  • Today we test our Twin Turbo destroked 6.0 L LS 1974 Chevrolet Nova at Beaver Springs Dragway and goes 8's in the 1/4 mile! We made several passes and adjusted the tune, two step rev limiter, boost levels, in our Megasquirt Goldbox ECU. The car pulled several wheelies throughout the day which was fun to watch, but we dealt with traction issues off the starting line a little bit.
    Engine displacement is 328 cubic inches or 5.37 L.
    Thanks for watching!!

  • @neverendingmods
    @neverendingmods Před rokem

    A great inexpensive but quick build. Great job guys.! 👍👍
    Tip for Dyno.
    When doing a pull, throw it either into neutral or next gear right when lifting at end of pull. I've seen cars and bikes grenade, float valves, etc because the Dyno roller keeps spinning faster after redline is reached when left in gear. As much as 600rpm additional climb when roller continues to ramp up after jumping off throttle.
    On a stick car or drag bike you just clutch it. Auto cars need to be shifted up or put into neutral at throttle lift.
    Having extra rpm beyond set redline will only save you so many times. It's how many motors get hurt tuning and doing Dyno pulls.

    • @Calvin-Nelson
      @Calvin-Nelson  Před rokem

      Yeah. You can't do that. You will destroy your transmission. If you throw the car in neutral with a th400 at 7500 RPM, it will disengage the direct clutch and spin the drum at 15000RPM, which will destroy things. The only good way to do that is by putting a clean neutral in the Trans.
      Another thing, I couldn't throw it in neutral if I wanted to. Lol. It's a reverse pattern trans. I'd have to go through 2 downshifts to get to neutral.
      Also with a torque converter the engine is not directly coupled with the roller so no worries with overspinning. We take data logs. Have never seen the RPM just keep going.

Buick V6 made 800 horsepower in the 80's on a stock block, but it had issues with oiling, unlike the SB Chevy and LS engines which are basically bullet proof. You have enough HP, just need chassis adjustments. I wonder how long that small engine will last.
