Liverpool had money pumped in through the likes of Littlewoods pools etc. United had a great influx of talent from the academy which we all know but kept this going by paying triple what other clubs were paying for players in relative positions at that period of time in a bid to keep this success going and now have the highest paid and most expensive team in the prem but are struggling to get a European spot. It takes YEARS to be really well established, i don't think city will get to that level. Look at the players that have played for city and then look at the players have played for madrid. If the city owners didn't pump money into the club, do you think pep would be there? Just imagine if they pumped money into an aston villa or leeds. Where would city be?
