For me, Di Maria is the key player in that World Cup final match 2022, he's the reason he led to the 1st penalty goal and scored the 2nd one after. Mbappe only scored after Di Maria was switched out. For the record, I don't deny Messi's and Mbappe's talents and their roles in the World Cup or whatsoever, I just want to point out how important Di Maria was in that Final match of World Cup 2022.

I'm argentinian and I understand why they changed him. I absolutely loved his performance and he was my favorite player in all of the cup, but looking at the small amount of time he played each game I arrived at 2 conclusions:
      1. His playstyle is so active he cannot mantain it for the whole game
      2. I think he hurt himself in the progress: We all know he is one of our best players, but it was weird that unexpectedly he stopped playing even in the important games: In quarters he only came into playing in min 110 (and made 6 courners in those 10 minutes)
It was an absolute pleasure watching him play at the finals, but at that rythim is imposible for him at that age to maintain that playstyle for long, even if it's even magical

Just to clarify Di Maria is from Rosario there are no mining industry there as is a flat place... his dad was a CHARCOAL BURNER, he had his own business and yeah, family helped. He was lower class but didn't work in mines or was exploited as a kid as it's shown in this video, probably based on a poorly translated wikipedia article.

He is Messi's right hand and the perfect match up for Messi. He is the "shadow" king/prince to the GOAT Messi and the guy that always turned up on the biggest games Argentina has had. One of the most underrated players of his generation, one who had more HUEVOS and definitely not a pechofrío. He was born for big games, both in club and country. Rosario gave him the power and he has given everything back to Argentina. Well deserved, GRANDE FIDEO!
