    Great video - please do more of these model comparisons; you have a unique opportunity with so many very cool cars at your disposal.
    I have a ‘90 964 C2 that we’ve modified with various characteristics from across the 964 & 993 model range. We did an RS manual steering rack, 993 turbo front brakes & master cylinder, rear seat delete and RS carpet & door cards. We redid the gear ratios, making 1st - 5th sequential (effectively shortening the gears). We replaced the C2 shifter with an RS shifter - they look the same, but the RS has a shorter throw. When I was a kid, whale tails were iconic Porsche - so we did an RS America tail.
    I understand that as an investment, a more original car is more valuable. That being said, a great modification for all 964s is to do aftermarket headers (B&B on mine) that unkink the exhaust path. That modification alone is worth 10 - 12HP. 964s aren’t destined to be short on power. My engine has no modifications other than top end rebuild, a hotter cam (993 Webcams) and a custom Steve Wong chip, and it makes 262HP at the wheels. The standard math converts that to 308HP at the crank. 964s are truly wonderful driver’s cars.

      Damn.. You do know a lot about cars. And for the record, your car sounds more fun than original. Dont care about the value if it cannot add value to your life.
      Good build man. Can you tell me which 964 is the best. Like which model. Cos there are different models ya kno..

    As an 993 RS owner I am glad you liked the 993. For me it is the sweet spot of great looks, great sound and great build quality, with enough horsepower to be interesting but not so much that one can't readily access and enjoy the car's capabilities on the road. I do though prefer the standard RS's 'melted cheese' small wing to the Clubsport big wing of your yellow car. Thanks for the video.

      I agree re the looks. The original small front and rear spoiler is so much more beautiful. Looks more integrated to the looks of the car.

    1:20 The 991 isn't the first usage of the term 'touring'. In fact, the 964 carrera RS was offered in a touring spec with more sound deadening, power windows, and a few other things. So that may actually be a 'touring' spec!

      @jasjinderdhesi3221 Před 2 lety +1

      The original '73 RS 2.7 had a touring pack. T (Touring) was also a trim on early 911's as well

    That wing was stock on the Clubsport variant, standard 993RS got a much smaller wing (similar in a way to the early 930 3.0s one)
    BTW, neither 964 nor 993 was perceived as underpowered in the 90s, not even standard, regular production ones. Not in Europe, at least.
    In my opinion, modern GT3s begin with... the first GT3 (996 mk1)
    Air-cooled RSs, from 2.7 to 993, are all focused on
    1) lightness (without caring about comfort)
    2) suspensions/brakes/aero.
    GT3 drops 1) to add 3) a totally different engine with far more power than stock (vs a slightly tuned stock one)

    These two models are not the ancestors of the 996 GT3 RS. The Clubsport is. These are the ancestors of the regular GT3 models.

    The front skirt of the yellow 993 looks like the one from the GT2; not like the RS.
    Are you sure it is the correct front skirt?

    • @mariusandersson1639
      @mariusandersson1639 Před 3 lety +3

      Its the correct one, the RS and GT2 had same front lip!

    • @Vic-E.
      @Vic-E. Před 2 lety

      @@mariusandersson1639 not exactly: it was optional (standard on the Clubsport model), while "standard" RS has different aero parts both front and rear vs GT2 / RS Clubsport.

    These cars are the fathers of the 996 GT3…. There was no RS until the 996.2 and that was far more hardcore.

    964 has the nicer front. 993 has waaaaaaaay nicer (fat) back. But trust me, the average guy on the street doesn't even see any difference. Both are the last two GENUINE 911's. The all others after that are just new cars that are called "911" for marketing reasons. Great cars though but these two are the last real things. Cheers.

    Dude! It ain't called a "nine sixty four"! Its a 964 RS full stop! Someone will need to remind why anyone would drive these cars in the US with the stupidity of the speed limit barrier where you will NEVER, EVER undertstand the car's true potential. Also, what't the bit describing the car's travel as "linear" or "playful"...YIKES!
