    Another great video for a cheap Proton Pack. Though you got quite creative with a number of the brass and angled fittings, there are still a lot of alternate read-made parts that one would find in the plumbing section of a hardware store that work just perfectly.
    Also, if you wanted a more 'true' paint chipping method, you could first paint the entire pack (or just the main areas you need) a silver colour, then use a masking medium like liquid latex or toothpaste to mask off the chipped areas of the pack. Such as along edges and ridges that would get the most wear and tear. Then paint the entire pack black. Once dried, simply rub/wipe the spots you masked and you will reveal the silver underneath. Makes for a more realistic chipped paint look.

    • @LostWax
      @LostWax  Před 2 lety

      That's a great idea for the paint chipping, I'll have to give it a try!

I definitely recommend buying his guide which includes plans of everything Chris has made over the years, I did and from a creative standpoint its one of the best investments I've made. • @LostWax
      @LostWax  Před rokem

      I'm not a fan of using regular spray paint, it just gives such thin coverage, it's hard to add the worn silver antiquing on top of it. If you want to spray it, you could use plastic-dip, it gives a rubbery coating that is great. Just make sure to not breathe it in when you are doing it!

    • @LostWax
      @LostWax  Před 2 lety

      I don't try to harden the foam. If you put a brittle coating over it and it flexes you're just gonna get cracks. Rather try to have a flexible coating that will move with the foam.

    Can I ask why the epoxy for certain parts instead of the glue gun? Is it simply a case of what will bond best to the materials, ie epoxy for anything with metal or plastics but all foam seems to be glue-gun primarily? Thanks in advance!

      @LostWax  Před 2 lety +2

      Yep, that's pretty much it, hot glue doesn't stick well to metal especially, and some plastics aren't that great either.

      @@LostWax Thanks for the reply, good to know! And I've bought the Ultimate Everything Super Value Pattern Bundle already - AMAZING value. Can't wait to build this with my son who is nearly 5 after we finish another project - sorry I couldn't wait for the Proton Pack to be added so cheekily grabbed that too! This is such a good entry into the world of building along with cardboard for young (and young-at -heart) makers. Thanks so much!

    Egon: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
    Peter: What?
    Egon: Don't cross the streams.
    Peter: Why?
    Egon: It would be bad.
    Peter: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean "bad"?
    Egon: Try to imagine all life as you know as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
    Ray: Total protonic reversal.
    Peter: That's bad. Okay. Alright, important safety tip, thanks Egon.

    Can you tell us about the Twinkie… I mean the T Rex Tape? I don’t see it in the video description, or mentioned on your website’s “Materials/Tools Used” page. Thanks!

      It's too hard to know, because I am adapting the pattern and filming at the same time, it takes me waaaay longer than it would take building straight off the pattern.

    At 07:44 what is that item you are cutting to use for the wiring? I want to use that for my own Proton Pack I'm building. Thanks 👍🏾

      That's a piece of tubing that used to be commonly used for sinks, like between the valve where the water comes in and the tap. You could also use something like the tube from a pen or any other small tubing you can find.
