How to Cook A Tri Tip Steak In The Oven - Tri Tip Beef Roast

- This Tri Tip Steak was cooked in the oven. I typically would cook Tri Tip on the grill, but many of my subscribers don't have a grill, so I wanted to show them that you don't necessarily need a grill to cook a great tri tip steak. I basically used the same technique that I would on the grill. This tri tip steak was wonderful. It has slices that ranged from medium to medium rare. I really liked the rub that was sent to me by Howlin smoke BBQ. The coffee rub was a very savory rub which combined well with the gunpowder rub he sent me. If you dont have a BBQ grill, you can still cook great steaks in the oven using this technique.

Thanks. I really like how that tri tip came out
I LOVE watching you cook AND especially taste test! That looks good, tender & juicy! TFS 💕
I was acting a fool in this video. The tri tip came out really well
When making a oven tri tip I follow your directions every time and it comes out PERFECT 👌. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for letting me know
Thanks for sharing Lyle, it is always nice to show how different methods and approaches when it comes to cooking, especially if you do not have a grill.
Thanks. I would say that less than half of my subscribers own grills or smokers
You are the best I have seen not a lot of time yapping straight to cooking love it. love your sense of humor also
Just tried your method today. 2Lb tip took about 60 mins at 225 in the oven. Then I grilled it on the iron grill plate on my stove top, 5 mins on each side. Came out perfectly! Thank you! Great idea!
Thanks for stopping by my channel. I appreciate it
For some reason I am just seeing this comment. I really appreciate it
Love your style/humor! Just subscribed! I got a Tri Tip and I needed to cook it tonight for dinner in an oven. So I’m following your recipe! Thanks for posting this!
Thanks for checking it out. I was feeling a little stupid when I made this video..lol
Tri-tip is awesome. I got a gift certificate to a local butcher two years ago, and had never tried tri-tip, but they said to try it. It was amazing.
I really like Tri Tip. It is probably my favorite roast
I like your style, the way you explain everything. God bless you bro.
I'm not a huge fan of this video. I was messing around when I did this one. I do appreciate you checking it out
Love this!! Great common sense tips along the way!😁
This looks perfect!
Thanks. It turned out well.
Looks wonderful Lyle.....Great job!
Thanks cheryl. That tri tip turned out well
Love your soap before and after tip.
I was acting a fool in this video. If i knew this many people were going to watch it, i would have taken it more serious..lol
Lyle, I don't have a smoker, and I'm not very handy at using my gas grill, so it's great to learn from you on how to roast your trip-tip in the oven! Good tips on food handling! That's so important yet easy to overlook! Leland's rub did a great job!! Your meat is perfect for tacos! I need to try this!
LOL. I was trying to act a fool in this video. I really liked those rubs. I wish I made 2 tri tips. We went through all of that
Great video and thanks for the humor GOD BLESS YOU😂
LOL. THank you for stopping by
awesome looking tri tip! It's a very popular cut out here in the middle of California and we use it frequently, I do a similar oil and rub technique although my rub is just powdered beef bouillon. and I like to cook my tri-tip low and slow in the oven
Usually when I am cooking tri tip for my self, i just go direct heat on the grill. I take mine pretty rare myself. This really came out well.
Steak is my hubby favorite so this is definitely appreciated👍🏾😀
Tri tip is a really good steak roast. It is getting pretty popular
I love the recipe
Oh wow, I can totally do this!
Now I want Steak for my next cheat meal!!! lol Great video man!!!
That tri tip made for some good tacos
That's beyond well done
I think you should make a video doing it. You will make more money than criticizing
Great job as usual Lyle ☺.After I watched your video, I sauteed some left over beef tenderloin in some Manwich sauce--yep the sloppy joe sauce, lol, and it was amazing. I then I sauteed some bell peppers and onions, during the sautee, I seasoned it with cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, ceyenne pepper, a little black pepper, and some dried italian herbs.
I also meant to mention that I used the same seasoning for the cooked leftover tenderloin--except for the dried italian herbs. I had some cheese eggs and sliced tomatoes on the side, it was a very yummy brunch meal. 😋😋😋😋😃😃☺☺☺🙌🙌🙌
Awesome job, looks good. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I felt like I was you at a garage sale when I found that tri tip for under $4 a pound
Now im hungry LOL Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking it out. I appreciate it
Nice job, Lyle!! Excellent info on cooking beef in the oven. I don't think we ever had steak on a grill growing up, that was just hamburgers and hotdogs. My mom always cooked beef, cheap cuts, in the oven or on the stovetop. I'm so glad you are following hygienic kitchen protocols. I'm going to see if my store carries this magical soap you speak of. 😜
lol. I had fun with that one. you can't beat soap. I wish I had cooked 2 of those tri tips. we killed that one
No HIppie what kind of knife is that you are cutting the meat with?
This is the knife that I used www.amazon.com/JerkySpot-Jerky-Cutting-14inch-Slicing/dp/B014KF8KSE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1502714110&sr=8-4&keywords=jerky+knife
what's up my man...? You went from having hair... and popping up with no hair. all I can say is this is a classic no hippie BBQ video. the meat looks good my friend. you did a mighty fine job to that tri-tip.
This looks so good. I'm not the biggest fan of steak because I feel like it's too chewy but I would try this!
Sometimes chewy steak has to do with the cut, how it is sliced (cutting with the grain as opposed to against the grain) or the cooking method. This tri tip was really good. I wish I made 2
Yum! That looks great Lyle. Even I could make this under the broiler as I don't own a smoker etc.
Its always good to see y our comments. I think i have another one of your coming down the pike
Looks delicious Lyle thanks for doing something like this that we who have no smoker or BBQ skills can also make
Thank you. Going to try tonight
Thanks for stopping by
Lord have mercy this looks so good!
I think it's hilarious when I see comments about the hands on the food! I'm like they ain't invite you to dinner so hush! I guess we know who doesn't wash their hands huh? Lol
Pure Deliciousness! Nice presentation :) tfs
Thanks. I appreciate it
Not the shower cut hair etc come back I’m 💀💀😂😂😂 looks tender tho
looks so yummy
Thanks. I love some tri tip steak
yw
This stuff right here soap.......I'm on the ground screaming........fan for life 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This looks really yummy:)tfs!
Its hard to mess up a tri tip steak
Hey Lyle that looks fabulous, I've never heard of a coffee rub....does it taste like coffee when cooked? Tfs and take care 😊 👍 💕 👌
It doesnt really taste like coffee. It just adds a nice savory touch to it. It was a really good tri tip. I wish I made 2
Great idea on the video series Lyle. I laughed at the soap and shower portion....good to go! Gloves are for boxing man, not cookin'. Oh wow, tri-tip tacos....Rock On! Deliciousness. Looked beautiful.
Thanks man. I had fun making that video. I hope you are doing well
That looks wonderful. I think I could almost smell it. lol :-)
It was really good. Tri tip is great for tacos
Looks good my dear :)
Lyle, I loved your info-mercial about soap! Hahahha
Soap is magical,,lol. I had fun making that video
LOL I love the complete costume change including the hair
LOL. I had fun making that Tri Tip video. I got a bunch of vegetarian stuff on the way
This tri tip looks so juicy and delicious 😋
It was really good to be cooked in doors
Good tips on food handling. I will take a shower before and after next time I cook something.
LOL. i was definitely acting a fool in that video
That will be good in those tacos. Nice job Lyle.
It was good, and its all gone. I should have cooked two of those tri tips
Amen! Soap works all the time. That looked good. I would want to dip it in the juices.
I was just clowning about the food police..lol. That tri tip steak was good
I know you were. LOL but they are out there!
Hey Lyle! Good cook for those who are stuck indoors. Very cool of Leland to send You some rubs. I really like his beef coffee rub. The other rub sounds similar to the Tatonka Dust rub, from Owens BBQ. It has that ground charcoal in it. At the end of a cook, on the pellet smoker I'll sprinkle some of it on, just to give whatever that charcoal taste. You know……. because I hate the taste a pellet gives. But that's just Me. :-)
I really havent minded the flavor of the pellet smoker. How much longer does your brisket have to wet age? I think I am going to rock my next on on the 4th. Leland has one wet aging also. It will be nice to see how they come out
It will be 45 days on the 1st. Should have it done on sunday. I'm anxious to see also. I'm still not sure how I'll do it. But I am going to be using Leland's coffee rub.
Rock On!….. and keep making the awesome Que!!!
I'm going to cook this next one on the WSM. Probably just salt and pepper on this one. Maybe some habanero powder if I can buy some and dry them in time
looks great like and share
Thanks
hahahaahah! Love the soap suggestion, and the shaved head. But seriously, very nice recipe!
I was acting a fool in this video. The tri tip was very good in spite of me being silly
How long do we cook it
It's not so much a time thing, its an internal temperature thing. How done do you like it?
Looks great as usual. What kind of knife is that?
I got that meat slicer on Amazon. it is actually sold as a jerkey slicer. a lot less than the knives marketed as regular meat slicers
Question years later Bahahaha. But when cutting tri tip are you cutting WITH the grain or against? This is still my go to video EVERYTIME. I'm making one right now as a matter of fact & I'm back getting instructions AGAIN. Lol
wish I could find tri-tip that cheap in Maryland, looks great
Tri Tip is usually around $7 here. I got 2 a couple weeks ago for $5 and then I saw this sale and got 3 more. I should have got 6 more
You always go the extra mile brother! Haha! Nice video!
Cheers Lyle!
Thanks brother. I just wanted to see if you sent anything yet? I havent got anything in the mail. Cant wait for your next video

I thought that it turned out really well. I usually take it a little more rare
That shit is hella overcooked without sounding like a hater
Dam meat is expencive out there got mine for 2.28 a lb beef loin tri tip roast .. Thanks for the info cooking mine just like that now
You are lucky
Looks nice and juicy :)
I really like how the tri tip came out
went from looking like a young Forrest Whittaker to Daniel Cormier real quick hahaha.
lololol. I am dying over here
3.99 a pound for choice?? That's a steal. Great vid.
Thanks. I wish I bought like 6 of them
fingers crossed, i'm going in on my first tri tip.
Whether you do it in the oven or the grill, just make sure the temperature is right. What doneness are you looking for?
How long did it take
Laura, I wish I could tell you, but this was a while ago. I would say around 35 minutes total, but it would vary depending on the thickness. I usually cook by temperature and not time. For a rare one, I would cook it to about 120 degrees before throwing it under the broiler. I would go to 135ish for medium and about 145 for well done
🤣well then don't lie. Liked your vid. Just the way, I want to make mine. Medium rare. Ty.
Leland is awesome to send you some of his rubs :-) Wash your hands with soap before and after handling any meat :-) @ 5:03 "I love you soap" lol :-) You are serious as you even shaved your head and took a shower :-) You are killing me Lyle :-) Great of you to show people how to do it in the oven if they don't have a grill. Looks great for coming out of the oven :-) That gunpowder rub seems interesting :-) Awesome you gave your dog a taste :-) A "BIG" thumbs up Lyle :-) Thank you for the laugh too :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
I acted a fool in this video. I had fun making it. I really like both of those rubs. They both went great with that tri tip.
No Hippie BBQ & Cooking It's all about having fun :-) Have a great weekend Lyle :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!

@@NoHippieBBQCooking Now, now. Dont get uppity just because you have no skills.
@@armyretired8885 who is upset. I'm upset that i don't have room for the thousands of dollars of product companies send me, not a dumb comment from someone that doesn't have a real profile
Yep I'd eat that whole thing with a side salad oh yeah!! My G'Maw said best tools in the kitchen is your hands, she never said nothing about no damn gloves lol
LOL. it has just been something that has come up lately. I'm not giving in
You done shaved yo' head in the middle of a video. lol! That steak looks gooood.
Just saw this after a year. I did get all clean in the middle of the video
Excellent my friend! Thanks for nice sharing. My like # 27 :)
Thanks
As I always say, "Hands are very easy to wash!"
LOL. I had forgot all about me acting a fool in this video
I like your video! And I loved the part about the magic of soap.
I usually dont act that foolish but I must have been feeling a little childish that day
Didn't he say " 225° until internal temp reaches 115°?
The initial cook at 225 is just to bring the meat up to a good temperature before it goes in on broil. Anywhere between 112 to 115 degrees is good. After that the meat would be broiled on both sides until you get to your desired doneness. 120 to 125 for rare. 126 to 129 for medium. 130 to 135 for medium well. 136 to 140+ for well done
No Hippie BBQ & Cooking - Thank you for your reply!
I need to do this video over and maybe be a little more specific.
You touched the dog, now you have to wash your hands..............LOL I love soap too.
I was acting a fool in that video. that was some good tri tip
Did the soap remove his hair?
hahaha the soap part killed me. found this cause im cooking some tri tip tonight for the first time.
LOL. Good luck on your Tri Tip. I just posted a grilled tri tip recipe that turned out really well
Grilled tri tip czcams.com/video/s4M_LDaGEDc/video.html
You didn’t specify how long go to the point
Burnt the hell out of it
Whatever you say. I hardly think so, but thanks
naw dog. it's all the surfaces you touch that you don't wash down with soap people get worried about.
Just because you dont see it being washed doesnt mean it isnt. I'm still alive and kicking
Slow like molasses
It is what it is
If you're not a real cook I doubt you have a meat thermometer like me
NOT - this is a disaster from cooking to cutting - don't do this. Sorry brother. You sear first to lock in juices so it won't dry out. Also, you al\ways cut against the grain, as the shortened fibers will make for a more tender bite. Much more, but there's the basics
