*Breaking News*
Embracer Group’s new division Coffee Stains & Friends is being further subdivided into “Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends” and “Garfield & Friends”
The two “and friends” company’s names are placeholders.
After all the evidence showing Meta(facebook) harvested massive amounts of data (and still does) and then lost it in a leak, why is anyone still giving Meta a chance?! I really dont get how people still buy their products.
Why people even use FakeBook
What leak?
I have had my data stolen over the last 20 years from my retirement fund, my insurance company, and multiple credit card companies getting hacked. It is unavoidable these days.
@@LogicalError007 The leak from 2021? 500+ million users Phone nums and multiple location details and birthdays (and more) were taken in a breach, this wasnt even the first time its happened but it even got the US congress involved. Buuuut they gave facebook a slap on the wrist and charged em essentially pennies (compared to what they make) for losing that vital information. Totally not abnormal behaviour on the govs part.
I haven't touched any of their products in years. Meta is a horrid company
Rather than an Auto Play Function, I’d much rather if some games, or maybe even just RPGs, had a ‘Speed Up’ Mode or the ability to Speed up the gameplay. The ‘High Speed Mode’ for example on the PS4 Ports of the older Final Fantasy games makes grinding much less annoying or tiring.
At that point, you might as well just use the auto play function, it accomplishes the same thing.
Or just don't play my game for me what kind of stupid crap is this
@@Lee-km7qq yes but the autoplay function time-gates things. it just makes room for "speed up this time gate for $$ like any mobile game."
Makes me appreciate games like Bravely Default, Persona, and Etrian Odyssey much more
@@SkitzSkitzVids Are you deliberately obtuse?

Spot on.
Honestly, this patent could lead to Ubisoft getting rid of their bs checklist formula for their open world games. No reason to develop them if an AI will just auto complete them.
I don't want Sony charging us for B-spec in future Gran Turismo games nor any other game.
Who looks at Zuckerberg and thinks “normal person”?

Without a doubt the worst part of FF10.
That Sony patent could be an accessibility option for disabled people. As long as you can manually enable/disable, I'm not against it
good point
Ya we used to have this stuff. They were called cheat codes. Pick what level you want to be in options and make one of your spells one shot bosses.
Its cheat codes.
@@DKamps But those were fine apparently, while Gamers lose their doodoo on any such options being in games.
@@DKamps yeah get someone whose disability means they struggle with motor skills to have to input a cheat code just so they can play a game
Honestly, Embracer just making 3 separate companies is one of their better moves, because they have sooooo many things, that it was obviously impossible to manage all of it under simply one company
Call it Eraser Group
Two sides to this AGC One it’s really pointless if you’re not playing the game… Two I am legally blind. I have some vision enough to play most games but sometimes really tiny little stupid things trip me up and it would be nice to hit a button to say just finish this little thing for me so I can play 98% of the game myself.
Devs could just put less grinding in games…
How could you have a Monster Hunter game without grinding? The entire series is built upon literal grindfest.🤡🤦♂️
@@cbgg1585 Balance. Not all grinding is bad or good.
Tell me you're lazy without telling me you're lazy.
@@cbgg1585 To me, the term 'grind' always refers to a section in a game that unnecessarily requires you to repeat an action without any gain of knowledge or skill. So a core mechanic of hunting monsters to harvest their resources, and some of those resources being rare, is not grinding, as every time you defeat a monster you get experience with attack placement, timing, and monster behavior. That experience gives you the skill you need to fight later monsters who build on the base moveset of the ones you've killed or captured. But MH does have grinding in the form of gathering a resource from a bush or mining location, where the computer rolls the dice on whether you get the resource you want. You gain no relevant skill or knowledge by performing that task.
@@NetBattler That's what you got out of that?
Sony Patents Journalist mode for games.
That’s exactly what I thought of
Or grow up mode for busy person and family person who has kid and many thing to do besides gaming.

Considering it's Sega/Atlus, I'll bet Metaphor ReFantazio will have $30+ worth of Day 1 DLC, plus an expansion pass.
Game looks great, but I hope people stop giving Sega a pass.
Frl and they keep getting more and more scummy
Unicorn Overlord has no such issues. And I hope it stays that way.
@@Mac_OmegalyI just wish I could get a copy.
People _have_ stopped giving Sega a pass way back in 1995. Then the Dreamcast failed (even though it was an excellent system). And lately they have been doing a lot better. I think they've earned another pass, lol. Especially since most other companies (especially Nintendo) get way more passes than Sega.
It already has persona skins in the collectors edition so I think it will have a minimum of $20 day 1 dlc for those skins alone. I hope atlus doesn't lock any quests behind dlc like they did for the og smt v.
You forgot the most important part of any AGC scheme. Money. That is the perfect evolution of time savers dlc. You could even charge hourly or daily for open world grinds.
Autoplay has existed before that patent was even filed. Good luck Sony.
Meta offering third party support is probably due to them getting a heads up about DOJ suing Apple for anti-competitive behaviors. These companies have reliable informants, so Meta probably got a heads up about it several months ago.
They have been saying from the beginning this is the path they wanted to go and have previously partnered with Lenovo and Huawei for different products (oculus go and rift 's').
Game developers have been banning bots for the past 30 years and now they're trying to bring them back as something to be sold. It's just the next evolution of selling cheats as dlc.
They would be disabled in online play.
This comment should really be higher
AI playing games for us would be so funny, reaching the place where not only workers but consumers are also replaced by it.
Now if only they could get money from the AI and have AI design the games, then it could be the next failure we all want.
Catherine Full Body already uses auto play in the puzzle sections. Not sure why Sony thinks they have the right to patent the idea.
B-spec mode wants to have a chat with Sony...

Ai auto-playing games seems like a really roundabout way of switching to easy mode. Why waste all that computing power on something that devs could solve by adding additional easy difficulties to game? And for players who just want to watch instead of playing, you can just watch a streamer do a playthrough.
Maybe for disabled people that need help during certain parts of a game.
Because everything has to be AI today, sadly.
This could have far more usefulness than just being an easy mode. I imagine someone like Kojima could put the tech to good use in a creative way.
So not buying Jedi survivor at launch I now get a less buggy game and can play it on Gamepass
Yeah I wonder why people aren’t buying games at launch as much anymore 😂
You should have just bought it instead of game passing it. Promotes bad business

@@The80Katwhat bad business?
@@The80Kat What bad business?
I pre-ordered it. Subscribing to play games is dumb.
Sony’s patent has already been done by MMO’s for a while now where your character can attack monsters based on your quest or the area
The playstation autoplay feature is really telling for the direction playstation wants to take:
It seems like the end goal is to do a ubisoft and make games artificially more grindy so that you either have to AFK farm. . . or pay microtransactions to get free resources and experience boosters to make things get done quicker. It's a bad sign.
The AI playing the game has to be the most absurd thing I have ever heard if the grind is so hard just to play through the game that you don't want to play it that's bad game design. Also let's be real this would be a microtransaction, don't want to grind? Give us $5 and we will grind you to X level.
They mentioned Microsoft because they are making an Xbox themed Quest 3.
Jedi Survivor is already playable for ea play users since Yesterday - at least here in Germany - i downloaded the 150 GB Yesterday.
W for you, I bought it for $30 on PC wish I had waited cause it's on my backlog lol
We're too lazy to even play our own games now?!
Or worse yet, the developers are told to not balance the game difficulty, as long as they can sell the solution.
@@Mac_Omegaly good point.
As a tennis fan, I loved the Top Spin series since the original. It’s crazy that top spin 3 on the ps3 still looks and runs so much better than the recent tennis games released from whoever is making them. Not that I put too much stock in a score, 78 is a bit “low” for the franchise (I feel). Still, I’ll check it out. I MISS a good tennis game and this is probably as close as we’ll get for this gen.
I still play the Virtua Tennis games to this day, they have the most fun gameplay in a tennis game imo. Nowadays, I avoid all mainstream sports games like the plague because in a year or less, the game is out of date, and sometimes obsolete.
Soren Johnson, game designer: Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game
Sony, designing a game: Hold my beer…
Nintendo already implemented a form of auto play Super Mario Galaxy 2, upon failing a course several times the player is given the option to let the game control Mario and finish the level instead. They won't get a regular Star however, instead a Bronze Star.
But it wasn't implemented to skip grinding. Kinda hilarious that their solution to boring filler content is to make players watch it instead of reducing it.
Watching it would be better than skipping as it would show the player how to tackle the level & maybe get that person to know how next time around they could probably have the guts to beat it.
If you have to grind for hours to level up to be able to beat a boss or get to a new area or whatever, that's just bad game design
Seems like you are inept and haven’t quite diversified your gaming portfolio.
Literally Monster Hunter is a game that is close to impossible to progress if you don’t grind in some way, shape or form. Grinding is inevitable for upgrading to better gear and weapons before you take on the rare and higher level monsters.
Overcoming difficulties results in a sense of accomplishment. The grind is a part of it. The youth of today is so weak because of easy hand holding inclusiveness bs, and can't even handle something of a moderate difficulty.
@@williamlowe8734Way to unnecessarily inject ideology into a comment.
Anyway, grinding doesn’t equal difficulty. It’s bad level design, and wasting player's time. Actually, grinding is so easy, even a stupid bot can do it.
@@cbgg1585 I'm not saying there shouldn't be any grinding, I'm just saying that doing a lot of it is just shitty game design and unfun
@williamlowe8734 Grinding isn't hard though, it's the opposite. It's mindless, repetitive bs and it's literally just used to pad out game design. That's why I love something like elden ring, like you can grind to beat bosses easier, but you could just also learn the boss's mechanics and attacks by playing it over and over and beating it that way
With the situation with Embracer Group, let's all look at the *bright-side:* At least the new different companies still consider themselves *"Friends"* even after splitting-up (although Asmodee Group doesn't seem to wanna be "Friends" anymore since it doesn't have that in its name 😂).
To me it isn't aboit grinding. It's an accessiblity feature.
I always thought autoplay was a stupid idea until I saw it in action.
My sister has nerve damage to her hands and I saw her use it to help her get past some random section in Psychonauts 2 that she just could not move well enough to get past.
When I commented on it, she pointed out that it was a lot easier than having to wait or bug someone that she could pass the controller to for help before going back to playing the game normally.
I am not going to lie: seeing it used like that seriously changed my mind. Autoplay is a godsend for accessibility because game devs just can't always anticipate every single disability that people can have. 🤷♀️
Sister needs to just git gud
@@Mycarisloose You can't serious. And I actually think you are.
Just shut it.
Embracer Group in always making news with these corporate shenanigans, but almost never with games.
Good morning world!

Silksong release announced at MS Indie Partners showcase next week? It's been rated in multiple regions AND it did pop up at a MS press event some years ago. Crossing fingers.
Please don't get yourself hyped. Life in general is much more enjoyable if you're not obsessed on something that most certainly could disappoint.
I like the idea of having options. I can imagine situations where a veteran can't play a game due to unfortunate circumstances, but can still enjoy the story and the action, could really use that "AGC" option.
There's always the possibility to let the game "play itself", so you see how to tackle that obstacle or boss, and then reload the save and do it yourself.
Having options is nice.
Thinking about it, Auto Play could be a nice accessibility option. Imagine you have to play a game with one hand and a part of a game is too difficult. An auto play option would let them skip it but still get to experience it.
GTA IV still has a game breaking bug in final mission on PC, there are workarounds like limiting framerate, but it should have been fixed by Rockstar a long time ago. There are some awesome new mods incoming for the game witch will make it look insanely good.
If they're designing auto play for grinding why not just simply make games less grindy?
Because Sony doesn't want to miss out on those sweet microtransactions that can be capitalized on by adding yet another layer of monetization.
My question: To what degree can the auto play ai mimic individual player behavior? Or does it just read the game's enemy ai script and respond accordingly?
The being closed off from everything around me is exactly what I loved about playing Elite Dangerous in VR. As far I could tell I was not chilling in my apartment, I was flying around space in my fantastic spaceships.
I guess Embracer just couldn’t quite wrap their arms around all of those acquisitions.
Not even hold hands
At least they have friends.
smart business move though
I really like Nintendo's approach to game assistance like Funky mode in Tropical Freeze or playing as Yoshi in Wonder.
Pay $70 for the game that plays itself! Wow, thanks Sony!
Think the quest will be compatible with the next xbox?
The "Friends" in each of Embracer Group subdivision stands for "Friends of Good Weather".
Embracer splitting itself is very weird move by them....
That is how you trim the fat. Split the company then dissolve the half you dont want.
Auto-play sounds interesting when it comes to potential game mechanics that you could create out of it, like a game centered around an evil AI that takes control of your character in a dynamic way. I could also see it being a very easy way to Ubisoft style open world checklists.
I've used VR for 6 years for gaming but mostly cardio fitness. I lost over 100 lbs and now have an athletic heart. Good to hear fitness mentioned. Not sure non VR user understand how useful VR is for fitness...
I just recently played through GTA IV again for the first time in many years, and I gotta say it still really holds up well. As long as you're ok with the graphics obviously being dated I'd say the story, characters and for the most part also gameplay is still awesome.
You know what would be great? If developers designed actual fun games with engaging gameplay cycles instead of making them a mindless grind and then designing an AI to take over so you don't have to go through the ordeal of playing the game yourself.
The Autoplay thing could be used against the player too, which could be pretty funny. Imagine reaching the final boss in like Dark Souls or something, only to find out you can't use Autoplay anymore. You pretty much get punished for not having the skill.
Kind of reminds me of MegaMan Battle Network 4. You can cheese through the game without skill by using Dark Chips, but the final boss takes that away and you're punished for lack of skill.
To be fair to Embracer group, I would absolutely invest in the Middle Earth and Coffee Stain companies.
As an investor, the potential for the Middle Earth Nemesis system would be a massive draw for me. Also, Coffee Stain makes Goat Simulator. Excellent AAA potential and AA actuality. 3
Asmodee, not so much. This will let investors invest in more of what they believe in, without throwing away their money at someones "art project."
To be fair, Asmoddee aren't bad either they're the bigger distributor in europe for Pokemon, Digimon, Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG's and they make plenty of revenue off of it. Good companies.
@@AdamAnouer Yes, that’s exactly my point. I wasn’t aware of what asmodee was, and never really sought to know. By splitting up, it allows me to invest more precisely in what I believe in.

Anyone remember Video Power on tv? That was pretty much the only way to see video of sneak peeks for new games coming out.
i'm debating on whether or not i should pick up topspin 2k25 now or wait until a sale
I understand how the transition from cheat codes to DLC was financially prudent, but I don't see the profit in AGC...unless it's a subscription model. What a time to be a gamer.
Ngl, "Middle Earth and Friends" mentioning the Tomb Raider franchise makes it sound like they're planning a crossover, like Lara finds a ring of power in an ancient tomb or gets isekaid to Middle Earth.
Sadly, I know it doesn't mean that. Still a weird divide.
I wonder if the massive push by indie developers had something to do with coffee stain being split off from the other two, it definitely makes sense because these three portions have different visions and if one failed previously it hurt the others.
Making games automatically grind for you is just a waste of energy. It's bad for your electricity bill and bad for the environment. The game might as well have a cheat code (remember them?) to skip the grinding. That's a far more efficient way to achieve the same thing, which doesn't involve consuming energy both for your console and whatever servers are powering the AI.
Embracer just missed a great opportunity to name it “Middle Earth and Fellowship”
"Autoplay":
I see the merit behind it and also the caution of it. This is for consoles to emulate what PC already has. That being the emulation of "afk farms". Where the pc can farm materials for you in certain games while you are away to make the game less grindy. The issue with this however is that console games aren't that grindy to begin with. Thus enabling such a feature could be a message to developers to encourage more "Grindy gamedesign". . . which is bad.
Beyond how this is a huge hacking vulnerability, other than that, the issue isn't the feature, but rather the precedent it could set for the type of games that come from it. It's a bad future if game developers take notice. Because how do you bypass artificial grind? That's right! Microtransactions for materials and experience boosters.
If it's possible to switch on an auto-player, then I think there needs to be rules. Such as not being able to collect trophies with it on, or not allowed to use at all in online competitive titles.
Wonder if the Meta OS opening up like this would get VR talks with Nintendo started up again. There was that rumor way back.
Games playing themselves…that’s for game ‘journalists’ who suck at games.
Or for people with disabilities that need help getting past that one problem quest/boss/jump that they just cannot manage to move well enough to get past.
Honestly thought autoplay was stupid myself until I saw my little sister (she has nerve damage in her hands) use that feature in Psychonauts 2 like that. She pointed out that it's better than having to wait on me to hand the controller to in order to get her past it.
Honestly can't deny her reasoning. So, yeah, there really is a reason for those kinds of features. 🤷♀️
You talkin’ ‘bout yoself?
Journalists that couldn't beat a game to save their life or careers. lol
Or folks with disabilities
So game devs make it more grind heavy so you can pay to go faster and now autoplay so you dont play it. Why not make the experience good again.
Being able to auto grind in JRPGs sounds like a dream come true.
It’s the result of Twitch and things like that; younger gamers are ok with watching others play games without ever even owning the game themselves; this new tech is a little like that, the idea of allowing an IA taking control and play while you watch. As an older gamer it’s nonsensical but for a youngster it may seem like a totally normal and useful tool.
as someone who watches twitch a lot and streamers play games, i wholeheartedly hate that idea. the only reason i watch streamers play games is because it’s their sense of humanity that i relate to. taking that away just ruins the fun, i love seeing streamers play my favourite games
Happy Tuesday to all!

I feel like Metaphor is going to be to Atlus what Elden Ring was for From Software.
What's funny, I decided to play Jedi Survivor yesterday because it came up in the news...
And the game was waaaay more buggy than it ever was at lunch on the Series X! The cut scenes were so jacked I was shocked at jist how bad it was.
So not too sure if the game WILL play much better now on console than it has previously.
Either way, still a great game I recommend to play
Regarding AGC, I think it’s always better to provide more optional settings for any single player game. Let people choose. The problem will be if people start using their modern AI Game Genie in multiplayer.
I like how with the AI patent. Nobody considered the application for people with Accessibility needs. What is someone wants to simply experience the game's story, or maybe watch how something is done and then try later. There's no right or wrong way to enjoy a game, so I'm open to that idea
AGC is like an auto version of macros. I remember setting up a macro to fight enemies while I'm away
As far as autoplay goes, if it can get me through stealth segments, but then let me take control of my character after, I'll be happy with it.
No one ever remembers Phil Spencer, on stage, saying the Xbox One X would work with an Oculus headset.
Frankly the Xbox being compatible with these headsets is long, LONG, overdue.
9:40 Did we forget about holodeck?
If anyone has played Final Fantasy 12 before they’ve technically already experienced an AGC type of gameplay. The gambit system offered the player to have each character perform/execute certain things at certain times. Specific areas in the game had enough spacing and spawn rates to where you can manipulate the system to play itself and grind. I can definitely see this as being a feasible option in RPG and action adventure types of games, but may not be practical for other types like FPS or platform types of games. I for one welcome that kind of thing as being an adult with a full time job and barely surviving takes up a lot of time I wish I had to play video games 🤣
Auto Play Function reminds me of the macros some of my friends made to grind in RuneScape back in the day

You know what my brain just reminded me of. Remember blue box and "Abandoned"? It's insane that they just built up a game and just stopped, well everything.
I'd like game devs to identify sections that are just grinding and eliminate them from the game. Maybe they can use this A.I. system to do that for them during play testing if they can't do it themselves.
Auto play as an accessibility option is great for disabled people who have issues completing the story even if it’s straight forward for normal people. Can’t say for any other use. These days most games have ton of accessibility options anyways which do make it easier for players.
the AGC seems like a great idea.... BUT you KNOW it's gonna be a "micro-transaction" type thing ... which is just awful.... and then it will become hated.... so there will HAVE TO be a no-cost type... or EARN the ability to do (x) amount of levels or (x) amount of progress after you've played for so long, or gotten to a certain level.... or else they're just gonna be people that use it to level up their character to 30 with some of the best weapons/armor/etc then go into the PvP/online part and just whoop everyone's butts because they spent $100 but know nothing about the game..... it could turn into what the mobile games are like (paying to level up) for a lot of the single player games bu8t then it goes to PvP or teams vs teams and they will SUCK at playing but be the best leveled person on the team LOL oh and they'll be 12 ... and spoiled.... and have a FOWL mouth LOL (can you tell I don't game very much?) lmao
I think it'd be pretty neat for microsoft to "test the water" so to speak with Meta / VR stuff in gamepass.
They already have the gamepass app on Meta (in Beta I believe) so they could kinda just drop a couple titles in there and see what happens.
For VR to become popular it needs be more affordable. Not many developers are willing or can afford to make games for a small player base.
in regards to the auto grind patent, i feel like this is just a lazy bandaid approach to fixing the issue rather than finding a way to make the gameplay loop actually enjoyable
Hope this doesn't affect auto play battles in Turn based Games
I kindda feel the Sony Paramount thing, the Kojima "interactive movies" with Columbia pictures, and this autoplay patent might have some sort of connection
When were getting hotshot tennis combat
Anyone remember IllumiRoom from Microsoft? That was pretty cool...you can still watch the concept videos...
The auto play like that is stupid that it removes having to play at all turning the game into a movie
I think the idea of ai playing my game that I paid £70 for sounds absolutely nuts, at that point I may as well watch a movie or even watch a let's play/stream.
I agree with you
A game playing itself seems like a microtransaction field day…
Can’t we evolve “Leveling” in games where we don’t have to “grind”? Is grinding to level up to beat a boss actually progression or just a number checkpoint?
