This is where CZcams needs a "Love it" tick box rather than like it.
High dollar builds are neat and all, but it is far cooler to see great performance done on a budget. Kudos for this build :)
So thats not just me then lol. Maybe a brokes mind set but for me this is way more impressive
It's not really on a budget he just had all the spare parts and friends to build it for em
@@shaunbutler6876 every part was paid for and accounted for. Just because it was owned for years doesn't mean it wasn't paid for. Our friends assembled parts that were paid for and paid for their services.
My man this is a high dollar build! This isn’t a 5k all in build running 8’s
@@davidwlee0351 can you run 8’s on 5k?
I have another motto for you, rust is lighter than carbon fibre.
Love the build
In the words of Uncle Tony, nothing is lighter than a hole.
Awesome car! Budget building is an art form in itself. Anyone can run 8s with a fat wallet. Doing it on nickels and dimes is incredible.
Puts the fun in the art. I’m tryna budget turbo a 66 mustang but those turbo headers are a g by themselves 💳💔
@@TasteMyPP spend the thousand dollars on tig classes. And Make your own exhaust for pennies on the dollar. Invest in yourself and your skills will make you money.
So true.
@@TasteMyPP I tried to reply about Penntech header fab blocks and header and pipe 3d software. I think it deleted it because of links maybe? Either way, check those out. Even if you can't weld, you can make complete custom Lego headers and take them to a welder. With the 49 dollar software, you can cut all your pipe as well. Saving a ton for the fab because fabs finished, only need someone to tig the prefab.
This comment nailed it.
I'm old enough to remember when funny cars ran in the eights
Love the Handel
Key to the video for me,,,, MOVE THE MOTOR BACK! a great investment of labor most people are not willing to make.
Great job !
8.60s @ 160+ is no joke. Congrats
Wow, this was a really professional video. We can see perfectly what you are showing, and understanding what you are explaining. In 2013 our mustang blew up a coolant hose at the Grassroots Motorsports challenge at Gainesville. Your dad was the top dog on the quarter mile, but he took the time to help a rookie. I was not the only one you guys helped as he shared his knowledge to a mostly autocross audience. Your family is a great example of teamwork and devotion to the sport, where a well seasoned team, helps every body in the paddock. Wish you all health so you can continue to do your good job.
Thanks!!
@@Calvin-Nelsoni like the video i have a question when will you be working on another engine build hi 👋 from # YSW 🇨🇦 respect back to you for an excellent job on the video 📹 😊😊😊😊😊
@@domenicomonteleone3055 Yes. We have many engine builds in the future.
@@Calvin-Nelson excellent information in the future 👏 👌 👍 😀.
Wow 8s is a major feat no matter what the build is.
160...pretty impressive man. Car looks like it leaves real well!
I absolutely love this, love the green and black, thats its kinda rough but still an absolute monster.
Found it!! A car channel about cars! Not a boring vlog about some dude that throws tons of money around and shows nothing but his face on camera
I have seen this video about 10 time this is the inspiration for my car
Glad you are enjoying it so much. Good luck with your project!
Just fucking brilliant. I love this man's mind. I tell people this about making just enough torque to get you going and they look at me like I'm crazy smh.
Destroking for "No Prep" is genius. Couple of smart guys here!
Save weight and save parts, i like the make it strong where it counts and let the flaws shine. None of mine are near show cars but im never worried about a scratch or dent on them either, love the Studebaker build man always love the classic iron
I'm 31 and have never drag raced before. I have a 5.3 L33 that ill be budget building for either an n/a street car or s10, or build it up with a turbo or 2 for a full on drag car. I absolutely LOVE doing things on a budget! Thanks for all the awesome content!
Also man love your down home build style what u have use it attitude 😉 😎 cool as heck and no cussing and acting a fool on videos like a lot of channels do thanks for t h e content and integrity 😀
Thanks. It's a budget, family oriented approach. Wouldn't have it anyway else.
Third car I ever built was similar to this and made 850 on the dyno with a 6 liter Lq4 engine we added a cam trunion upgrade oil pump and a forced inductions 7675 with the precision injectors had a blast out of that car anything over a thousand your maintenance goes up big time that’s real talk nice build guys.
Thanks for the info, what a great dad you got
This is my first time seeing your channel but I love how straight forward it is
I agree
This was a GREAT video, and you are a GREAT teacher. A born GURU. 👍👍👍
1973 Nova project owner here! The car looks killer, and definitely looks good with the tucked rear bumper. Since my car will be a street car, Ill need to figure out how to tuck and use the factory fuel fill port.
Definitely an inspiration!
I would love a parts list of everything to do with the engine/drivetrain, would be awesome to recreate, please and thank you!! Love the car and the channel
Thank you for your advice, and your time. And again, love your builds.
I think this is my favorite build! Great job!
Well young feller y'all got ya all a fine runner. Love the Olive Drab paint too.
Thanks!
Excellent approach to the build and a really great video - love the car and appreciate you sharing !
Nova is the compact Chevelle and admire your frugality recipe. Destroking sounds like my cup a tea. Cam it and get in the meat at high rpms that makes your gearing longer increasing ET, 3:15 rear is also the secret sauce. Big props to pops. Love it and its one off fabrications!
Your style of car and build are my favorites because you encourage the working class racer love every aspect of this congratulations on your accomplishments
That’s the best looking and fastest $50 car I’ve ever seen!
Love all your builds but this one is special! 8 sec quarter times are nothing to overlook! Good job as usual to you & your pops man!
Give Mahle a ring or e mail. They had some really great catalogs for their pistons. You know they weighed within 5 gms of the 4.8 piston but they are fit for a 6.0 bore. I'm betting there won't be more than one or two likely candidates. That is a nice piece of "racer knowledge"! FR
Yeah. I had the part number written down and saved somewhere. Got lost between new phones or something. Good idea
I love Chevy Nova's also. 1970 i was born and so was the Nove i Love..
Love all your videos keep them coming
This is one of the most BEAUTIFUL Novas ive ever seen!! And especially i mean externally beautiful! Perfect! The stance, paint, colours, rims, tyres, front & rear ect ect. With all its blemishes and corroded sheet... Looks awesome. And not to mention the engine and drivetrain, sound and everything else! This is 5/5 love it, good job and keep going the 7s will come eventually
Thanks. Glad someone sees it like we do.
it idles like the EGR is stuck on!! I like you and your father's way of thinking. smart.
Thanks. It has a pretty radical "NA" cam.
Great video, straight to the point. Nothing wrong with being frugal with your money. Also your right about keeping light. Weight to horsepower ratio & traction is everything in drag racing.
Very nicely done! Amazing the power that car has love it!!
Amazing a i want retore a 72 Nova for my dad as well , my uncles and my dad had Novas .
Such a badass car!!! Total nova dude! Orb into it!! Keep it up big fan of y’all’s!!
Great video! This should be a tutorial for those who are building within a budget and those who make car overviews. Thank you for this video - you have a new subscriber
Holy Smokes! That thing is a white knuckle rocket at the end! Love it!
Great build. I need to go to your flea markets!
Fantastic "Tour" LOL Super interesting and educational. Obvious you guys know what's what. Thanks much!
MAN THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WATCHING YOU WOW GREAT VIDEO, THANKS
Love this car! Always loved those novas
This is awesome!!!! Love the car and thank you for sharing. I am doing a 72 nova with a bunch of the same type SBE stuff. Great work!! Get that 7
Very nicely engineered!
That's really neat how you guys built that. Interesting what you said about the cam choice, I found with my project that a narrow lsa oval track cam works good in a sbc with a big turbine and free flowing ex
Didn’t even mean to click on this video but man I’m sure glad I did that thing is awesome!
This is what living is all about....
You guys rock....
Badd ass stuff as always thanks look forward to more content like this 🙌
I never was a generic motors fan but i did like the way novas looked
To each their own. I just can't justify spending double or triple for something that is marginally better (and sometimes much worse). Only thing that has tempted me are the 2jz's.
Would really like to hear your experiences in tuning / setting up the suspension. Building power is one thing - making it actually work is another.
Check out some of the other Nova videos. Getting them to work in the 60' is our calling card.
Came here for this as well!
Love the car great content
I really, really like this car!
Built for go, not to show. Like the paint gives it a kinda military look, wich is appropriate for a track weapon 🔫.
Still a show car
Definitely isn’t for a go Keep your crappy LS in the chevys
Old School #1. "Rule," for Performance vehicles--Function, before Beauty. CHECK... LOL
Nice work nivlac.
Great job young man 💯💯💯💯
Good to see someone else running a destroked 6.0
Great video
Well done guys!!!!
"... the sheet metal is there to hold stickers." Love it! XD I also love how this car could humble all of the Tesla S Plaid's I've been seeing videos of that are running low 9's. More fun to see experience, passion, and a barn full of old parts beat out some rich guy's $150k toy.
Love this car. Subbed.
Thank you.
I like & I subscribed! Thumbs up! 👍
FANTASTIC. THANKS
Did not see that turbo ls coming, lol shocking ! But you cant argue with badass. very cool
awesome car love it.
This is why most guys just love project cars they are fun to work on, more affordable than a brand new electric car and you can actually work on them lol. Keep up the good work guys love it!
Nice Build Love to hear RPM ,s Fast👍
Turbo's like oversquare more than NA's do!!! COOL!
LOL I have had 10 back in the day! My first was a 73 SS 307 dog! But it was fun to drive! Then it had a 400 4 speed then a 350-350 Auto!
I like that nova🔥🔥
Too funny. I have nearly the exact same set up in a 1964 AMC Rambler. Wanted to kill bottom end torque due to the smallish 275 tire. 4.8 crank, gen 4 rods, 6.0 block, square port heads, Wiesco flat top piston's for a stock stroke 6.0 are a drop in minus the balance needed., mild camshaft, single 80mm turbo though. Holley Terminator X Max, 4L80e, Ford 8.8 with 3.73 (probable a little steep), Hoping for 800whp. Yet to fire it. Getting close though. Car should come in at 2800lbs. Looking for 9's in a street car for the power tour.
It's fun to learn about other people's projects and what makes them tick. I just gotta say, though, an 8.62 isn't teasing 7s... though I am sure with some tweaking you can make 7s happen.
It was spinning a bunch on that 8.62 pass and we had 300 hp available to add on top. Thanks
this is not 'Street Legal'!!......& I'm OK WITH THAT!! Great 'JOB'! Keep Them 'LIGHT'...That's The 'KEY'!! cheers From Canada!
That is a sweet well built race car you guys built. Love it. I’m also building a destoked 6.0. 4.8 crank and rods. Cheap pistons .4.040” but one thing I will have to highly dis Agree on. Cathedral port heads when ported correctly can make way more power than a Ls3 style head. I’ve dyno’d 100’s if set ups. And a proper cathedral port head makes power across the whole lower range that the rectangle port heads just can’t do. Yes they can flow awesome at wide open top of the rpm curve. But can’t touch a 862 with good work done to it. But agin. Love the car. Sick.
Very interesting. I'm surprised to hear you start with 862 heads. Is that done because of the small combustion chamber?
Guess he's busy on the Dyno Cal?!
Yes. Start with a small chamber Unshroud the intake valve so it makes the chamber a few cc bigger then deck .020 off to bring it back down and a good port job. I can make more power threw the curve than a LS3 head. They might get a few more HP up top. But can’t touch it threw the curve. And sadly no. I no longer build race cars for work. Thanks for reminding me there tough guy.
Ebay build woo love it guys
Don't judge?
I WILL judge.
I LOVE IT.
Simple recipe. I was shocked about the stock 4.8 rods thats nuts lol
Gen 4 Stock Rods are very strong, the pistons are another story.
A few years back, some young guy had a 1982 S-10, turboed, 5.7 LS--stock bottom end--ran 8's, all day long. He said if it lunched the motor, he'd just pull it, and put another stock bottom end mill in it. HE later decided to try for 7's, and was going to step up to a 6.0 LS to do it. Makes sense... lol
I'm hoping to see u guys at beaver next season, my car will be ready, I have the white foxbody with black racing stripes
Very cool....................... 👍👍👍👍
I love this
Nice
I can’t find anything less than thousands man. If only I could find a roller to get things started, hey if your dad still has a nova he’d let go let me know
We purchased this long before COVID. Prices on everything have gone nuts.
Nice car
i love this car
Thanks bud. It is a blast to run.
Nice!
ahhh i want a nova so badly. gonna import one to the uk eventually
Subbed!
If only you guy where closer... I'm from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 not much ls action here I'm hoping to make an impact
Beast
Damn this thing is fn cool.
Yeah people neglect everything but the trans you have to have a good converter and trans and rear end etc.
Cool, fun and interesting build! Only thing I felt missing is the actual weight of the car, especially since you pointed out the big efforts to cut weight everywhere (which is smart!)...
Thanks. It's right around 2600 with driver.
2790#
The hole in the shirt made me LOL. 😁
All my other shirts were dirty. Lol
Speed holes!
I understand Holley efi if you can afford it. However, $1100 for the Holley vs $250 for the microsquirt makes it fairly enticing. I am quite profiecient when it comes to mechanics in general, and again with electronics and wiring. If you HAVE heard of people getting it to work, I would bet that i could. Where as i agree holley is hands down the way to go if you can, I have much more time and ingenuity than i will ever have money. And thank you for replies and opinions, i value them much more than just about any other builder i have seen.
We have gotten Microsquirt to work on quite a few cars and been very successful with them. They just take way more time to get to work. Also not having an idle valve is a real pain. When running really large injectors they can be super hard to work with. I definitely can sympathize with your situation.
nice
So what engine size does that combo give you? And what is the front and rear weight percentage? Love your channel.
Nice😜!
