Don’t buy it at GameStop at all. Buy the game from the most fanciest video game store that you can find.
I like the new Yoshi voice. Also, the attacks are mapped to ZR because R on a Switch controller is a shoulder button, not a trigger like the GameCube.
Plus the Switch’s L/R buttons are thin and kinda hard to access anyway. At least with the joycons.

For those that think the jungle gameplay in the remake looks "empty" need to remember two things about this game.
One, theyre different parts of the jungle. The backgrounds change based on where you are on the screen.
Two, the backgrounds collapse mid-fight. Since the gameplay is showing only yoshi attacking, its not unreasonable to assume mario has already had his turn and used his hammer which can trigger portions of the background to fall even as early as the first turn. As someone who has quake hammer as their favourite badge, my stage frequently looked barren lol.

Unless of course there's a Spike Shield for partner's badge. That would be a blessing.
That would be amazing. Maybe that’s why they didn’t show it. They want to tease us.
Wouldn’t that be almost useless as Yoshi and Goombella are the only partners that jump on enemies for their attack? You’d almost always be better off just having Quick Change equipped and switching to someone who won’t take damage.
Spike shield protects Mario from all spikes including front facing ones on enemies like bristles. So spike shield P would also probably let Vivian and Ms. Mowz target more enemies. It would also be beneficial to Flurry because she can also be hurt by spikes during body slam.
@@haydenyoung5644i was just about to mention Flurrie and her body slam. Yh, Spike Sheild P would definitely be beneficial for her.
It wouldn't really be that useful though, especially if it costs as much BP as regular Spike Shield and even less so if you get it later than regular Spike Shield. I'm really hoping for All or Nothing P, now that would be a good badge, especially since it was going to be in the original but got scrapped.
Can’t wait to play this game from my childhood era.
I hope there's a Spike Shield P badge. Yoshi ground pounding on the putrid piranha implies it.

@@gltchyyboy7787I mean, it is very different from 64. I know a lot of people who say it’s better, but I personally think it does some things better and some things worst. Just don’t go in this game expecting an absolute masterpiece like I did. It is an amazing game, but it’s not a once in a lifetime experience. Hope you have a great day.
This footage is awesome, except for one thing: who on earth is using Ground Pound on a Putrid Piranha? Two words: spike hazard!

I hope that you get to choose the color of the yoshi instead of it depending on the certain time of hatching. Like say after the egg joins you, you get asked about your favorite color or something

Hate to be a downer but it's important to remember that it's still just a remake, you can't really say that until we get a new game like the first two.

This is Super Awesome! Can't to relive my Childhood with this game on the Nintendo Switch System next month in May!
While not a huge deal, I wonder why they changed the design on that roof. Having the missing tiles in a line, as if other people have jumped over there and knocked them off, was a good indicator that you could go up there. I mean, its still fairly obvious you can go there, but it was nice environmental detail while also being good level design
Also the Keelhaul Key battle stage is almost completely different. Instead of having a mess of vines and mossy branches stretching everywhere across the screen, it has a clear background with the foreground only having some tropical flora on the left side and short grass spread across the stage

Maybe I like to see a music park like some fun mini games and surprises.
And rides, and that’s my top three things I want like to see.

That's pretty easy to get, I've only gotten a different color once out of all of my playthroughs, you'll most likely get green.

Black Yoshi was my first ever, I (correctly) thought he was so cool.
I cant wait to play this for the first time! I olayed Paper Mario 64 recently and it was great! (Not aure how I missed these games growing up)
They should add purple, yellow, and light blue colors for Yoshi kid then all 10 modern yoshis would have a Yoshi kid representing them and it would be a easy way to add a small thing in the remake that the originals don’t have

Pretty sure gulp only does 4 damage to both enemies normally, so they may have buffed it, unless the Yoshi in the clip has extra power or there's some sort of new weakness to gulp

Of course. Green is default, so they focused on it. The egg is still multi-colored, so the Yoshis are too.
Well, his colour you got was all based on his incubation time anyway, so it's not random which you get.
They completely nailed the pop-up book style, I hope they keep on this trend as it really fits PM.
I hope that one clip is a hint at a partner spike badge or at least the spike badge we get works on partners also

The last time I was this excited to play a switch game was tears of the kingdom.
Ive played this game 10 times since it came out and 5 of those 100%. I still cant wait to play this.
I wonder if the color of the Yoshi will change using the same mechanic used in the GC version. I remember having to wait for 20 minutes or so during the Adonis Twins fight in one playthrough because I wanted a Black Yoshi.
They should give use a way to reselect our yoshi color and name. Maybe repurpose the juice bar for it?

@@ianswift3521 except the remake for RPG was made (with some exceptions) to run at 60FPS natively. TTYD remake is, for some unknown God forsaken reason, made to run at 30FPS natively. I just truly do not understand why Nintendo decided to go that route.

You forgot to talk about the fact that, as in the OG, half of the stage in the fight has fallen over the Piranha Plants. Wish they could've shown it in the footage.

I might be seeing things, but it looked like the charge-up for the ground pound was filling much faster than the original.
It might just be a different tapping speed by the person playing?
I imagine it'll be easier in the long run purely because the switch shoulder buttons are much easier to tap than the GameCubes analogue triggers. Not to mention quieter
I hoping my ZR button won't get destroyed for recklessly tapping. The button was worn down a bit.

Is it just me or is the mashing move way easier/faster to pull off and you don't need to mash it as much, or was that just the footage?
It's naturally going to be easier. Mashing ZR on the switch is generally easier to do than mashing R on a GameCube controller due to the analogue triggers.

I'm glad they changed Yoshi's SFX, the original gets annoying to hear when you use him to travel faster.

I hope they let you customize the yoshi when it hatches, instead of it being completely random.
It's not random. It depends on how long he was an egg before you meet him.
I sure the mechanics of hatching Yoshi egg still the same like Gamecube was. You just need to determine how long the time you keep the Yoshi egg follwing you and when it reset back to initial time count

That's the one thing I'm not a huge fan of about this remake. I just wonder... will superguards be harder or easier? (In the OG game you have 3/60 frames to perform it but due to the frame rate being cut in half we'll either have 1/30 which would be harder, or 2/30 which would be easier.)

It’s in a short format for short videos, the actual game is in 16:9. The GameCube version was in a video format but actually in 4:3

IIRC, their color is different depending g on when you hatch the egg. Though, not sure if this is still the case in the remake.

I hope that jungle stage is incomplete, the right side being empty looks weird.
It's most likely that the stage has collapsed. When mario uses his hammer (or some other high impact ability like an earthquake or explosive) there's a chance portions of the background falls down.
Nintendo should have never changed the gameplay of paper Mario the thousand Year door!

I’m gonna buy this game physical because if I buy digitally, I’m always going to be worried that the game could be snatched from my account but then that begs the question, didn’t Nintendo say that all of your digital purchases would carry over to the next platform?? It is physical and they have not officially said anything about the next hardware. Including backwards compatibility.

@@dylanbanning Nintendo have only ever stopped access to one of their games digitally and that's Mario 35 but they made that detail clear when it released (and it was free). Other than that, They've never stopped access to your digital library. They're not Ubisoft.

Yeah there won’t be. That’s a shame, if Nintendo was smart they would have added in a playable Luigi side adventure based on what is told to us in the original about it when you see Luigi in Rogueport with those different partners.

Why is ZR on the left side of the bar instead of above or right? Players encountering this for the first time are going to press ZL before realizing it is ZR.
You forgot to bring up how the battle background at 0:15 has less detail on switch compared to the GameCube…. That slightly has me worried.
No, that's actually a gameplay mechanic. If you do certain attacks, you will knock off some of the background. Basically, the background gets worse the better you play.
1:03 kinda weird enemies to be gulped like that, just disappearing. A frame of two with the target slightly crumpled could be nice.
Not whining, the updates look amazing, just this stands out as a bit odd :P

@@RKMCHerethis is one of the only comments I've seen that remembers that the backdrops collapse mid battle. It's highly likely that trees and such have already fallen. In addition, they're also at different points of the jungle since the backgrounds change based on what screen you're on. (Putrid piranhas appear on the screen after the green fuzzies if memory serves)
