    YUM! I’m making this for sure! Heads up, when you harvest rhubarb, always pull up from the stem instead of cutting it off the plant. Cutting it encourages disease and pests. And only ever harvest 1/3 in a season to assure it will come back the following year! Love your videos and your journey into gardening.☺️

    • @deblosson9580
      @deblosson9580 Před 3 lety +3

      If you cut it with a knife you leave part of the stem behind. And it can cause crown rot which will kill off your plant, best to twist the stem till it breaks free.

    Great recipe :D May I suggest that when you harvest the rhubarb you twist it off from the base, cutting it off like that leaves the end piece to breakdown and can cause root rot which will destroy the crown and I know how devastating that can be.

I don't dislike it, but very much of it causes me....issues. 🙄 But along with something else is my preference... strawberry, peach, blueberry, etc. I will say that the rhubarb custard pie would still make me really happy!! I'd love a recipe for your upside down cake would be awesome... AND... a few years ago my daughter made what she called "BLUEBARB" jam. O. M. G!!
      It was ridiculously good! Sooo good in fact, if I was living alone at the time... all I would have needed was that jar of jam & a spoon!! Naughty, right? But sooo good! Have a blessed day.

    Watching a garden programme in England and rhubarb should be pulled not cut from the base. Will certainly try making your version with the custard it looked very good.

    I love Rhubarb . But you can't find it down here in the South like in Georgia Texas Tennessee anywhere in the South you can't find it and if you're lucky you might find it in a can but I live in Georgia now and you cannot find it here people don't even know what it is and it's so funny. But I am originally from Indiana

    I used to love rhubarb but can’t have it anymore (kidney stones and problems with my calcium levels). Enjoy a piece for me as well!

    Have you ever tried strawberry rhubarb pie? It's probably been 45 years since I had it, but it's the bomb. So good.

    When I was young we had rhubarb going everywhere. I would just pick a stalk wash it off and eat it like a carrots. It was good.

      everyone in my family is like that we all go and grab rhubarb from outside, peel it, and eat it with salt. Some people like it with sugar also i look forward to rhubarb season every year. We never make anything with eat because we would rather eat it raw.

    Becky, I used the recipe for the pie from your Scratch Pantry site yesterday. But the amounts in this recipe are different. Which would you recommend?

    i've never had rhubarb and i don't like most fruit pies because of texture - apple, cherry, peach, etc. but i do like custard pies like lemon, banana, etc. does this have chunks of mushy fruit in it? i think i would like to try it, but mushy fruit/food just gets me.
