  • Tri Tip is my favorite cut of meat to cook, and that means you'll usually find me smoking and grilling it. But sometimes life gets busy and I don't have time to hang out at the smoker or the grill, and for those times this preparation works wonderfully using a slow cooker, some seasoning, and a mix of potatoes, carrots, and onions. This is truly a set-it-and-forget-it way to make delicious, juicy Tri Tip for the whole family.

    2 hours on low usually brings a tri-tip to 130 to 140° internal depending on the size of the tri-tip. I usually bring mine to 130 and then reverse Sear if im using a crock on rainy days.
    Nice video👍

      My wife's family is from Ireland so the HP sauce is pretty well known in this house :)

    Plate presentation was awesome. When it gets to cold to grill, I’ll try it.

  • @RaspberryRockOffGridCabin

    I need a slow cooker that I can use on the wood stove. I like meals like this, and I'm a big fan of carrots cooked like that too.

    • @CookingWithRy

      Cast Iron Dutch Oven would work well there, I'd think :)

    Hey Ry. That's how I Cook my pot roast. I'm with you on the carrots I could eat them like that for breakfast and dinner and supper

    I smoked my first Tri Tip last weekend (perfect med rare). It’s not a cut easily found where I am in Michigan. I agree probably my new favorite meat to smoke.
    With slow cooker season approaching here, I will certainly give this a try, slow cooker beef roast is a favorite in the house.
    I’m also with you, love cooked carrots and no one else in family likes them, which is fine, more for me! Thanks for the video!

      I'm still always surprised when I hear how difficult it is to get Tri Tip in many areas. It's as common as chicken in Southern California :)

      Cooking With Ry you folks are lucky! It’s a special order through my butcher, but at least I can get it now that I know about it. Has to be best kept secret for beef. Easy to cook with excellent texture and flavor.

    Tri-tip is your favorite? I never would have guessed. Slow cooker was a great idea. Like the idea of putting some of the juice over it, but my wife would want to use the juice to make gravy. But I am from the south and we love our gravy!!!!! Keep up the great work!!!

    Great video Ry, I’ve watched your other tri tip videos and tri tip looks awesome. I had it when i was in san diego 2 years ago and it was good. This cut of beef is hard to get over east coast. I went to my local butcher and he said they don’t offer it. So I might have to order it online lol. Anyway keep them awesome videos coming my friend. #keepbbqing

    I have yet to do a slow cooker tri tip, I'll have to try it since my pit has seen so many of them. Granulated garlic and onion are superior to powdered versions, you got it right!

    Looks good to me bro. Who says you can't cook a tri tip well done. 😁 The first tri tip video I did was cooked like a brisket. It has been my most controversial video to date.

    That looks delicious, my wife just said we're trying it this week. I'll admit though, when you said no grill or smoker, I was hoping for a dutch oven recipe. 😉

    I gave you a thumbs up just for taking the time and effort to do this. But I could never do this to a tri-tip. they are destined to be grilled!!

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  Před 5 lety

      I agree, but sometimes if you've got a hungry mod to feed and little time, this will do :)

    • @woolval1793
      @woolval1793 Před 5 lety +1

      If the mob is hungry they'll love it even more! LOL, my wife swears that's why we end up eating so late everyday. I do it so, no matter how it comes out, her hunger tells her it's good.

    Did it have that classic "post roast" taste to it? That's the only thing I would be worried about. Other than that, looks awesome!

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  Před 5 lety

      It did. The simple seasoning and the beef broth/onion combination helped it along in that regard :)

    Any reason why you did not sear the TriTip prior to putting in the slow cooker?

    • @CookingWithRy

      Just to show that it ca be done without having to do that.

      Cooking With Ry Well you certainly succeeded! Great job!!

  • @daniel1c
    @daniel1c Před 5 lety +1

    Ry, I realize your intent is to simplify here, but I feel if you first do a high sear browning of the surface than proceeding to your steps would give a significant flavour boost

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  Před 5 lety +1

      You can certainly do that, and I usually do, but you are correct--I wanted to show the simplest way to do this :)

    Wondering if a good sear wouldn’t have been in order before going in the pot. Would be more appealing.
