I am biased, I have season tickets and ive never seen a crowd affect the game with the opponents not being able to hear audible is a common occurance. Huge college football team the only stadiums that can match us are those with 90k+ and LSU.

I was a clarinet player in the MV's more decades ago than I care to admit. From the bell of the clarinet to the grass beneath your feet is about as far as the sound travels from the old licorice stick. If I had it to do over again I would have played sax in the marching band. Back in those days (I am not making this up) the MV's practice field was on the very south edge of the campus next to a cow pasture that belonged to the Tech Ag department. When we rehearsed, the cattle would all line up along the barbed wire and watch us rehearse. I remember thinking to myself, "If anybody at UVA hears about this, we will never hear the end of it." Word must have gotten out, because when we went to Charlottesville for the big game to march there at halftime that year, after were were done the famous UVA "pep band" took to the field, and a wise-guy UVA student took over the PA microphone, and they skewered and roasted us absolutely mercilessly. I didn't like it at the time, but looking back on it now I think it was hilarious, and I think UVA should never have dissolved its pep band.
