MMR = Measles(rubeola), mumps, Rubella(German measles). I (fully vaccinated) had the milder form (rubella) of measles as a kid, but SINCE I WAS FULLY VACCINATED, I was spared the long-term damage that often follows. The purpose of vaccinations is to teach your immune system to recognize viruses and infections before you're exposed to them so that your body will learn how to fight them.

A few years ago I had the worst case of the flu in my life. I went to the doctors and she asked if I had the vaccine. I said no, but I asked her how my brother got it if he got the vaccine. She told me that there are two different strains of the flu. Flu A, and Flu B. She also said that because how bad the flu problem was that year, it wouldn’t have entirely prevented it but, it would have weakened it. So if I would have gotten it too, it wouldn’t be this bad.

As someone who’s parents are both smokers and I live not to far (in the “danger zone”) of a cement factory, the cigarette one made me physically angry. I don’t breathe properly anymore. I can’t run as far as I used too. Now it could be the lack of physical activity I do, but it’s certainly a factor.

Although having been vaccinated for measels in grade school, it apparently lapsed over time and I got it at age 21. My lungs were affected first, felt like hot coals had been dropped in them. Next, the terrible head and eye pain followed by eventually the rash and two weeks of bad illness that caused me to miss finals, fail two classes, and miss my step father's funeral. Never put a child through this, but also remember to check whether you need to update your vaccines.
That's why they used to have to parties before vaccinations, it is much worse grown up.

I’ve brought up the “they’ve been vaccinated” point as well. Sadly, anti-vax people who have been vaccinated (or whose kids had been vaccinated up until they became anti-van) will attribute anything that can to the fact that they were vaccinated. Arthritis, obesity, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, depression etc. They believe that they developed these things because of vaccinations they got as children. Some people even believe that your genetic lineage can become predisposed to these things for the same reason. Even sadder is that they take comfort in the one thing that “proves them right” instead of the thousands of things that prove them wrong, and they have an answer for every argument you throw at them.

From what I've heard about the "aborted fetal tissue," there were 2 petri dishes of aborted fetal tissues used many decades ago to grow bacteria and viruses. These bacteria and viruses were used to develop vaccines, but modern vaccines are very far removed from these. That's a very dumbed down version of what it is, but that's the gist of what I remember about it.

Me and my brother both got the chicken pox twice. But because we got vaccinated it was extremely mild and we have no scars. I'm so grateful we were vaccinated despite being somewhat immune to the chicken pox vaccine to prevent it being severe
