Trøllabundin means spellbound. In the viking age, 'Galder' was a kind of magic song that was used in seiðr (magic/witchcraft) practiced by mainly women, and to 'galdra' was to affect something by magic singing.

This song makes me feel homesick and nostalgic for a place I've never been to.
I hate when that happens to me. I'm always trying to find where that place may be. I know it's out there, but where?
I feel the same! Though I live in the US, it makes me feel very good knowing that my lineage is Nordic. So many groups that come out of those places make me proud that these are the people I come from. The culture is so astoundingly rich with beautiful music, that in my heart, I am right alongside my people, right where they were thousands of years ago. 😊

I am Italian, so very far, culturally, from her world...but every time I hear that throat singing/whispers, I feel something ancient calling me and telling me to go "lose myself to find myself" in the woods.
And I did...several times... there's probably hundreds of "ME" that got lost among those trees that I left behind, and thousands are still waiting there for me to find them.

I went to 2 of her concerts in Vienna years ago, afterwards I went to get her new album and take a photo with her. She said to me: "I love your outfit!" and I replied with "Thanks, I love you!" I still stand by that.

Eivor Palsdottir is from the Faroe islands (off the Scandinavian coast) and sings in her beautiful, haunting Faroese language often......there are many live concert performances of this, all good.....she often sings with Einar Selvik of Wardruna....their duet of 'Helvegen' with full orcheastra and choir is moving.......
Are there any videos of it? I'm looking around and not finding anything but that sounds amazing. I know there is one like that with Aurora though and it's beautiful. Edit: I may have found it! Sweden 2018?

Easily the best musical performance I've seen in 2023. I feel bad for those that skip it because they don't understand the title.

You don't have to understand the title. If you have some culture and seeing this "Danish National Symphony Orchestra" is enough to click on the video. It is natural selection. People with culture and people who are eager to discover will click, the rest will remain at cardi b.
Occasionally you come across something so epic down the CZcams rabbit hole that blows your mind away. This gave me the goosebumps! It was so refreshing to be lost in such a soundscape and hear the human vocal cords producing unfamiliar sounds. Wow, she has such an amazing voice!

The voice of a Valkyrie, and the magical music, I got goosebumps. Epic, majestical.
Eivør has the magic voice, which was sung as galdralag and was indeed used as both birth and funeral song for great warriors, and also to inflict madness and blight on the enemy. The Valkyr were powerful and fearsome sorceresses- while seidr was trivial to them, they spoke in galdr and could twist reality itself with their words. This is ancient magic.

Eivor is magical. I thought her live version in a Norwegian fjord was the best ever, because of the echoes. Now I doubt. This Danisch orchestra adds more otherworld magic to it. Wonderful!

I love Eivor, there is just something so ... primal about this type of music. Deeper than anything, it just touches something raw and ancient.
Thank you so much for this great Christmas present! This version of Trollabundin is simply epic! I have been listening to Eivor for so many years now. To see her perform together with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is just a joy for my heart.

This is hands down the best live version I’ve seen. It haunts me, gets stuck in my mind and eyes. The throat singing the first time I watched / heard this I dropped everything I was holding. Music is universal; don’t fly by something you can’t read you miss treasures like this.
Thank you for uploading this. I live in the United States, so we are seeing this on Christmas day. I can think of fewer gifts I can receive on this day that are as enjoyable as the gift of Eivor's otherworldly voice. Merry Christmas to you.

I have been listening to Eivør's and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra's music for a while now and I must say this is one of the most captivating and awe-inspiring collaborations I have ever heard. The sound of the drum echoing in your chest, beat after beat is just on another level. I applaud everyone involved with this performance, it was absolute perfection.

This has been one of my favorite songs ever since I first heard it almost ten years ago. I'm so happy to see that it's still being performed; it's one of those songs that continues to evolve over time, and Eivør continues to breathe new magic into every performance.

I still remember the first time I watched her. It was her appearance with Trøllabundin on this small stage upon the mountain (10.08.2013). Already back then I was immediately mesmerised.
But this version... I'm deeply touched to the core of my soul and also refueled with energy. An ancient being in me begins to stretch.

I just saw her live at the iconic Red Rocks in Colorado, USA. She is truly something else. I can't even describe how utterly enchanting her voice is to hear in person. I wanted to close my eyes and get pulled into the trance, but I couldn't stop looking at her!
