lol didn’t expect to be talking about this topic clicking on this. i feel like i need therapy after realising about 5 years ago, more people than i thought would want to look at liveleak when they were younger. maybe this is stupid lol, but it genuinely made me feel defeated about humanity, i cannot relate at all. i understand now though that if they were kids, they probably got exposed accidentally and kept looking. but you can undo the desensitisation, although it would most likely need therapy. i just know that actively seeking out content for less fortunate people’s deaths is not good for society, and the demographic of folk who did that are usually men.
there is no rational argument that hosting extremely violent videos uncensored is better for society than banning them/censoring them. repeated exposure shows how people become traumatised, or even desensitised that leads to an increased lack of sympathy which is not helpful for society or their relationships with people. those sites can of course lead to people wanting to do it themselves, which is also happening. there needs to be way harsher laws against viewing them repeatedly on these sites/hosting them… but more than that, something deep within people’s increasing lack of morality needs to be changed for the better.
there’s probably a reason why people who are more marginalised don’t seek out extreme torture/gore for entertainment nearly as much. sure there are street fights which are bad, but they usually are not on a level near what extreme gore sites are. we have access to it, but curiosity is killed usually after the first time. idk the solution, but it’s unnerving to think about future kids/people being exposed to that and then becoming desensitised.
some people who watch that try to justify that it’s a natural urge, which is pure shite. if that was the case, the majority of humanity would actively be watching it all the time. but it’s not normal, humans aren’t usually equipped to deal with that much exposure to such violence. i’m not saying we’re not able to be violent when necessary, of course we are. but there will never be a gene found for any kind of “human nature” for enjoying violence or seeking out violence, as it doesn’t exist and is unscientific. humans are a product of their environment, and non violent societies/time periods always result in more progress and less suffering… these sites need to be censored as much as possible

You know what I've noticed about our generation. We use humor to cope with some pretty dark shit, which I guess is okay but we never address it. Like we just dismiss it which I feel is not okay, like I have seen so many tik toks about some effed up shit and it's always someone smiling and lip-synching to some cheerful song. I agree with you! There’s nothing inherently wrong about using humor to cope, but at one point it becomes another way to avoid the painful stuff in our lives. The problem is avoiding the painful stuff doesn’t make it all go away. It’s still there
