I feel the birthday thing. When I was 16 it was “gotta celebrate your sweet 16!” from everyone and then the day rolled around and then went on by and nothing happened. When I turned 17, birthday rolled on by without a word. I had to tell my parents I was 17 when we did my State ID so I could get a job… they thought I was still 15. 18th rolled around, we were gonna do a big party and everything, and by that point I wasn’t surprised when plans were cancelled and I had to remind my mum a week later that I was 18.
