  • Here’s how to find and replace the broken water pump from a 2017 Volkswagen Golf and others.
If you have a VW and looked under the hood and can’t find the washer pump, yup, this is the video for you.
For our 2017 Golf Sportswagen, we used the following parts:
TAAP Windshield Washer Pump part 5-995
    Tire chock, Car jack
    17mm thin-walled socket. (11/16 will work but it’s a bit sloppy)
    Breaker bar is nice.
    Torx T25 driver Impact driver
    Torque Wrench.
Shallow tub for draining WW fluid.
Flathead screwdriver or supplied lug nut cover tool.

Thank you. Dealer wanted $469. I did it for $32. Hardest part was disconnecting. I’m always afraid I’m going to break a tab and all I can hear in my head is my father saying, “DON’T FORCE IT!”

thanks for the video! i successfully replaced this with an OEM pump that cost me $60. Who knows what a shop (or god forbid) dealer would have charged.

Is your pump still working? I think I bought the same brand pump for my Corsa in August. But it’s leaking on the blue colored part where the tubes are attached. We hadn’t realized it up until we refilled the tank 3x. It still is under warranty of 2-3 years, but we’ve been waiting for 3 weeks now for them to send a replacement.

I am struggling with the 90 connector on the bottom!! I bought a new one but I can’t figure out the trick to setting it on and getting the black clip to properly seal around the connector. It’s the little white guy with the little black clip that goes around it.
Can’t seem to get it to seal the liquid properly it just all keeps running out. I thought I had it at one point but I noticed a slow drip so I bumped it and it start leaking uncontrollably again until the fluid was gone above that point. This is so silly but I need it asap for inspection. Obviously the fluid can’t leak. Help. What was the trick?
