Stops the main components breaking if given too much power, in this case if a higher amp fuse was installed it would have potentially broken the screen wash pump and not the fuse which would mean replacing a new pump that cost 10-20 times more than a fuse

Thank you, it worked perfectly after changing that fuse, I can fully confirm this is also the same fuse layout for right hand drive polo aw models.
