  • @justinwieduwilt5420
    @justinwieduwilt5420 Před 4 měsíci +242

    His pace obviously made him lethal, but also it was his directness of play and his tenacity and insane work rate. That Leicester championship team was just such a perfect lightning in a bottle moment, and a lot of credit has to go to their scouting/player development. Vardy’s finishing was amazing, but so was the service he was getting from the midfield, they just had perfect players/team/system to spring his quick-attack, defense breaking runs. One thing underrated about him is his team play and link-up/passing ability, which i think he got better and better at as he aged… When he didn’t have quite the same quality of distribution coming his way, or wasn’t able to get behind the defense, he made up for it by providing a fair number of scoring opportunities for teammates.

      Vardy actually scored a rare type of clutch goal throughout his Euro 2016 campaign with England.
      I still remember his goal against Wales, it would be rendered offside by now, but that kind of clutch goal definitely was something rare, but he made it looks easier; he got past Ashley Williams in an offside position, while the ball deflected from the Welsh defender to his foot, then scored it right inside the box.

      I will never not be angry about THAT Croatia match against a ponderous back line crying out for a pacey striker with a record of scoring decisive goals to undo them, but instead Kane was put out to lumber around the pitch not being very useful (this was a season or so before the man learned he could pass to his teammates instead of taking on and missing every shot) and Vardy got left on the bench until the game reached injury time with England a goal down. Haven't been able to get excited about the national team since that confirmation that the England team is only picked on favourites, not on the basis of who's the best actual fit for the situation.

    One of the great things about Jamie Vardy is that he's left every team better than when he joined them. In fact, with the exception of Stockbridge Steels, he's won in every division he's been in:
    - In 2011, Halifax Town won the NPL Premier Division (just after being promoted, no less)
    - In 2012, Fleetwood Town won the Conference Premier title.
    - In 2014, Leicester City won the EFL Championship
    - In 2016, Leicester City won the Premier League
    and now in 2023-24, they're at the top of the Championship once more, with them and Ipswitch being 10 points clear of everyone else almost half a season in.
    And isn't it what we all want to end up leaving the things we're involved in better than when we arrived there?

    "Because when you're clutch, you're clutch everywhere."
    These words couldn't really more describe just how much of a clutch-type player he is. He always scored when he got any golden opportunity to do so, became the silver-lining in most of matches he played, while turned the silver into gold with his assists that actually were too much of a world-class for someone who had been spending his much of career in lower divisions, with Leicester being the only professional club he had been played. While that match against Manchester United, I never really watched it, he struck me really well when he played against Newcastle during that 2014-2015 as he somehow saved the club from losing points by his match winning goal.
