Ten Haag should've been honest to Ronaldo directly and said you're not in my plans instead he aligned with the execs on the matter and even worse played the media game of acting like a benevolent force.
When Arteta came to Arsenal he tried with Ozil but he couldn't get the best out of him with the squad he had. He personally rated Ozil highly but was honest to the player and the board about not having him in his plans. Ozil never had an issue with Arteta but the board who basically wasted his time signing him and not bolstering the squad whilst he was there.
Countless times when the media narrative and fans were deriding Ozil for not running enough (even though data shows he had the highest average distance covered) Arteta always defended his professionalism.
Same with Auba it was clear that he couldn't fit into the system or style of play and instead of mucking him about was firm with the board about letting him go in January.
In both occasions those decisions cost Arsenal millions but they did it because Arteta was firm on those points. Ten Haag should've been firm on his Ronaldo stance to the board in the summer instead of being fake and duplicitous.

There is a reason Ronaldo made nebulous claims and did not name "names", the defamation cases would have begun instantly. They still might if Ronaldo isn't careful.
