    I said it before and I'll repeat again, I wish I'd found your channel when u started it or whenever. I'm watching this vid and if I'd watched it and probably half your vids it might've saved me some time and frustration. My Novas looking like a gasser currently 🥴🤡

    You can replace the leaf springs with composite springs and safe 2/3rds of the weight.

    Lookin' good! I recently ordered shocks and sent them back after finding out the 74 multi-leaf needed more travel. I'll be running Monroe 5820s for now as they extend to about 24". At least until I can find the comparable QA1 shock. Giving me something to focus on during this whole quarantine business. Keep up the good work!

    I went out and measured mine right after watching your video. I got 24.5" as well. I think I'm going to use the factory Nova front brackets as well if it'll get me 23.75"

      It was the 2” drop but only drops 1.5” with the nova spring perches

    Johnny! would you recommend 2 inch drop spindles in the front? or springs? I have a 77 Rally. Thanks Sir

      Drop spindles are probably a better option. It doesn’t change the suspension geometry like lowering springs do.

    If you are looking to make it handle better, sway bars and tires, I put a sway bar from the rear on the rear of my 64 studebaker, it was very easy to fab brackets for it, I have a g-body front clip with a monte carlo ss front seat bar it's much bigger than other g-bodies, it handled extremely well

      @@Shop209 I wish I could upload some pictures, I actually started with a 79 malibu for my hot rod/ cruiser and then went looking for a nova but could only find junk for gold price, that's how I ended up with my stude daytona, 400 hp sbc, 700r4 373 @ under 3000 lbs

      That is plasti dip. Frozen blue. It was on the car for about 6 months

    Cool video John. I’m not into the ass draggin look but there’s a lot of cars and owners that like that. I had a vision for my Nova of more old school when I was in high school. I have 12’s with 50’s on the back. BB coils and 60’s on the front. If u had an email listed I’d send U a pic of it. More of a street freak / matchbox muscle car look. Take care

    Great video. Lots of good info!! Looking to install this kit on my 72 nova and it's been a struggle deciding on the 1.5" vs 3" kit. I'm running 245x40x18 and would be happy with 23 3/4". Any changes in pinion angle after the install?

      It does change pinion angle. Depends on where you started. It reduced mine about 2°

      Hey. Thanks for watching. I used the black pearl rustoleum rock solid. It takes way more than advertised to coat it.

    Love your videos. I have some crappy Summit Racing leaf springs that went flat on me, sitting at 23" on 255/45/17 and that's including a longer shackle to get me an extra .5" . What tire combo are you running so I can project what my ride height will be with the Hotchkis -1.5" kit. Thanks

      I’m running 15X8 Weld wheels with MT 255/60/15 tires.

      No. The wheels are 15X8 with 5” back spacing. 255/60/15

      On that car I have 15X8 on rear with 5” back spacing and 15X6 on front. Not sure of backspacing on front.

      I recommend the Hotchkis springs. I have a set on my 73 and I’m very happy with them.

    How does the car ride after the spring upgrade? Any wheel hop? Thanks!

      Honestly it rides about the same. I’ve done several good burnouts and haven’t experienced wheel hop. Maybe on a drag strip it would but not so far on street.

      Shop209 Thanks for the reply! I just installed this kit on my 71 Nova and haven’t had a chance to drive it. I went with the Camaro perches for the front to get the car as low as possible and I was kinda worried it would be a rough ride. The old mono leafs that I pulled off had a serious wheel hop issue so that’s good to hear it’s eliminated with the kit.
