Been a United fan since the late 70's. Not been to a game or spent a penny on the club since the Glazers took over. That's a real protest. đ°

He chose against claiming a part of his investment in the club, letting it go into administration so he didn't go bankrupt. The club is back today because administration is meant to find a new buyer at a subsidised value.
If he did the opposite, the club would thrive but he'd be done. Am I to assume you'd take the same decision if faced with the same dilemma?
There's a reason football clubs aren't profitable and those who want to keep them profitable are the ones fans cry and moan about because they justifiably are poor owners who aren't pumping money.

The poor management of the club is a valid reason for the protests. Protesting because your club was bought with debt is just an idiotic temper tantrum that isn't not expected from people living in the real world, where business have such guidelines for a reason.
You spoke of Simon's credentials and decision-making to send Crystal Palace into administration. That's what I was responding to.
Don't tell me that taking dividends out of a club prevent the club from competing. Dividends are a mere small percentage of the total profits made in a year. The problem with the Glazers is how they run a club, and I see nothing in your argument that refutes a perfectly logical point Simon made about what the purpose of the protest is.
If you want to talk about United then you also need to understand that businesses aren't charity. The community angle to football is what allows fan such right to protest and they're absolutely right to. Anywhere else though, and this argument about taking money from the club is foolhardy and myopic.
You don't buy businesses to keep pumping your own money into it. You do it to keep the cash flow going and make profits from it. Even if you go the other way with value appreciation over the years, United's problem isn't that they take money out. It's that taking money out is just indicative of the kind of owners the Glazers are.
Again. Protests are meaningless without a purpose and a way to arrive at a solution. Unless someone buys the club, the protests will go on even if United dominate like they did before. Again, that shows a clear lack of real world understanding of business and economics.

Anyone at the stadium protesting was wearing a 50 quid top, paid 50 quid to get into the stadium and probably purchase a pint and chips for 10 pounds. The Glazers have made sure they're always paid well I'm sure, but they've not skimped on the playing squad have they?
Their main error for me is keeping an archaic management structure, jobs for mates attitude in place.

They've stood still while the rest moved forward.
They replaced C. Ronaldo & Tevez with Valencia & Owen. Sir Alex's side was made up of ageing legends and under par academy players. Once he left they renegotiated the interest on the bank loan so have been able to spend big but spent badly.

I'm a United fan and honest, watching a few hundred people come into a game late or leave early in a stadium that consistently fills most of its 75,000 seats is pointless. The stadium still looks full. Even a couple of thousand would barely register on camera. If the entire Stretford End stood up and walked out, that would be something but the people organising these protests seem to just talk amongst themselves and then expect everyone else to follow. It's very disorganised.
Plus, last season the fans managed to get the biggest game in English football called off. That's about as big a protest as you can get. People can argue about the merits of breaking the law by getting into Old Trafford and on to the pitch but there's no arguing the fact that it made world wide headlines. In comparison, staging a walkout where only a few people take part is tame.

Basically a fans job is to bend over and take it quietly from whoever happens to own their club and how dare they ever think about kicking off
Newcastle fans protested for years, boycotted the club merchandise and towards the end of Ashley's reign 10's of thousands of fans walked away and he had to start handing away free tickets and the ground couldn't sell out anymore.
Nobody other than Ashley will really know if the pressure told in the end but I personally think Ashley saw the writing on the wall and sold up while he could. Had we listened to the head of the owners union Simon Jordan then he could still be here

There's no arguing the money spent on some bad recruitment over the last 10 years but none of that billion has come out of the pockets of the Glazers. Its come out of money generated by the club, or money soon to be generated by the club.
Simon we protested before and after they bought the club, we protested in 2010 after we've had won a double in 2009/2010. They've never spent their money on the club, but the club profits we used, the structure of the club, the wage bill for under performing players, the position in the club, it's all down to their mismanagement and ownership of the club. The training ground, the stadium, we still owe about ÂŁ600m in debt, ÂŁ200m+ in transfer debt.
Answer me this honestly Gee, if they brought in Klopp or Pep, with these same players, do you think your team would improve, and do you think any of the players would get away with recent performances?

I will give them some credit in that Murtough, Fletcher and Rangnick seems to be a somewhat competent recruitment team now but it only took them 7 years to make a change

Fans are only happy when their club is winning cups, but not every club can win, in fact v few do. So based on this no lose scenario, fans love to take the morale high ground and protest like these man u fans - when in reality they have zero at stake (financially or otherwise). If they are real fans they will cont to attend & support their club winning or losing - if not then go follow another sport. At the elite level this is professional sport involving millions & millions, nothing to do with sentiment.

Simon is right when it all comes down to it.
Itâs a public enterprise. The company will work differently than venture capital stage private equity structured clubs such as Chelsea and Man City. The dividend distribution is in-line with the industry average and the Glazers have paid in additional capital of more than 80 million per annum since June 2013.
To the point of club management. The club has appointed a variety of top class managers & bought many quality players. Theyâve gone commercial and also non-commercial.
For some reason they havenât been better than other big teams. But guess what, thatâs life - sometimes you donât get out what you put in.

Lining up Smalling and Jones to replace Rio and Vidic. from 2005-2014 they never allowed United to spend any serious money on rebuilding the team and have been playing catch up ever since.
United since then have been allowed to spend 1 Bil of their own money but the difference was the fundamentals of the squad had never been never there. They only allowed United to spend the minimum amount required to keep United relevant during this time-proven by the fact they spent more money when United were out of the UCL rather than in it. Of course, they could have spent the money better but this responsibility also falls on the Glazers in appointing people at the club there to protect them rather than to build a coherent football team.
That said I do finally think United are starting to change their structure and put things in a better direction. These things will take time, however, the proof will be in the pudding this summer with how much of their own money the Glazers allow United to invest in rebuilding the squad.

Nobody ever speaks about Liverpool fans getting rid of Hicks and Gillet when speaking about their resurgence back to the top. I guess it doesn't suit the money men like Jordan and their agenda.

Liverpool was on the verge of annihilation whilst United are 'having a bad spell'. The main reason why Hicks and Gillet got turfed out: they were unable to pay back loans and used the club as a guarantor against this debt - risking people's livelihoods and presenting a legal case to dissolve their ownership. The valuation of the club was ÂŁ300m which was saddled with debt. United are worth billions and has nowhere the levels of debt Liverpool had.
