You have to love the internet. This gig had 40 people, 2 sheep, and a small gathering of seagulls (lucky things!). Now it's been seen over 9 million times! Granted, 2 million of those are probably by me, but it's still an incredible thing.

I am Bavarian German. I know Germany is not part of Scandinavia…and on top of that Bavaria is south-east in Germany amongst the Alps - so even further from the north… but I know we are all Germanic, and we flourished in tribes. This music makes me feel a certain way. That is for sure. I love how it makes you feel cold but in a good way, like the cold north is part of Scandinavian culture, and how the high, snowy mountains of the alps are a part of ours. This doesn’t just feel mystical, I’m not a foreigner, it’s definitely actually home.

I am Norwegian and I could not be prouder of my culture. All of the Nordic peoples are passionate. The music is a large part of our culture. It is the spirit of the Earth speaking through her children. This music is spiritually awakening and awe inspiring. The lands are beautiful and the history is ancient, deep, and rooted. Truly strong and powerful blood flowing through me I will say this though; I know that people today tend to pride themselves in whose problems are bigger- but what connects us as human beings, is that in our suffering- we are fundamentally the same- we all feel hurt, we all struggle at some point. So I realize that what I struggle with, what you struggle with isn't cause for pity but empowerment- when we harness that same fundamental aspect of humanity within ourselves we can unlock our true potential- at the end of the day we are all equals

Its the notion that culture and tradition is this non-binary thing that can be moulded, absorbed and adopted by anything and anyone. Which is the very antithesis of culture and tradition. An African calling himself a Viking is cultural appropriation, to use a favourite term of the left. But of course, cultural appropriation is fine if it's to push the their abhorrent agenda.

Greetings from Ukraine! This kind of music helps through the toughest times. I had a short touch of Germanic linguistics before the course of History of English at the local Uni. In Ukrainian, we have the word "бинда (bynda)" - a colourful tape that is typically woven in hair, which came from the German "das Band" through Polish. Even here, the "Trøllabundin" has it. The word "troll" I got to know from the Swedish song "Herr Mannelig", oh I love these little connections, they retain some magic from the long-gone days.
