Awesome video! I really liked the nail wrapped with sandpaper, and the candle lathe. Thank you!
Thanks Odin! Yes, those are both old tricks from back when I used to make jewellery, super handy.
I guess we are gonna see a candle lathe soon in a month
I’ve seen many MANY foam packs and wands. This is by far the best for sure. Keep up the great work!
Wow, what a compliment, thank you very much!
Yo dude you commented on my proton pack video! Thanks!!
I genuinely could wait forever if I had to for another one of your vids. They never miss and its always a joy to see you again! This wand looks incredible, dude! Definitely trying some of these techniques for my future ghostbuster builds 🤩
Awww, how kind🙂 Thanks for being so patient, It seems every single thing I do takes waaaay longer than I expect.
I think that wax lathe and caulk mold making technique is the single most useful technique I've seen on any prop channel in a while. Thanks! I'm gonna have to try that.
That's so good to hear! I used to make jewellery and used the wax lathing technique all the time. It's such a satisfying activity, almost mesmerizing....
There are lots of other silicone mold making vids around but the two other most important points are to use 100% silicone caulk (one with additives may or may not work out) and do it outside or with good ventilation, because it off-gasses eye-wateringly strong vinegar fumes.
@@quinbee_creates Great points!
I literally just asked for this last night!!! I’m just about done with the pack!
Nice, I hope it's turning out well for you!
You did it! You son of a gun did it! Honestly I didn’t think you might have been able to pull the wand off after seeing your pack build. You’re technique is genius especially the hand grips and the patterned knob.
Yeah, I wasn't sure how it would turn out either, but I'mm really happy with it!
So glad to see another video from you and looking forward to part 2 next week! You make amazing items every single time!
Thank you so much!
Awesome stuff. Looking forward to the second half. Thank You for your time and effort on this channel.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’m so excited to start on this build!!
So thorough, so detailed, and so many clever tips.
Glad it was helpful!
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS THANK YOU!!!
Sure thing!
You're a damn genius! Thank you for sharing and putting it out for us to use for free! It looks beautiful.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Awesome! Thanks so much for making these patterns and posting the how-to videos!
You are so welcome!
Learned some cool techniques in this video. Thanks. Great work as always!
I am absolutely blown away by your videos, Chris. They're fantastically entertaining to watch and the results always look amazing. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
A Ghost Trap and/or A P.K.E. Meteor would be awesome for the next Ghostbusters build. I would love to know how you come up with the design for the build, a lot of research must be involved with each design.
Hmmm, I think I'm gonna so something not Ghostbusters next, but maybe sometime down the road if I get enough requests. And yep, I do quite a bit of research, and it involves a lot of trial and error as well:)
I am so excited to get started on this!! Amazing work as always. I am just about done with my foam pack so this pattern and video came just in time.
Perfect!
Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome!
This is outstandingly cool!
As you promised! And i have been waiting for this day when this vid comes out. Thanks.
You're welcome, thanks for waiting!
Your attention to detail is wonderful. I love your designs.
Thank you so much!
Ingenius - I particularly liked the handgrip construction, and the faux knurling.
Thanks, I was pretty proud when I figured those out:)
Just finished making the first part of the neutrona wand and it looks amazing thanks for showing us how to make such stunning master piece!
Wow, that was super fast!! Glad it's working out!
love it so good to see you again
STUNNING. You’re craftsmanship is just breathtakingly brilliant.
Thank you very much!
Awesome build.
As usual, fantastic video! Can't wait for the next one!
Thanks so much!
YES!! The project is complete! Now if anyone ever asks you if you're a god, you can say (with confidence), "YES!!" ❤❤❤
Srsly tho, thank you for the entire proton pack project!
😂 I'm not so sure about that, but you are very welcome!
Thanks so much! I can finally finish the proton pack
You're welcome! Have fun!
fantastic video. I can't wait to see part2. most of the names of the parts of both the wand and proton pack were given by the fans. that particle thrower looks magnificent.
Thanks!
Very nice! You did somethings here that I hadn't thought of. Anxious to see the next video.
Coming on Saturday. I just finished editing, so it's definitely gonna be done!
Another great make! Thankyou. Can’t wait to get started. Keep them comingz
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you so much, awesome work and great video. Can't wait for part 2.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
YES, now I can finish my proton pack build for a con
Thanks for waiting! It took way longer than I expected to get this pattern made......
@@LostWax yea I was looking at making the templates myself from a 1984 Spengler wand scan with the correct measurements but I couldn’t find the best way to do it
@@deeznuts23yearsago Yep, especially trying to make it from accessible materials.
Been waiting for this tutorial..love it dude. Always finding incredible ways to make all these parts. I'm always thinking there's no way he's going to not buy that piece, then you bang it out from home. It's such a peculiar prop with odd shops yet you still hit the accuracy for a scratch build.
You are sure right about it being a peculiar prop with odd shapes. When I first started I thought it would be an easy build, but it's definitely got some tricky bits:)
Thank you sooo much for making this it looks so good
I'm glad you like it
I'm building Protonpacks for cosplayers, fans and myself for a while now and i must say: the way you created the Clippard and the top knob is just genius..!
Thank you for appreciating those bits:) I really struggled to find a reasonably good way to make the knob, that wasn't too expensive or out of reach for most.
This is gold
This is brilliant!
Thank you!
ohhhhhhh, I like it!!
Thanks!!
Awesome!
Awesome work
Awesome job man !
Thank you! Cheers!
I bought your templates/instructions for my brother's Halloween build. Very impressed! Outstanding detail but easy to follow. Now if we can just get better at cutting the foam straight... :D
Glad to hear it was helpful! As for cutting foam, it'll come with practice.
This is amazing!!!
Thanks!
This is rad, would love to see the Rocketeer jet pack build!!!!!!!!!
So it begins! Starting this today and hoping to have it done by Halloween. Thanks!
Have fun!
très réaliste bravo Thank you ! You are very great
Thank you!
Good job man!
Thanks!
I will definitely make this and the proton pack
In friday me and my mom will get the materials from a amazing shop with everything for stuff like this
Awesome
Awesome!!!! I love the videos! Next could you make a ghost trap?
I'm not sure if I'll get around to a ghost traps any time soon, I've got a lot of other projects on my list:)
@@LostWax cool!
You really need to get into using contact cement. But the gnarled knob technique is genius.
Yeah, I have used contact cement in the past, but I have trouble recommending to people when I know there is a good chance they won't use proper respiratory protection. My son was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was 6 and I don't want anyone else to have to go through that nightmare. So even though it takes a bit longer, I'd rather use something less toxic. Once I got used to it, I actually quite liked using hot glue, it does have some advantages contact cement doesn't.
Awesome 👏🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
This is epic!
Thank you!
@@LostWax found myself looking at rubber mats today 😁
@@richardpaul2241 😂
Hooolllyyyyy crrsasssppppp!!!!!!
10:05... amazing😢
Muy lindo mucha precisión, para realizarlo hay que tener todas las medidas justas
Love the foam vids!!! Have you considered building a housing from 1/4 luan or hobby Store wood to create a sturdy base in housing to make either twist handle or green side trigger and add rumble motor?
No I haven't thought about that, but it sounds like an interesting idea....
I like these much better than the shell kits. Anyone can build a Lego set with premade shapes.
Thanks!!
silicone reacts with latex gloves, so remember to use nitrile ones if you're going to use your hands
🤯
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice to see you back! (first)
Good to be back😁Nice to see you too!
The part you did out of the candle could be a spool of thread minus the thread :)
Good idea!
Fantastic video, great tutorial, what density is your 10mm and 6mm foam ?
I don't really know, it would be a medium density.
Now make a Ghostbusters mini movie.
Hehe, I wish I had the time!
15:41 now we know where the last glue stick lid is
Thank you so much for these tutorials. I made a proton pack following them. I e-mailed you photo’s of the result. Did you get them?
Hi there, I don't think I saw them, I'll go look if it went in my junk mail!
@@LostWax Love to hear what you think about it. I mailed the photo’s to you on september 17th.
Question: How does hot glue & foam hold up in warmer climates? I'm in Southern Louisiana and some of our charity events are outdoors all day and I was just wondering how much softening/loosening hot glue does in the heat or in direct sunlight? Is there another way to hold foam together that you'd recommend?
Hi there, Yes, hot glue can get soft if it's in the direct sun, especially if it is black. You can see me testing hot glue in a hot car here: czcams.com/video/iayq7iFnlgQ/video.html For an alternative glue, contact cement is going to be the best, just make sure you have adequate lung protection, and best to do it outside. Super glue also holds really well on foam, it's good for smaller parts.
When cutting the candle on the homemade lathe, did some fly off and become......... wait for it...... LoSt WaX? :P
😂
Amazin!!! Where buy foam in internet? I am crazy, dont find 😢. Thank you so much
I have a few links on my webpage that might help out: www.lostwaxoz.com/product-links/
@@LostWax oh my god thank you. I hope to send my country. In Spain have not this foam. Thank youuuuuu
Has anyone in the UK made this yet? Really struggling to source the correct size tubing!
Be sure to glue the parts correctly cuz I just glued it together and it made it to the left-handed instead of right-handed
I would absolutely love to try this but when I follow the link it only has the back build but no wand. Can you help?
I just checked and it seems to be working. There are 3 separate PDF's to download. After you go through the checkout and get your email, click the "view content" link, and you should see "proton pack final", "Alice pack frame" and "Neutrona Wand complete" Click the download button next to the Neutrona Wand and you should be good to go.
Oh, I should mention, it's included with the proton pack build, and that one item has the three PDF's in it.
Great video! My proton pack and Neutrona Wand will be outside for a Halloween display. I am going to use contact cement to glue it together instead of hot glue. I wish I could use hot glue. Any thoughts on how I could get the welded look without using hot glue?
I think you could use caulking- make sure it's paintable, and then just squeeze it out like you'd do with hot glue. Just means you have to give it time to dry before you can move on.
@@LostWax, awesome, yes, good idea!!
How long did it take you to build your neutrona wand?
To be honest, I don't know as I was designing and filming at the same time...
ghostbusters
como optenemos el papercraft
Why do you choose to use hot glue instead of barge contact?
It's just a personal choice, I know that contact cement has a lot more toxic fumes, and I have a hard time recommending that to people, knowing they probably won't use it with proper respiratory protection. Our son went through cancer when he was 6, and I just don't want in any way to contribute to that happening to someone else.
:)
this guy has the same shower curtain as i do
😂
I really want to do this for halloween!! About how much did it cost to make the wand and pack? Im thinking of only making the pack but im kinda broke 😭 i cant seem to find any good floor mats either and though i was thinking of making it out of wood, i dont have any machinery. Where did you get your floor mat?
I got my floor mat at Canadian Tire, but unless you're in Canada that's not going to be super helpful. If you have no money or tools, I'd recommend making it out of cardboard. I have seen a couple cardboard packs made from my pattern and they actually turned out pretty good. Just don't take it out in the rain:)
@@LostWax I've started making mine with foam that I got from michaels!! The tutorial has been really helpful and straightforward and I've been able to paint it already! I'm getting really close to the decorating stage and its only the second day! Thanks so much for the tutorial!!!
@@refreshingwaves2792 Awesome! That's great to hear you found some materials!
Project?
I accidentally tasted the rainbow... is that ok?
Found some skittles in my work apron pocket.
sweet find!!
If it is not personal about financials. But what was the worth of all of this?
I'm not sure what the total cost was, to be honest I didn't keep track.
i'm still hoping you will accept a commission for the pack/alice frame
Sadly, I haven't got the time....
@@LostWax I understand buddy :)
Anyway, I bit the bullet and I bought the spirit pack, I'll modify the lights and I'll link the spengler's wand to it. It will be a less daunting project than building it from scratch. Still I watch you vids coz they are that damn good :)
Is there a reason why WTF 2mm foam isn’t available…I tried to contact the people on the website but it doesn’t seem possible now? Did the company go down?
Hmm, I'm not sure about that, whether they're just sold out because of Halloween, or if it's something else. Another place to try is TNT cosplay supply if you're in the U.S.
@@LostWax I’m in Ontario Canada…anywhere else I could get it here?
@@johnhynesproductionslimite7522 Hey fellow Canadian!! You could probably get away with just regular craft foam. Michaels generally has it in large rolls of black and white, and it's pretty cheap. As for the higher density stuff like WTF, I don't actually know where to get it in Canada. BTW, Michaels also has rolls of thicker foam as well that's pretty decent.
Forget it I’ll do it myself because you’re a little video doesn’t solve anything for me😢
@Elistopmotion what doesn't it solve
