What's needed is diversity in refs across the whole footballing profession, now hear me out on this one. The leagues across Europe use refs from their respective countries. If we could have refs from other nations who are the best come over it would help a lot kinda like we do with footballers. Imagine if the leagues only featured players from their own countries. Being a ref is a tough job and requires a skill set many humans don't have. Notice that we have fewer errors in cross contentinatal competitions than in domestic leagues. There's a reason for that.

The question is who should the referees be accountable to? Because, when they make these calculated mistakes, they should not only apologize, but should be charged with a points deductible system that would eventually have them suspended and eventually banned. Teams lose crucial points from these errors that affect the results of the league, therefore a match replay would be the most appropriate solution. This premier league is the most corrupt to the bone, with referees ,var match officials and pundits all involved. There is a lot big bucks going around.

you just answered your own stupid question - the club also needs to be penalized because they released a statement of support for a ridiculous lash out against referees claiming arsenal was cheated (implying the match is fixed and the league is somehow corrupted by the officials). high profile managers like arteta and klopp publicly bashing VAR "ONLY" when it goes against them week in and week out is the reason why the VAR can't be consistent because it encourages everyone in the industry to keep demanding something one week, and something different the week after. the reason why they shouldn't overstep their authority and bash the officials is not simply because officials deserve respect, it's because doing so rids the sport of integrity and trust. Once people lose trust in the rules and the system of the sport then you no longer have a properly functioning professional league.

Players, the on field ref and VAR all acknowledge a clear handball but they cant do anything because he’s not the goalscorer? THATS where the rules need changing and need to be put into question. Gotta get with the times and actually challenge some decisions or else the would never be any change.. and the game clearly needs change from wherever it is now.

    Someone interrupted Martin’s morning yoga…….
As an arsenal fan: should Arteta be charged for comments? Yeah probably.
Was it a goal for Newcastle? Doesn’t matter. The games done. It could have been disallowed three times or it could have been given. Thems are the fine margins in football. Do when need technology to help someone come to a subjective opinion? No. VAR is deskilling the officials to the point at times it’s almost the infield officials and the VAR in direct opposition.
VAR at this point should be limited to goal line technology and off the ball incidents. When it’s delivering at a one hundred percents effective capacity then expand its scope as opposed to throwing a technology shaped rock into the pond and having no idea what directions the waves are going to go. Even if VAR had a defining say: for example the game carries on and VAR spots a foul issues virtually a red or yellow card on behalf of on field official and at the next break in play it’s awarded on field. There are many example of how VAR could be used better instantly but it almost seems that the powers that be have taken the most awkward, difficult ridiculous path each and every time.
Take time wasting and the 100 minute games. That can be ended almost completely almost immediately by simply allowing physios to come on (as in rugby) when a player goes down. When there’s no advantage to lying down on the grass and rolling down one’s sock for no reason and in fact becomes a serious disadvantage the players will stop. BUT instead of stopping time wasting we will just allow the time wasting to carry on and add more time on which the winning side tjme wastes anyway!!!!

Keown is 100% correct on the foul. It was blatant. The idea it was a subjective is a nonsense excuse. No reason for defender to go down if he isnt pushed. Keown also right about using better technology. Both the potential offside and the ball in/out of play should be possible to identify. Makes no sense that they did not draw lines as they are happy to use that for offside calls like they did for the disallowed Arsenal goal vs Brentford. I think it was actually in play though but it should have been possible to confirm.

what I don't get is why arsenal fans are fixate on that decision which is a tough subject one and not on the Bruno g. one? that 1 is a clear red card and I still don't understand to this day how it wasn't
