- I had to try one with a vocal track. This solo was an untouchable for me as a kid. It starts here at 1:55
Love this song.
Original song is Quiet by The Smashing Pumpkins off of Siamese Dream and all rights obviously belong to The Smashing Pumpkins. :)

Lyrics:
Quiet, I am sleeping, in here we need a little hope
For years I've been sleeping helpless, couldn't tell a soul
Be ashamed of the mess you've made
My eyes never forget, you see behind me
Silent metal mercies castrate boys to the bone
Jesus, are you listening? Up there to anyone at all
We are the fossils, the relics of our time
We mutilate the meanings, so they're easy to deny
Be ashamed of the mess you've made
My eyes never forget, you see behind me
Quiet, I am sleeping
Quiet, I am sleeping
Quiet, I don't trust you
Shut up, shut up, I can't hear you now
Be ashamed of the mess you've made
My eyes never forget, you see behind me
Behind me, the grace of falling snow
Cover up everything you know
Come save me from the awful sound of nothing - Hudba
Every time I see myself look away from the mic, I think of Chocolate Rain 🤣
Thanks for watching! Subscribe for more! What song is next?
i would love to hear cherub rock!! :)
Unreal - found this channel via your link in the subreddit and have been hooked. Well done emulating Billy’s voice without trying to unnaturally emulating it if that makes sense. Usually people try to copy his nasally-ness and end up sounding like Kermit’s young nephew, whereas you retained your own voice while emulating his inflections and dynamics perfectly
Thank you very much!
Amazing! vocals on all tracks please :)
I think I'm going to have to. Thanks for watching!
Really really good!!!! loved it.
Thank you very much!
Hooooooly moley these are great! Great job with the vocals, and as usual immaculate work with the guitar. These videos have me reexamining these songs in a way I've never done previously.
As my dear friend Bill Bissett would say: XCELENT RAGING 🚀🤘🎸👌
Flawless!!!
Thank you. Very kind 👍
Rock and roll!!!
Hell yeah man, How you don’t have more views is lost on me! Always on point 😎🤙
Thanks man! Always appreciated 👍
Nice work on the vocals! Do you have any original music available?
Dude this is 10/10! what is the vocals chain? sounds so sick
I was gonna ask for your vocal recipe too
Nailed it man! Nicely done.
This is insanely good.
Thank you!
Great cover man! Do you use some sort of octave pedal for the solo or is it more of a synth pedal? I’m trying to get Billy’s live guitar tone, and I can’t figure out what he uses for his solos
I used a harmonizer effect in my DAW. I went over what I did in this video:
czcams.com/video/dp5K8u3EsKA/video.html
In the 90’s Billy used an Eventide H3000 for his leads when playing live. An H9 or H90 can get you 95% of what the H3000 can do for a reasonable price and fits on a pedal board.
@@EddieClark cool stuff man, thanks!!
No problem! 👍
loved it, nicely done
Thank you!
Shit man solid ! Hummer next ! has a lot of great guitar parts as well
Thanks for watching! My first cover on this channel was Hummer. It's in my "Siamese Dream Instrumental" playlist on my channel page.
I will be putting vocals on it soon :D
Nicely done! The rhythm sound was huge and on point! Did you setup the amp with master all the way up and pre-amp volume used as your master?
Thanks!
I did have the master on 10. Here's the video I did on how to get that recorded sound. It goes over all the settings 👍👍
Help me out here. On the vocals, are you doubling/tripling the track and pitch shifting slightly up and delaying to get that effect? I remember hearing the bbc quiet live recording before it was remixed for the siamese dream re-release and his vocals were processed in a similar way. Thought it was a flanger when I was an obsessed teenager, and now that I have a strymon deco I still think it may be, but you clearly know what's up so scratch a decades long mental itch for me. How does that effect work and thanks in advance!
So there's two main vocal tracks; a lead and a double track. The lead is compression and eq. The double has clip distortion, tape delay and a frequency spread (and EQ trick spreading high and low frequencies across the stereo spread).
From there, they go to a bus that has Login Pro's built in reverb, chorus and flanger. They are set extremely low. The chorus has a rate of 1.26hz, 13% intensity and 20% mix level while the flanger rate is set at 0.13 Hz, 6% intensity, 1% feedback and mixed in at 18%.
That's said, I didn't really hunt the Siamese Dream vocal sound. I was trying my best to make my voice work in the context of the song. The on camera vocal track didn't end up even making the cut. If memory serves me correctly, I switched to an an Audio Technical AT2035 which is VERY different than the SM7B that I think was used for Billy's vocals.
Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@EddieClark It does, thanks for your response. There's just something about a small amount of chorus and flange plus double tracking and compression that gives the sounds on that record such a interesting and colorfully processed feel. They actually do a good job recreating something similar live and I've always wondered how. Little tricks I guess!
I cant tell the difference between this and the real thing.
