How good was Nani actually? #GOAT CR7
New video about one of the most talked about players we've seen over the 2000's in football. In this episode we take on Nani, the original next Cristiano Ronaldo who played for Manchester United, Valencia, Fenerbahce, Orlando City and Sporting CP for most of his career.
00:00 Intro, Have a Nice Day!
1:05 Losing his Father, Starving And Never Stopping
4:05 Meeting Cristiano Ronaldo
8:10 From Next Ronaldo to "Not Ronaldo"
10:22 Player Of The Year
14:08 Saving Ronaldo Once Again - Sport
This narrative of this video gives the idea he had a failed career only because he did not achieve the same level as Ronaldo which apart from Messi nobody achieved. Nevertheless, he is a ballon d'or nominee and a man utd player of the year. He had a great career and for a short period of time was one of the best players in the world.
He won the euros that's his biggest achievement
@@yemi3266 and everything he won at United
Well said Sir
Facts
@@yemi3266 We can say the same about Ronaldo. The best Portuguese players are Ronaldo, Eusebio Figo, Futre and Rui Costa. In that order. Vitor Baía, Maniche, Deco, and the two João Pinto.
Nani was nominated for the most underrated 11 in the Premier League history! Thats a high praise 🔥🇵🇹🇨🇻
That's just sad

Loved Nani growing up. Fantastic player and I always felt that he was so underrated
He won Euro and he was amazing.
Always felt the same about Kanchelskis..
2010 2011 I think it was imo he was one of the best players in the world that season
Nani definitely a huge factor in Portugal achieving the Euro Cup 🙌🏼🇵🇹
yup in was #1,2,3... Hard to say the old guys were the top 3. Nani, Quaresma, Ronaldo were the best.
As a Cape Verdean myself I was always amazed at his journey. He made the country proud and he did it with style. Thank you for showcasing one of my own. Obrigado primo
How did he make the country proud when he didn't choose to represent us? Barely anyone knows he is originally from Cape Verde. Bebe choosing to represent us should make us proud.
He literally represented the country that enslaved you😂
@@thabiso5792 his country
@@thabiso5792 so did England and France, etc!!🙄😏
Didnt know this. He looks more a verdean than Portuguese
The injuries and inconsistency past 2012 man, before that Nani was insane he made the Ballon D'Or nominations twice. The 10-12 Nani man he was insane.
Yeah he had a few good seasons but I don't think he was ever the best player in the world.. I rate prime Rooney better at man unt from a teenager he was different class.. surez was better and played in a weaker team than man unt Gerrard was also better from a young boy to then captain of Liverpool winning uefa cup champions League and someone that was a leader could assist tackle had amazing range of passing and also could score and assist goals and Liverpool were a weaker side than AC Milan Chelsea and man unt .. Chelsea offered him crazy money alot bigger salary but he chose to stay at his boyhood club..Nani a good player has world class players around him and strikers so even a bad cross into the box guy like van persie Rudd van nistelrooy Rooney would score was playing with Paul scholes Giggs Ronaldo.. Rio Ferdinand vidic in defence.. and with his pace skill get the ball in the box he would get an assist and he did score some great goals.. but he wasn't the best finisher could miss some easy chances but he was good.. but not better than a prime Giggs at man unt or a figo at Barcelona or Madrid figo has better finishing and was technically better.. but Nani was a great player on his day but never the best player in the world
Grew up watching Nani. Wish everyone would stop comparing to Ronaldo, saying he didn't "Live up to the potential". The guy was a beast and gave me and so many United fans, great moments. A brilliant and underrated player. What is even was his potential then, if he had such a fruitful career, scoring so many important goals and became a United legend/cult hero. Thanks for the memories, Nani.
Thank you for speaking my mind bro. SAF never compared Nani to CR7. Nanị was a great player with great ethics, hardwork and professionalism.
Nani was actually among the best players in the world, but sporting and Portugal probably kept comparing him to CR7.
I had such an experience with JJ Okocha and Wilson Oruma of Nigeria. Oruma let people's comments about Okocha get to him. This is someone who was personally picked by the great Pele as best player of the JVC Japan cup in 1993. He left his own style and tried to play Okocha's.
Nani however was not like that, he played his own style and we at United saw him. He was great to have as he controlled play like an unsung Chelsea hero (Eidur Goodjonssen) or a France Sissoko (previous one).
You're a classy guy that enjoys the moments, people love to compare and hate. Nani was a great winger, playmaker and made great passes. He's no Cr7, but who is? No even Messi is Cr7 vise versa.
"forget about that you moving in with me"
Ronaldo really2 took care of his mate.
Anyway, Nani is so underated.
exactly!
I have so many Nani memories, mad respect for him! Red Devils 🔥⚽️
Reds Devils forever.
Nani is my favorite footballer of all time. His time for Orlando City was inspiring for my city. This was a fantastic video that deserves positive attention. Nani is a great player 💜 A lion forever!
I wish he gave you one more year... I'm a fan of Orlando because of Nani and Dwyer.. I wish Kaka would of stayed longer too..
@@joshuabrown2134 he's my footballing hero. I really wish he would have stayed :(
Nani was my favorite player growing up, his passing was amazing and had beautiful skills
Ronaldo, Nani and Quaresma winning the Euro 2016 will always be a magic moment
Three of them combining total of 14 goals contribution for their country in Euro 2016 is just beyond ridiculous!
Almost as if they worked together to at least achieve something as the first Portugal's golden generation
Seeing Quaresma finally mature was beautiful.
@@Christoffski it truly was. A very special, misunderstood player
@@alfrzlbmsyh it was perfect for me
I loved watching Nani, Ronaldo and Quaresma. I loved when the 3 won the euro cup in 2016
Insane front 3 now that I think about it
The main problem with players like Quaresma and Nani are that they had an insane showboating capability, but, that's where Ronaldinho stands out from the rest, besides being a Showboat Ronaldinho was a pure magician with one of the best Playmaking, passing, shooting and Freekick abilities of his era
No. Ronaldinho did it every game... nani did it 1 in 10 games
Playing around van nistlerooy changed him to a goal poacher.
did you not see that nani had the best assist to minute ratio of any man united player lol, he did have end product
Ronaldinho showboating was not just for show and he's proven it to be effective in his way
@hfc talent dosent get u anywhere....u have to have hard work to channel and maintain that talent.
Honestly I always felt like because his number weren't rly high or consistent he was never given the credit he deserved but the truth is he was always a top quality player and always underrated. Escpecially considering they replaced him at Man Utd with Valencia who wasnt even close to him
Valencia was a solid player and very consistent.
@@Ligerpride what are you smoking mate?? Valencia was signed as a winger, had very poor numbers and was only converted to a fullback because of his speed. The guy struggled to beat players and his crosses were mostly awful. Do not get me started on the point that he never even bothered to learn the language despite being the captain at some point. He was a great player and leader but his abilities were nowhere near Nani's.
@@handelowino5146 I don't disagree with you. My point still remains though.
He should've go to Japan. Nani?!?!
Underrated comment.
He is not Ronaldo...but he did for his team Sporting what Ronaldo never did thank you Nani!!!!
& vital in the euros
Ronaldo will be back at Sporting by January.
@@motorsportfan1246 I REALLY wish this aged well

Ronaldo was like an older brother to nani
Nani was still damn good at Manchester United tho and he still won the Euros so I wouldn't care if I was him
Dont really agree with the opening statements. He was loved by the united fans and was never forgotten. He was a top player who performed at a high level for us and was part of huge successes at United.

That’s a classic post-Ferguson United move: hang onto a star player who isn’t playing well or fit the system and sit him on the bench for years. Hopefully Ten Hag will change this.
Erm nope ...ask cr37 dvdbeek casimiro et al
Nani is so good and frustrating at the same time. He did win silverware at Manchester United but he was inconsistent. Nani is one of the players of "What could have been".
Literally the highest assist rate in prem history.. what u talkin about lol
Nani was more talented than Cristiano
Ferguson was inconsistent... not Nani. In the end Ferguson destroyed Man United.

@@diegolisandror2 there's an argument for that you know, fergie as great as he was left an aging grp of players to an inexperienced manager at top level. Fergie handpicked moyes it was reported and that could have been the moment that set the stage for the decline to come. They needed an experienced tactician to rebuild the squad, someone like ancelotti.
Nani was one of my favourite players of all time. Love his long shot goals and those backflip celebrations.
Could you do one about Matias Fernandez please. Felt he should have been one of the best in the world but never lived up to the hype
Good call
YES PLEASE
I watched him score a Beauty in Orlando and he can still do that Backflip Goal Celebration at his Age. It was amazing
Orlando City Nani 💜😭 I miss him so much
Nani was my favourite player growing up! Always felt like he was massively underappreciated despite all he achieved. Thank you for this
Aí português ,grande conteúdo como sempre, the best football channel on yt ,parabéns e vivó Porto
I was thinking that u gonna do a "next ronaldo" term video like for nani, depay, martial or even rashford bsc everyone in united young an ambitious was called "the next ronaldo". Good video, I really like it
It never ceases to amaze me how football can lift so many out of absolute poverty, of course they’re a slim majority, but it’s good to see nonetheless. Obviously it shouldn’t be that way in the first place, but I’m happy for Nani. Especially for being able to find his dad and then his friendship with Ronaldo is beautiful 😂
Love it, different point of view to tell a story
I Am a United Fan and I Was A HUGE Nani Fan... He Was Really Exciting To Watch
Always remembered Nani cutting in from the right and unleashing shots from his left leg. Great video
I love your videos each time I watch them I fall in love with football all over again, I wish you could do one on a Rangers player like Gazza or Davie Cooper even maybe Albertz who we called Der hammer cause his shots were like rocket blasts
Awesome video, felt like you should have highlighted his MLS career more, because he did great things there
As a Manchester United supporter for 40 seasons. I enjoyed Nani's career at United. He had some great performances. He is also a multi millionaire so l don't think he has suffered too much do you? I have worked a lot harder in youth support and currently can't find a rental in Australia. Keep it in perspective. There is only one Ronaldo it doesn't mean everyone else wasn't of value.
Please watch Alpha and omega productions to hear what's really going on.
Nani is a very definition of a dependable friend. He is a hero, i have a lot of respect for him all those years, too bad he couldn't reach his fullest potential because such unfair pressure.
Great video! Done such a good job!
One of my favourite players. Entertaining player.
A truly great dribbler.. i liked watching Nani.. made me smile to see football played with flair.. flair is the frosting of the beautiful game! ❤
#RESPECT
Great narration. 👍
nani was a different player more similar to giggs n beckham but unfortunately everyone wanted him to play like ronaldo. Me being a united fan and only realizing this now shows how much fans n managers misunderstood the player
kinda crazy but one of the first matches I remember watching was the community shield between man city and united, I don't remember how city scored two of their goals nor remember how united scored their first as I was around maybe 7 years old, but I remember nani scoring the second and third goal for man united securing the comeback and his celebration where he pointed at his name at the back of his kit infront of the man united fans.
Wow great video. I want to go watch Melbourne Victory now
Magical video bro
Nani. How we missed him in Sporting!
What a player!
Arsenal fan here....man i love your videos and your narration, never stop doing it,just a suggestion of players you could cover,....ramires,rosicky,nasri,meirelles and i guess some blacks like demba cisse and ba who did good in epl.

hi man i love videos i spent most of my time watching them for almost 2 years now ... After watching your puskas and di stefano video but please can you do laszlo kubala and raul
Nani foi e será sempre um dos meus favoritos da seleção portuguesa!
I always remember that goal he scored against Tottenham after goal keeper sit on his brain and Nani pop behind him.. that was quick thinking👌
It hurts to see some players go down due to pressure he was a joy to watch
Euro 2016, I was watching that game and this man was untouchable. Constantly testing the keeper. He put on a show, and I'll re-watch that performance.
I disagree a little bit about your earlier comments, United supporters love Nani. I loved Nani, I just found him very inconsistent.
Also, Nani did a fantastic interview with Rio Ferdinand.
Fabulous storytelling from you my friend
Thank you
His childhood reminds me of mine, what a legend
Hope you are good now
Nani was a very good player. Maybe a little consistent but always capable of brilliance. Had a great career when you look at his honours.
Nani was amazing. Wish we had a player like him now.
bro this guys narrative is soooo dramatic, but don’t get me wrong, i love it
Your channel is goated ..
Nani was unbelievable at United, I was shocked when we let him go, pure match winner
Great vid
I definitely feel like practicing back flips now till I can stick a landing.
That Ronaldo fit over the disallowed goal was truly hilarious
This is a heart touching story give me goosebumps
Nice to see so many supporters of Nani ♥️🇵🇹
Legend has it that Nani inspired Dappy from N-dubz. Dappy was a young man with a stutter. Whilst eating a Greggs pasty and looking into a window of John Lewis.
A young Dappy saw Nani score an amazing goal against Burton Albion. As he tried to scream Nani's name in ecstasy (pause) he stuttered and shouted those immortal words... Na na naiiii and the rest my friends, is history.
Yayy another vidio
He was a very frustrating player during a frustrating time watching United. We grew to expect flawless demolitions but the terrain was changing. I never saw his assist stats and it's incredible to think he was a better goal creator than Giggs and Cantona. Great video.
Good analysis as dramatic a narration as usual. But the use of the metaphor‘standing on the shoulders of giant’s’ is probably incorrect. Maybe standing in the shadows of greats.
I didn't know this about Nani, It goes to show how a lot of these Super successful football players, Come from humble beginnings, Respect
I loved Nani with all my heart growing up, he was the most interesting player to watch at our club for a while
I live in massama, near the academy and nani back then was a lengend there
Thank You ❤️Nani 17❤️ for all your times, efforts and memories in MUFC...We hoping to see MUFC lift UEFA CL sooner or maybe one day again~ 2008 is a great year for me and MUFC.
I think when life just happens so quickly where you’re at the bottom then all of a sudden at the top, you don’t have time to self reflect and build character. All he knew was work hard and be loyal because it seems like there was always someone there taking him under his wing and whoever that was, he would just be loyal to them. So he couldn’t really build that ego which was needed in times where he should’ve maybe put his foot down. Shouldn’t have been benched for that final, makes no sense from Fergie.
☝🏽
Happens a lot, when you are colored have 2 work two times harder than everybody.
A great player who just couldn’t carve out his own lane and lives in somebody else’s Shadow. I didn’t realise that that CR7 goal should have been classed as a goal
Love this vid keep it up
He was my fav player growing up!
A very touching story.
He was a great player, a great entertainer.
Too bad too many couldn't see him for who He was instead constantly comparing him to Cristiano
Nani was given every chance to shine after Ronaldo left for Real Madrid.
He just wasn't consistent enough and was plagued by injuries... It's a shame because he was a very likable character.

Rodrygo reminds me so much of nani. There when you need him, mentality monster, and always being compared with vini with g/a

As an Orlando City Supporter I miss Nani dearly he was always so fun to watch
This video opened my eyes to Nani. What a player.
One of my favourite Man Utd player ever. So under rated
I remember loving to play him on fifa back in the days haha
Pls do a video of Ribery and Robben
Just watch all of hiis goal collection in mamchester Utd shirts. 41 of it, but all his goal were wow!! Many from long range shots and what agoal. His more like provider than finishers. How many assists his give to his teammates.
Very good player and one of the most underrated in morden football history.
As a man utd fan and a season ticket holder for the last 15yrs believe me Nani was loved by the fans. This narrative doesn't talk about how much Ferguson stood by Nani and praised him. He was only dropped when tactics and injuries made it necessary. It was after Ferguson left it went pear shaped for Nani
Great fan of nani most underrated player some season he is more number than any other player.
Nani was a great Wing, he could fly with the ball and make some big crosses and make defenders look weak, but he didn't make as many goals as Cristiano and therefore couldn't shine as much...Cristiano and Nani played together in the national team for so many years they understood each other and got along just fine
As a Man utd Supporter i always adored Nani and he was always called to replace Valencia on the right various times.
Such a great player ⚽♥️
3:40 i've tears in my eyes !! we all love you nani, we will remember you .
Nani is my childhood hero .. when everytime playing fifa he is good at scoring
My favorite ❤
i hear about him back in the bays and i am happy to know what's happened to him.
Ronaldo is a friend we all deserve.
Till now,i still miss Nani... ❤️❤️❤️
Nani was very good at Man Utd.
Sometimes I felt he was lacking some grit but that’s his style because he was humble... If he was more flashy with crazy hairstyles, had more ego and gymed up a bit more, he would have had his own identity for sure. To me he was excellent and I always watched him cause he comes up with a lot of playmaking moves in the game, he was fast and scores when the team really needed it. Great player!
