I'm not a Hokie fan but I've been a college football fan for forty-five years. Coach Beamer is a living legend, no doubt. Lane Stadium is one of the toughest places for a visiting team to play. These fans are great and this is what is known as a "hostile environment." Great tribute to a hall of fame coach.
Not really. Tech administration failing to properly support him caused him to lose his edge recruiting, and his tendency of losing cupcake games to inferior opponents cucked him. Even in 99, it took a literal fucking miracle for them to not lose to a sub-500 WVU team, and the year before they blew it to a Temple team that wouldn't win another game the rest of the year. The next year, they lost to Syracuse. Our best chance to go back to the Championship after that was probably 2007 because of all the shenanigans in the Top 10 that year, but nope, we lost to Boston College in the rain with 1 minute left. Basically made Matt Ryan's whole career. I LOVE Tech but we've definitely earned that "Chokies" moniker.

Beamer is definitely a legend but this guy coming in Justin Fuentes turned a horrible memphis program that was at the bottom of conf usa every year to a team competing for the aac title in just a few years...He will take Va Tech to the top again..Soon..And im not a Tech fan
29 years at one team. No scandals. No NCAA cheating. 100% graduation of his seniors. Incredible. Beamer is a class act.
