  • A nice old video of Frank doing a bunch of voter registration Public Service Announcements. You would think he's talking about today's political scene if you didn't know these were recorded in October of 1985. Enjoy some rarely seen Zappa video and remember to vote.

He would have made a great President. He called out all the bullshit in society through his music. "Nuff said.

We could really use a guy like this right now. His concerts and albums had real, substantial impact on my life, really influenced me as a young guy. Are there any pop or rock or rap acts now getting out and taking real action like this guy did? Most of them are corporate advertising manikins, concerned mainly about how many Instagram followers they have.

It's time you ask yourself, "How would Frank Zappa vote?"

Ask yourself. Would Zappa even find voting to be useful nowadays?

@@JonathanNelsonOfficial I highly doubt Zappa would have liked or voted for Trump. He talks about in interviews all the damage that Nixon, Reagan, and Bush Sr had done to the country. If anything I would bet Zappa would find many politicians on both sides to suck, and I could see him voting for an independent.

I appreciate the professionalism of this clip, too: Look at how many takes he got done in 7 minutes, and how he didn't waste a second of it.
And I'm coming back to this because people are now coming down on Taylor Swift for suggesting the exact same thing Frank did.

What I can say (as Russian) : if any part of this Zappa's speech was broadcasted in any way (cable of nationwide) - the political system at that time was MILES ahead of what Russia has now.

"Record-rating business". You know how we rate movies (G / PG / PG-13 / R / NC-17)? They were talking about doing that to music in the 1980s. CDs were still a new medium in 1985, and most music was sold on vinyl albums, or "records" as we called them as we played them in our caves.
