2011-2016 Ford F250 Super Duty Factory Remote Start Installation No Dealer Required

  • In this video I show you how you can add factory OEM Ford remote start to your 2011 - 2016 F250 or F350 Super Duty truck in 10 minutes without making a trip to the dealer. The best part is it will only cost you around $100.00. You will have to program your truck using a free application called Forscan to enable the remote start in the trucks body computer and instrument cluster. If this is too complicated than you can have your local Ford dealer do it for you, but don't pay for more than a 1/2 hr of labor. It really takes less than 10 minutes as you will see in this video.

    Excellent video! Well done!! One tip for those with a 2016 Super Duty, the TPMS module is in the headliner behind the overhead console, not behind the glove box. You'll need to remove the drivers side visor, overhead console and grab handle to pull the liner down enough to access it. The antenna then gets 2 side taped to the headliner. Everything else in the video worked the same and same parts. Thanks!

      @JUSTINROLLER Před 5 lety

      I don't have an overhead console.

    • @chipjumper
      @chipjumper Před 4 lety

      Those with the antenna mounted by the glove box can consider adding FL3Z-15K602-A which is merely just and extension cable to move the active antenna assembly to the headliner. The price just went up from $30 to $47 on TascaParts :(

    Just finished mine up today! You did a great job with this video, and took some fear out of the FORScan procedures. Only glitch I ran into was the 2016 putting the TPM module above the headliner instead of behind the glovebox. Appreciate you taking the time to put these videos together! Off to my next project...the cluster swap.

I have a 2015 F350 as my work truck and i live in ND, and morning were quite cold, So i got an after market kit to install on my truck and that did not work because I did not have a second key for the truck, So the key i had made for the truck had the remote start button on it, and after the aftermarket kit still did not work i found your video looking for a different kit, and it works like a charm! I am going to get the antenna kit and an actual Ford Factory key here soon! thank you so much for your video!

    dude, I just did this to my 2014 F250 and it worked perfectly. My buttons didn't work at first, but I did the 8 turning key procedure before doing the Forscan stuff.
    1.Close all doors, then open drivers door and press the Unlock button on driver’s door while it is open, insert key into ignition.
    2.Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 8 seconds, with the 8th time ending in RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode. (if the door locks do not cycle, then it was done incorrectly. You must start over by removing key and beginning from step 1)
    (Off is the position where you can remove your key, RUN is the position just shy of starting your car.)
    3.Within 10 seconds press any button on the first keyless remote to be programmed. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. If you only have one remote then skip to step 5.
    4.Within 10 seconds, press any button on the second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming. Repeat step 4. for all other remotes.
    5.Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
    and it worked perfectly. Thank you!

    Need help! I have a 2012 Ford F-250 6.7 Powerstroke XLT. My truck already has the antenna (behind glove box like yours), the hood sensor, and the remote start is turned on in ForScan. Instead of buying Ford keys i bought the amazon special keys that had the best reviews (many reviews say their remote start works). Using ForScan, I programmed the keys, and all the buttons work great, except for the remote start button. My truck already has aftermarket remote start, but in order for it to work I have to carry around an extra smaller fob (it has ford logo on it, seems like it could be dealer installed, it also has an antenna mounted at the top if the windshield near the headliner inside the truck). The fob is annoying to carry around, so I'm trying to slim up my keys by adding remote start this way. I can't get the button to work! Need any advice you can give

I've tried to turn the key to get it to recognize I've done both keys but no can do. Could you tell me how I can do that before it gets too cold for me to go outside and trying to start it because I'm in the midwest in Illinois and it will get freezing outside and I don't want to freeze trying to get outside to get to the vehicle to get it started to make sure it starts. The 2010 Expedition has no capability for a OEM remote start built in. You would have to have a traditional one added or if you want an OEM Ford remote start system you can get one but it still has to be installed the hard way, wire by wire.

    I got an antenna + 2 key kit off of Amazon similar to what you've got in the video. Got the keys cut at a locksmith for $5/key, and got them programmed via FORScan. I only had 1 working key from the dealership, so I programmed both new keys using FORScan. Both keys will now manually lock/unlock the driver's door and crank the engine BUT none of the 4 buttons on either key work (can't remotely lock/unlock doors, can't turn the alarm on/off, and can't remotely start the vehicle). I tried changing out the CR2032 batteries in them, but no luck getting any of the buttons to work after that either. They're working PHYSICAL backup keys...but I really got this kit to have the remote start feature. These were not Ford OEM keys. Does this seem like a problem with the electronics of the key, or did I do something wrong programming them??

    So I have a 2016 f250 and I found that my tpms module is not there but thanks to a previous poster I found it above the headliner on the driver side. But I don't have an entry in bodycm for 126-19-01. I was able to enable the menu and it shows the remote start enabled. Anyone seen this? Is it different for 2016? BTW, thanks Ford for moving that. :)

One issue I am having (not sure you can help), after I activate the remote start with FORscan, I cycle the key, step out as you do and test. If you have an aftermarket key (not oem Ford) you may have to program the keyfob part of it separately using conventional remote programming. Its usually something like this. You do not have to do this with an oem key. If you bought the key on ebay or amazon,.its probably not a ford key.
      How to Program a Ford Key Fob
      Enter your Ford vehicle and close the door.
      Slide the ignition key attached to the Ford key fob into the ignition.
      Turn the key on and off eight times (do not start the car), leaving the key in the "On" position after the eighth turn. ...
      Press one of the key fob buttons within 20 seconds to program the key fob.

Is there a way to enable the truck to accept the same remote start command from the key while the truck is running, then remove the key and leave the truck running without it shutting off until whichever user selected timed duration it is set at runs out?

    Is it normal after all this is done and the truck starts for nothing inside the truck to power up until you turn the key on? Reason I ask is I just did this to my 2012 F-350 XL and it doesn't power up anything inside, including the radio, instrument cluster, or HVAC controls. So I cannot set the heater on or the AC on in the summer to pre-heat or cool the vehicle. Kind of defeats the purpose of the remote start if you can't have the heater or AC working while in remote start mode. Just wondering if your truck does the same thing. Thanks for the video! Was very helpful for enabling the remote start.

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes it is normal but your AC and heater will work. Try setting the heater on and then remote start the truck. It automatically brings the temp up to 70 degrees I believe and then shuts off. Same in the summer. It should cool it down to 70 degrees if the AC is on. Thats how it works in my 2011 XL. All other accessories will be off.

    I run a mini max tuner plugged into the OBD port. Any chance the dealer will screw something up unplugging the tuner and reflashing the BCM? In theory it shouldn't effect the ECM at all, but I'm worried about some of these dealer techs

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  Před 5 lety

      Do you have an offroad setup? Like egr delete and offroad exhaust? Reason being they will try to automatically update the ecu when they plug in the IDS scantool. It usually prompts them to do it. This will destroy your custom tune and you wont be able to reflash it. I would either not let the Ford dealer do it or would return to a stock tune (not sure if truck will even run on stock tune) and then after they update re download your custom tune, if it even still works. Best bet is to find a small shop to do just what i said or tell your dealer not to touch the ecu programming at all and only update the bcm. Good luck with that though

    2015 explorer has the same TPMS module. It is located in the back of the center console. I used forscan to activate the remote start. All works but the range is not great. Do you think the same antenna can be used? That antenna wire in the kit seems too short to be able to drag it from the bottom of the console. That antenna part number BC3Z19G364A doesn’t mention explorer.

    • @JackofAllMasterofNone
      @JackofAllMasterofNone  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The explorer probably has a different antenna part number due to having a longer wire. I don't know that for a fact though. The reason you have poor range is because there is no antenna so you need to address that in some way. I'm sure the one for the f250 wood plug in and work but like you said the wire would probably not be long enough to go very high

      @@JackofAllMasterofNone thank you for the quick reply. I searched for the explorer antenna, couldn’t find anything except this part: JS7Z-15603-A. It is for 2020 and newer Explorer, so I have doubts whether the connector is the same. I decided first to try something else - ordered a cheap antenna suitable for frequency 315mHz. It comes with the RCA wire. I have a f2f coupler and another RCA cable that I cut off and attached the square antenna connector for TPMS module. If it doesn’t help, I will buy the mentioned part. It is $30 or so. I will report back.

    • @andreik1775
      @andreik1775 Před 8 měsíci

      The generic antenna with RCA did not seem to increase the range as much as I hoped. I ended up obtaining an OEM DA8Z-15603-A off a 2011 Edge. The part fits these Fords:
      Ford Edge 2011-2015
      Ford F-150 2011-2014
      Ford Flex 2013-2017
      Ford Super Duty 2011-2016
      Interestingly, Explorer is not listed. Anyhow, I used it on mine.
      I had to extend the wire, removed antenna from the plastic box, wrapped it in soft foam, and tucked it in the headliner. The remote start range seems to improve. But, maybe it’s just wishful thinking. Anyhow, done with that.
