Wrong Way Feldman was inspired by Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan, a pilot/mechanic who flew a beat-up old plane of his nonstop from New York City to Dublin (he was supposed to land in Long Beach, Ca!). He came home a hero, with ticker tape parades and a starring role in his own film to boot. Funny enough, Corrigan was still alive well into the 1990s, and so he likely saw this episode back in the 60s!
Thank you for posting this comment about the real-life “Wrong Way” Corrigan. Although he continued to claim he flew the wrong way until his death, everyone knows he didn’t. To admit his actual intent, he would face punishment, and prosecution. He wanted to fly across the Atlantic but could not get permission to do so. So, he told everyone he was flying to the west coast. This way, there would be no suspicion as he made preparations for a long flight. After taking off, he simply flew the .....cough......wrong direction, then claimed he must have become turned around in a cloud.
@@DougAlesUSA you'll be happy to know that Corrigan's Curtiss Robin that he used to fly across the Atlantic is now on display at the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, California. His family was looking a place to display it, and they gave it to the museum, along with a bunch of parts for it, from five propellers (including the metal one used on the flight) to the plane's original Curtiss OX-5 V-8 engine (It was built as a OX-5 powered variant, but Corrigan installed a Wright R-540 Whirdwind five cylinder radial on it, increasing the horsepower from the OX-5's 90 to the R-540's 175 hp.)
He also modeled the king and did some additional voice work in Sleeping Beauty but the role of the king was taken by Taylor Holmes for the Final Cut. Conried also did the Grinch in Grinch Night

Fun Fact: Wrong Way Feldman was Played by Hans Conried. The Original Voice Actor for Disney's Captain Hook and Wendy Darling's Father, George Darling.
I can literally see Hook speaking whenever I close my eyes and hear Hans speak
