    I love buying bulk food because it allows me to stay out of the grocery store as much as possible. Having stables on hand in my food storage making it so nice because I can make anything I want whenever I want. I hope you all consider buying in bulk if you have not already started it.

    Wow, in Portugal eggs are never refrigerated on the supermarkets… and often come with feathers or poop on them 😂 I though it was like this everywhere else!

      They actually last longer that way. It is how you are able to keep the eggs without refrigeration. In the US they are cleaned and it strips a protective layer that makes them go bad faster.

      @clairbearlatinahomesteader6303 Před 2 lety +1

      As a chicken lady that’s how I prefer my eggs! Even in the US 😂 but keeping my nests clean does cut down on the poops but they do lay way longer especially because they are so fresh

    • @tiff2106
      @tiff2106 Před 2 lety +4

      This is common in Europe as eggs are not washed here so the natural protection is not washed away and they don’t need refrigeration.

    Hi Becky. Your freeze dryer is apparently the best thing to use for your eggs. If you crack them in raw, freeze dry them, then reconstitute when needed, they are like a freshly cracked egg.A CZcams channel called Living Traditions Homestead have gone through this process recently. Kevin and Sarah have both gone through several ways of preserving eggs and found the Harvest Right is the best way. I love your content and your bright lovely personality.💖 You brighten my day when you upload a new video.🤩 You live the way I wish I have done when I was a bit younger. The good thing about doing water glassing of your eggs in smaller containers is that when you’re ready to use them, if they are in large containers, the oldest ones are on the bottom and it will take a long time to get to them. So there’s a chance that they would go bad. But in smaller containers, you can use the oldest container first and they will all age about the same. Good luck with everything! 💙💙💙

    We had an over abundance of eggs once and we were passing them out to friends. They had been in the fridge. One carton somehow got left out on one of our chest freezers. Time went by...we started smelling something. We thought it was just an empty carton sitting there, ha!!!! Oh, my goodness!!!!! We had to bury them DEEP in the compost pile!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad they had not exploded like I've heard they could...can you imagine?????? We've both been better stewards of which eggs are where now!!!!!!! Re Fire Cider which I've been making for quite a while, if you want a WONDERFUL taste as well as boosting immune potential of the cider, add a cup or more of dried elderberries. I also make an elderberry vinegar using them plus apple cider vinegar. Fire Cider made this way is incredibly delicious, whether diluted or not. You could add it to your sparkling water too....FCwith Elderberries makes wonderful vinaigrette and is good in marinades. Hope you try it. Don't think you'll regret.

    Love the look of all this preparedness! Enjoy the time away. When it comes to eggs, I have read that you can freeze them out of the shells - to avoid them being a bit gummy it's best to scramble them up raw and freeze them in muffin trays, one egg in each. Hope that helps somewhat?

      @@reannewu hope you like it! I use the quaker packet with raisins dates and walnuts. The tart juice keeps the oatmeal from being so sweet but it's such a good balance if sweet and tart and some crunch from the nuts. I also add chia seed once it's cooked to add nutrients and keep me full longer lol

      All you need to make yogurt is some bath towels to cover the container. I yeast my yogurt in my balcony. Heat it to a degree that does not burn your finger when you deep it in (of course after you boil it first to 100 calsius degrees then cool it some or reheat) , mix some sample yogurt (1 table spoon for 2 lt), then wrap it with a blanket or towel, let it stay at night. In the morning it is ready to go... Even if there is some water left take it to a cold place in summer refrigerator in winter balcony or garden or in front of an open window for one or two days. Then, it will settle. The tip is with yogurt you need to use wooden spoon metal is not good.

    Marinating pork chops and many other things in buttermilk and a little lemon juice makes the meat juicy and more flavorful. Buttermilk biscuits, breads, pancakes and many pastry items are delicious as well. You may wonder why you didn't try adding it to your recipes before.

    I recently watched a video on using plain yogurt tp make cream cheese with just the way you drain strain and store it. Can't be Greek yogurt. Mary's Nest is the channel. Haven't tried this yet. Just saw the video yesterday.... But thought I'd share the idea for the yogurt you don't like. Lone your videos. Thanks for the education!

    Hey Becky, excited to see your Azure Standard pickup....we are in Texas and order monthly from Azure.
    Please do a video making the trip to Azure. I know many of us on CZcams who are in co-ops would L♥️VE to see inside Azure❣ You are so blessed to be able to pick up in person.
    Thank you for sharing 🥰😘👐💃
    I bought the $60 Maple jug 2months ago. Lasting a good while. We Love it💙
    We also have firecider going now...recently made a video making it on our channel too. 😍
    Also, I buy gluten free flours 🍞 bulk and dry can them in Mason jars. Love dry canning cause it has a long shelf life 25-30yrs & you can open use what you need then reseal (same shelf life) I made a few vids teaching how. You could do this with ANY of your dry ingredients such as granola, buttermilk powder etc.
    The 🧀 cheese you could dip in cheese wax to store for longevity...I have a video doing this too and also using crayons/encaustic 🌹roses on each dipped cheese...yea, I'm a busy 🐝bee too. 😆😂👐💃😘
    Loving your channel ❤
