    I remember seeing your build a few years ago, and going on a Proton Pack binge lately again, I thought I’d watch this again. One of the best, most relaxing build videos out there!
    So crazy it took *so* long to deliver this shell, and with so much work that still needed to be done to it, this definitely took a lot of patience. The pack came out beautiful and I hope it still holds up today.
    The prop scene has come a long way since your build, some of us now with multiple proton packs thanks to Hasbro and Spirit! Though your video is older now, it’s still a very viable resource in paint work, patch ups, and adding real hardware to the shell - so I’ll be referring to it when I tackle my full-size Spirit Pack mod.
    Excellent video and Proton Pack! Hope you’re still busting out there 👍🏼

    I have the same pack. Finished in in 2020. I had every same issue you had.
    Also did what you did, upgraded everything from the get go.
    I give the kit a 6/10. A lot of tuning needed to get things to sit flush.
    I just upgraded my motherboard with an all aluminum one this weekend. Well worth it.
    I used all the Anovos lights and actually drilled the LED bulbs into them. Easy to undo if the bulb dies.

    I have done nearly everything the way you have. Started with the Anovos kit and made all the GB Fans upgrades. This whole video was deja vu. I did however go one step further to make the barrel extendable. Considering that Anovos didn't even acknowledge the existence of the green lever, made it probably the worst part of the whole build.

    • @Bombasticentertainment
      @Bombasticentertainment  Před 4 lety +2

      I attached a DC barrel jack to the outgoing power jack on the battery, and used the push button as a master "break" between the battery power and the electronics. Since the battery is always on inside the pack, the external power button now functions to feed or cut power to the electronics.
      I did the same thing for the external power port; wiring a DC power jack, and soldering the leads of that to the external charging port.
      Hope that helps!

    I bought the kit when it was first released... I think that is going on 8 years ago lol. It has been sitting for that long and recently my son has gotten into Ghostbusters, so I think it is time to dust it off. I had bought a lot of upgrades as well for it at the time (I am just not that handy and this kit was still intimidating). Your video is great and has given me confidence to start. One of the upgrades I made though is a glass wand tip, so I was wondering if you would suggest a way to run the hat lights that would not involve drilling a hole (I assume that would be bad)

    I have a question regarding the external charging port. I bought the same battery and connector cable from the battery to the sound board. Did you find an adapter of some kind for that? Thanks in advance!

    • @Bombasticentertainment
      @Bombasticentertainment  Před 4 lety

      I used DC barrel jacks and wire to create appropriate extension cables from the battery to the soundboard, and from the battery to the external panel mount jack creating the external charging port -- with the port on the outside, I never have to open up the pack for charging. Some light soldering was required. Make sure to cover your soldered wires with shrink tube, to properly insulate any exposed wiring.

      Thanks. I picked up some dollar store flashlights as well. I'll post pics once I get electronics in (waiting for it to ship from GB fans, starting to sweat if it will be here in time). As for electronics in the tip, I took a different approach, but took a cue from your idea of using putty to backfill and paint. My plan was to drill a channel and fish wires through, then later backfill with epoxy and paint (once everything is wired in and confirmed working). Here is a pic so far... snipboard.io/SMEFDb.jpg
      You don't know any other source for hat lights do you? I ordered a set from GBFans, but it won't be here until middle of Nov. My plan B if push comes to shove is to just tape over the wires and have it be missing them , (not really a plan, but the absence of a plan, lol). I just don't want to box myself into a corner with a temporary solution.

I also ordered many upgrade parts from the GB Fans site as well as the wand light bezel kit from Spongeface. I have a question about that bezel kit. How is it held in place? I did dremel down that ridge on top of the thrower and widened the slot. I am afraid to make the slot too big so as to have the bezel fall right through. Did you glue it in place or is it supported from inside? Thanks in advance.

    • @Bombasticentertainment
      @Bombasticentertainment  Před 4 lety

      It's a little of both...IIRC, I believe I friction fit the bar graph from below, then glued the bezel down from the top.

    • @richardfrechette6141
      @richardfrechette6141 Před 4 lety

      Hi and thank you for the reply. I have a couple of other questions. In my kit the fit between the front handle and rear handle of the wand is extremely loose. Did you use glue to hold them together or add screws to ensure they stayed together. Did painting the metal tube black make for a tighter fit? Also, I too purchased the Clippard valves and drilled the extra holes to place them. Did you glue them in place or use screws for that. The screws that came with the Clippard valves are not long enough to use. Did you have to get additional screws?

    • @Bombasticentertainment
      @Bombasticentertainment  Před 4 lety

      Mine was also loose. After installing the electronics, I used epoxy to attach the front handle to the wand body.
      For the clippards, the included screws will back thread out and you can replace them with longer screws that will work for you. Mine are screwed into place, secured by nuts on the underside. A little glue/epoxy doesn't hurt.

      I did get the GBfans speaker. It's pretty good, but it's nothing special; there's plenty of alternatives.
      The standoffs are accurate to a GB2 style pack, which this is. Make sure to put washers on both sides of your acrylic (to keep it from flexing/cracking under the wight) and it'll hold the pack weight no problem. They did not come with the pack or frame; I purchased them at the hardware store. I only have 3 bolt/standoffs holding my entire pack, which again, is accurate to a GB2 pack.

    Long story short, don't buy from Anovos.

      I will give them this; the pack is based off of 3D scans of existing props, so while there is some idealized decisions, as a base; it's about as close to a screen used shell as you could hope for (warts and all) and your mileage may vary. Make of that what you will.
