packed the Sun cream or a cap, coz it's a sun trap wherever you watch from. 👍👍
Robert Miles' "Children" also has an absolutely heartbreaking backstory.
"The creation of dream house was a response to social pressures in Italy during the early 1990s: the growth of rave culture among young adults, and the ensuing popularity of nightclub attendance, had created a weekly trend of deaths due to car accidents as clubbers drove across the country overnight, falling asleep at the wheel from strenuous dancing as well as alcohol and drug use. In mid-1996, deaths due to this phenomenon, called strage del sabato sera (Saturday night slaughter) in Italy, were being estimated at 2000 since the start of the decade. The move by DJs such as Miles to play slower, calming music to conclude a night's set, as a means to counteract the fast-paced, repetitive tracks that preceded, was met with approval by authorities and parents of car crash victims."
Well its Friday evening here in Australia and time to sit down for Episode 20 to enjoy the banter.
Gentlemen, not an episode goes by with me feeling like I have finally found my people. As much as I adore my friends non of them get the point that there are some things in life such as their opinion on mudflaps, cloth interiors or wiper motor actions (which I hope soon will be a topic of discussion) really are matters of great importance. Such and eclectic blend of attitudes, tastes and true car bore geekishness is a way fabulous to break up my journeys around the country. The 2 car garage causes my other half particular annoyance of an evening as I while away the hours with your imaginary scenarios and my own personal planning for circumstances never to arise. Alas I hope it continues for many more episodes and maybe one day with some time with listener interaction as the amount of times I have found myself shouting at the stereo regarding a car choice or reminiscing to Manish’s fabulous visions feels sad to share alone. Thank you for taking the time to produce an hour and bit of gassing about cars escapism
love neil's stories. glad you said yes to the podcast!
Keep this podcast running till I die
Chris Cooper is a legend.
One of the best yet. Brilliant philosophy from NC. One of my favourite hours of the week.
Absolutely brilliant every week; huge laughs, emotional, nerdy, keep it up. My wife already claims I am 12, so must be doing something right Neil😉
Excellent episode gents. Chris Harris out of the deepest respect to your mother I will adopt the statement “he/she is going well” from herein. : )
*Very enjoyable listen, thanks gents, and Neil C's nugget about post-cv world etc was bang on* 👍
Motivating words from Mr Clifford
I love how much research and time you guys put into these questions and stuff. It proper makes me laugh. Authentic, deep, hilarious, joyous, nerdy chat. Love it.
Came back here for the Neil monologue on mental health and staying curious.
The podcasts maybe over but at least I've got 60+ of them to enjoy. 😊
This weeks' 2 car garage was absolutely brilliant and each equally hilarious!!!! 😂
20 weeks in, wow that's gone quick. I use to be hooked on the "Whiskey Files" (ask 🐵) and now superseded by these great Podcasts. Keep them up
I look forward to this every week, please don’t stop making these podcasts, they’re brilliant. Only one request chaps, can we please have a two car garage that is not from the 70’s for next week 😂
Best two car garage ever. Honestly, just epic!
I fucking love these guys especially Neil
Thanks again guys, never had a brother, but feel privileged to feel part of this Band of Brothers. As two adult children, my spouse & I don't think we are too old to carry on having the kind of holidays we love, ie road trips around Europe, often remote parts of Greece, also been to Croatia & later this month Slovenia. Spouse is just over 70, I am just under. Our friends (and soon the insurance companies) think we are crazy, but we are fit, healthy & adventurous. Neil's words really resonated with us. Going to carry on seizing the day, though maybe not Harry Flatters any more! Joyous podcast.
Time listening to a bunch of similar minded (and aged) petrolheads is never time wasted. Overrun as much as you like - my time is yours.
20 hours well spent Guys!
Brilliant topics this week. Monkey knocked it out of the park with the Cheetah bed in the Daytona Comp. Sums up the 70's perfectly 😎
BTW, Chris C, I suggested Boys of Summer back in episode 5
I bought a 2002 LR Discovery ES TD5 in Green. Absolutely loved it, done loads of work on it got it running perfect. Then someone drove into the back of me at 50mph. The Disco survived with minimal damage but me person ended up with spinal nerve damage, lost my employment, ended up homeless and of course lost the Disco. Absolutely gutted. 9 years later though I have turned it around, now drive an Alpina, nerves are still Fubar but hey ho.
Neil’s quote and subsequent speech was incredible.
I also love how Manish’s Autocourse’s appear to end with the 1994 edition. Every year without Senna is not necessary. Brilliant☺️☺️
These really are great podcasts and have become a firm favourite. I really hope we have many more episodes to come. Great work all!
Neil beautiful speech on living life to the full, well done sir. Also Chris, you totally nailed the 2 car garage!
Again Neil, a man of my own heart with Verve shout! My bittersweet cover on YT is the only song that did any views! 🤣 Urban Hymns holds a big place in my heart. The album me and dad would put on on our drives to Wales or the Lakes or something in his 300zx TT or whatever car he had at the time 🤪 ah man and Chris Joshua Tree that was another one in the car trips. Just great driving albums the two of them. Massive memories with both.
Another repetitive comment…! This podcast is just brilliant, on so, so many levels.
Possibly the funniest, most insightful, thought provoking episode yet.
You clearly enjoy yourselves. You can’t possibly read all the comments, but I hope that the plethora of positive comments provides some indication of just how much we, as the audience, appreciate each episode.
Chris Cooper is right. It's why we love this stuff. The perfect start to the weekend again. Bravo!
Wonderful episode. Every week you guys give us a little bit more of yourselves on a personal level. Thank you!
Context is important. Bravo Chris Cooper 👏
Thank you. I've had a shit week and you have managed to make me laugh out loud many times throughout the podcast. The only problem I was in the gym at the time and received some very odd looks :)
frankly, it's why I love this stuff....
Well done chaps, keep em coming, looking forward to the next episode.
Just keeps getting better and better bravo 👏. Thanks to CC for his insightful and comprehensive history lesson. These could run for two hours and you’d still have a captive audience.
Massively enjoyed !!! Thanks guys !!
I'm loving this podcast - please keep up the good work!
My man crush is definitely Neil Clifford, great bloke!
You guys made my weekend after not ideal day at work. Thank you 💪🏻
Boys please keep this podcast going. For what it’s worth I’m based in South Africa and of similar age just a wee older than you boys. But I resonate with so much you chat about, sure they say you shouldn’t live in the past but sod that. Allow us to cherish some of our memories via what you chat about. I just love it 👏👏🙏
Can confirm the people always want and enjoy a socio-economic briefing from Chris Cooper. Kr.
I always leave this till I get back from work now .
Sitting out the back in the sun having a beer and listening to this , perfect Friday afternoon!🍺
I have a good Japanese friend who was world champion in RC cars, and in his decent but limited English he would refer to a good race or situation as Maximum Best! I have used this phrase throughout my adult life as I love it so much. 😂
Thanks as always guys, really hope this podcast never ends.
Take what you say about Indycars being ugly but that is in their speedway aero configuration, watch it this weekend and you’ll see they are back to their regular aero config which makes the cars much nicer to look at than current f1 cars.
It’s a great series which has far more actual racing than f1 these days. It’s no nonsense and is a bit of a hidden gem in this part of the world.
16:30 Have them go around the Portier roundabout before the tunnel.
Agree that the new camera angles were superb
As a Brit now living in the US (#AlfaBlingo) I just love and so much miss the unique style of Brit banter! Gotta say you guys really hit the mark with the George Best quote, “fuck-it” what more can I say 😊 keep it up boys!
Chris Cooper is funnier and funnier every episode. Chris Harris....car icon. Best to all 5 from Benasque, Spain!
👏👏👏 superb edition gents. Please keep this going. Brilliant.
Neil! You are a legend 🙏🏻👏👏👏
I love this podcast, hilarious fun. Keep it up 👍🏼
My favourite podcast by a country mile - THANK YOU!!
Keep up the good work boys, and please keep the content coming for many moons to come.
Great stories from great blokes.
Absolutely brilliant.
Neil Clifford is the unlikely star of this very engaging podcast.
Chris Cooper, absolutely worthwhile human. I don’t know why he hasn’t been in my life until this podcast!
Well done once again guys! Thanks for posting more pics the last few episodes. The show is perfect. Keep them coming!
I could watch these 5 fools for hours. The one chat I look forward to every week. Please dont ever stop boys.
I'm happy to hear you enjoy Indy racing. I'll be going to Road America in Wisconsin June 17th and 18th. It will be my first live experience.
Just the best podcast by a country mile.
Just love all the guys Especially Neil
And coincidentally Sept 11th is Richard Ashcroft’s Birthday
I hope with le man soon we can talk about how insanely cool it is when an lmp1 leaves the pits in electric mode and then fires up the internal combustion engine. Has to be the coolest thing to come from the hybrid/electric era.
Best one to date keep up the good work Neil point on living life and mental was cracking point too .
On you segment about regretting selling cars I have a sad story to contribute- A former girlfriend’s dad had a Ferrari 250 GTO in the 90s. (I was lucky enough to be passenger for a race in the car). He was a partner in a family business and one of the other partners embezzled money from the firm putting it in distress. The girlfriend’s father had to sell the GTO to bail out the company. I’ve got to assume that the GTO would be worth more now than the company.
Keep this up gents!! 🙌
Neil - you are so right with your song choice and the fact that you are still married and obviously still happy - “you are a lucky man” congratulations from a man on his 3rd marriage and at last very happy but a lot poorer!!
Edward Lovett in a four season hotel.
Such an entertaining, chuckleworthy and insightful podcast in support of being a tad more hedonistic. Bravo.
Love your stuff
Excellent episode as always- I've listened to them all and hope there are many more to come! Listening to Urban Hymns as I write this...
Re: cars you've had to let go unwillingly:
I had my dream 2 car garage that I could afford at the time or rather a car and bike: 2007 Impreza STI and a Honda SP2. Both fantastic in their own rights that I had to sell due to moving to the US. The only vehicles I sold for more than I paid for them after much abuse and which I still miss dearly some 8 years later. I bought a new Mustang GT upon arrival here but it never matched up to the Impreza and having a bike here is a death wish with the driving non ability of others here.
Keep up the fine work!
Well done guys, so so good it's interesting, and funny, even the good woman watches with me, your up there with Harry. 😀
