    That 73 ss brings back some memories. A 73 ss was my first car. My Father and I rebuilt the engine,did all the body work,fixed the interior and had it painted Mediterranean metallic blue. I would love to have another one or a nova without that horrendous front bumper.

    Years ago I had a '70 multi leaf car with a '66 L79 twelve bolt in place with no mods other than moving the air shocks to the inside to clear eleven inch tires on ten wide wheels , American 200S. 41/4 backspace. The axles in the early rear end are 15/16 inch shorter per side than '68 and newer .

    Great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have loved Novas since I was in high school in the 1980s. I bought a 1971 close to 20 years ago. I enjoy it except I made the mistake of buying a Yenko clone and get asked about it every place I go. I'm going to redo the car when my kids are done with college. Don't tell my wife!

    I would like to add (FYI), if you want to put a 9" dif. in your 68-74 Nova, use one from a 68' Mercury Cougar, it bolts in place on the spring perch dowels, use traction bars and new u-bolts, the NOva e brake cable fits the 9" backing plate and brake hardware, the brake line (diff ti chassis) should fit also, the only thing that has to change is the u-joint (dont remember the number) to connect the Nova driveshaft to the 9", the shaft will be the correct length. The overall diff. width (drum face to drum face) is within 1/8-1/4", also for rims, redril the 9" axles for the GM bolt pattern, or use the FOrd bolt pattern and rims.

    • @Shop209
      @Shop209  Před 3 lety

      If you do that you’re gonna have to try to put a rubber coupling on the filler neck and angle it up to the rear panel. The other options are to find a donor car that you can cut trunk out of or to buy some tank mounting flanges and fab a floor then put the flanges on.

    I fucking love the 73 Chevrolet Nova. I’m 17 and I’ve grown up around my grandpas 73 which he’s had since new, sadly it’s the economy version with the inline 6 but it being the 250 inline 6 doesn’t make me love it any less. It was restored around 15-20 years ago and is rusting away sadly. Anybody have any idea what I could buy it for? He’s asked 5 grand but has offered it up to my dad for 2 grand, is 2 grand a good price?

    • @jazzycup9274
      @jazzycup9274 Před 3 lety +1

      Go for it if it's not a clunker and restore it, hit up the inliners forum, HAMB, stovebolt, Steveschevynova, hell talk to Tom at 12bolt.com, and/or pick up the inline 6 power manual by Leo Santucci. Nothing wrong with the inlines and you can beat on them all day, it might make you a little weird at the car shows but folks like weird.

    I don't have a sleeved wire anywhere from the harness to the the starter but do have two black and tan wires (may have been pink originally but grime...) spliced from the middle of the harness to the coil... Any tips?

    I’m sure you stay busy but if you had a little time could you help me source the rear end for my Nova? I don’t want to make an expensive mistake…
