It may sound dumb, but as a teen watching Davids play with glasses gave me hope that I could play no matter how bad my sigth was
That doesn't sound dumb, its beautiful!
That ain’t dumb it makes sense
That's kinda wholesome 😅
❤
Man, you guys are awesome 🥲💙
His glasses made him even more iconic. He was one of fave players
O still believe he is not human, he belongs to the jungle lol
Edgar Davids...one from those golden players I loved Juve for in 90s and 00s
Davids at Juventus dominated the midfield with his power and pace, earning him the nickname ‘The Pitbull’.
Football in the '80s, '90s and early 2000s was plenty of defenders and defensive midfielders like Davids.
They were the real reason why guys like Ronaldo Nazario, Batistuta, Signori or Shearer were not scoring 40 goals every single season, unlike nowadays when every year a new record is broken due to the ridiculous defending.
People today say Ramos or Chiellini are the toughest guys in football... Back then, guys like them they were just normal defenders.
EXACTLY!!! Defenders back in the days were absolute warriors units and DM'S were real defensive midfielders not freaking Deep laying play makers they werent as good on the ball but passing them was like trying to jump over a 7ft wall
Spot on pal I say this all the time!! Real midfielders and defenders!! They would make mince meat out of today's players. I too loved Juventus back then Davids and Zidane, pure quality!!! David's was actually my favourite player back then easy. Miss those days!!
People are saying today's players are faster but come up against those defenders and they'll get hospitalized 😂
You know it's going to be a great video when you hear "Soooo... listen to this"
Stolen comment
Watching Davids growing up I never knew he was so short, he played in such a way you just wouldn't think he was.
It's the "pitbull effect" Edgar Davids had He was a pitbull for real when you look at some crazy looking pitbulls you can get the feeling that their bigger than you because you know in a fight they would munch you
I tried to emulate Edgar Davids every time I played. He was the Pitbull. An absolute dog on the field. With an engine that never gave in. I still have the nickname Vindog now, 25 years after I stopped playing. If only I could have been a small percentage as influencial on the field as he was. He never gave up. That Dutch team he was part of was probably the best team not to win a Copa Mundial. Those Surinamese players just clicked so well for the Dutch national team. If only they could have accepted them. Still goes down as one of my favourite players ever, especially when he was at Juve with Del Piero.
Correction, they were not immigrants from Surinam, but have Surinam roots, Dutch born and raised. There is a huge Surinam community living for generations in Holland, delivering many great sportsmen and women.
Davids and Seedorf were both born in Paramaribo
That's what Wikipedia says... so... immigrants.
@@joesouthborn2960 no way you said wikipedia is a reliable source lol. are you serious, a website owned by the government and a place where anyone with an account can edit is bound for mistakes
@@johnwick7583 why would anyone lie about the birthplace of a football player? Ffs save these sceptical complaints for matters that are complex and actually matter.
@@Joe-ss9cr did I say it was an important issue 🤡?. All I said it Wikipedia is not a reliable source at all for a lot of things especially things the government doesn’t want you to just read. Learn to read context 🤣
Edgar Davids was a spectacular legend where he battled from nearly being blind to being an extremely so fantastic footballer at every footballing clubs where he joined, good friends!!!I do hope to see him being a manager at a footballing, not necessarily from the top flight,Lower and Non Leagues and long live to him, good friends!!!:-D
He was already a fantastic footballer before being a bit blind. That’s a misconception. He got blind later. Just like Petr Cech who had already won the premier league twice before his helmet
What an inspirational story. Edgar David's story shows that nothing is impossible if you have the right mindset and determination.
Never knew his full story. Thanks for sharing it! Holy smokes, what a character
@DailyDoseofFootball please make a story about Andreas Brehme, a legendary player who was an underrated full-back in the 90s who played mostly for Kaiserslautern, Inter, Bayern and many more who sadly passed away. Or about Jan Koller who played for Borussia Dortmund as a striker in the early 2000s.
Yeah great shout on a video about Jan Koller 👌🏻
Thanks for Honza Koller, he has really good story about himself. Anyway they made a movie about Jan Koller back in 2022

One of my favorite players growing up, his glasses are iconic.
Yeah ikr to me it seems so weird seeing him without the iconic glasses he was some player
I know it's an almost prehistoric era but a doc on John Charles would be amazing. Probably the finest player this nation has ever produced yet nobody outside of Wales seems to know him. He's got an amazing story and I think you'd do it justice with the heavy research you put into each video.
Always needed Davids in my football manager games. guy was a beast.
Man! That video just kept escalating in levels! Awesome vid man!
Love your videos bro i just sit there for like an hour watching them on my tv
Thank You so much man I wanted to see this video in long long time
Glad you made a video on Edgar honestly he went through some shit but was a great player, id say iconic.
great vid (as always) this time on my absolute fav midfielder. CHEERS!!!!!!
I remember seeing edgar in a magazine when i was a kid didn't know he was this good and tenacious
I love this channel thanks bro 😎👍
Such an iconic player, one of the greatest Dutch players of the late 90s/early 00s. He was absolutely relentless.
I feel as though Davids legacy was really overshadowed by Seedorf
Seedorf was definitely the more technical player of the two, Seedorf was a scalpel, Davids a broadsword.
They are completely different players with different strong and weak sides. Davids is faster, better defensively and actually technically better in small spaces. Seedorf is tactically much better, has a better pass, better long shot.
As a kid watched both of them play together and Davids was my favourite over Seedorf, Rijkaard and Kluivert were also great, maaan whoever loved football had to love those Dutch teams of the 90's. De Boer brothers, Koeman, Van Basten, Van Der Sar, Gullit...
It is such a hard choice, they were all amazing.
It was magical, those Dutch national teams.
Dank u wel!
❤
🇵🇱🇳🇱
@@lucas82 not sure about the technical per se. I've seen them both play in the Dutch league and abroad since I was young. The scalpel / broadsword comparison is a very, very bad one. They just had a different style. It's like saying that compared to Ronaldinho Zidane is a crowbar. Just dumb.
@realdjoffski7201 totally agree I loved the Dutch back then, Davids was my favourite too!! Those were the days!!!
I love your videos so much bro......always puts me in a happy mood😅
"So.......listen to this"
Me: 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
He was my favourite player when I was a kid. I also had to wear (sun)glasses for medical reasons outside doing sports. People often reacted weirdly to it so it was so important to have someone to point to. And I was also doing the most running of all kids - though in contrast to Davids that was because of a lack of technical skills.
My favorite defensive midfielder. Amazing technique. Neverending tenacity. Ferocious tackler.
Mr daily dose of football, i know that you have a lot of players in your list for future video, but please consider making one about Redondo.
I have to mention that Edgar is one of my personal favourite players as a child that grew up in the 90s and early 00s. Thank you so much.
That face off between Edgar and Messi arg vs ned at world cup he looked a real gangsta.
Great video as usual
Great Video as always .Its crazy how unlucky this man was.Everyone only talks about people like baggio who died standing but dont remember this forgotten legend
every Juve and also FIFA 2001 fan remembers this guy
He was literally one of my favourite players to watch. It didn’t matter who he was playing for, if he was playing I would watch it. That engine, determination, stamina and appetite was just surreal
Another great video ❤
Crazy vid Love it
I remember to 2000s Nike commercial he does a sick flick up back pass back to a teammate. I was inspired so I created a flick up freestyle that goes back to your other foot
Best nike commercial with v Gaal etcetera, Figo if I'm right..
I remember using a lot Netherlands on winning eleven pro 10, he was too good but I know knew his story. Great video!
No other defensive midfielder in history of football , had that crazy technical skills like davids. He was also face for FIFA 2003 with ryan giggs and roberto carlos. Great memories.
Fantastic video
How did the Netherlands not win a World Cup... what players they had! I loved Davids.
because of racism in the team,no unity at all team was divided in the surinames vs the dutch
Beautiful Story. Amazing Player! 🎉.
Just popped in to say that having lived through the period while Edgar Davids was playing and having just read the thumbnail that I would like to declare that nobody had any question as to his humanity. Cheers.
One of my fav players back in the days
As a kid, i used to think edgar davids looks damn cool with those goggles/glasses. Very iconic and boy he is amazing
wow what a player. great video!
Davids/Seedorf duo was the midfield backbone of Ajax and the Dutch team. Davids never gave up chasing the ball, putting massive pressure on the other team. Called him the pitbull back then.
Zidane told this story: When they were playing at Juve, going to train or after that, they stopped the car in a parking lot and there was some teenager playing (on the concrete) and they asked the two legends to join and play with them. Edgar told Zizou "Let's go" and Zidane replied "We are pros, we signed a contract, we're not allowed to do this, we can get injured", and Edgar was like:"C'MON, THIS IS THE REASON WHY WE PLAY FOOTBALL.".
To make people happy, and you did it Edgar. One of the best man and player in Juve history
There were some incredible Dutch players: johann cruyff, Edgar davids , arjen robben, mark overmars, giovani van bronchorst, Ruud van nistelrooy, ruud gullit, robin van persie, Dennis bergkamp, marco van basten, Clarence seedorf
Just a note: the 5th tier, Vanarama National / Conference is not amateur. Most teams are professional, with some being semi-pro. Barnet would have still been fully pro. I think the highest amateur team in the UK is Corinthian Casuals, who are 8th tier.
Insane when calling out racism is considered "burning bridges" but we know the Dutch
You could argue that but it was hardly the only coach he had issues with.
Yep typical dutch
Love content
My #1 defensive midfielder of all time. The best enforcer.
Yo pls make a ruud gullit one he was a famous Dutch player like davids he also played with Cruyff and also played against Maradona he is a underated icon
very good episode ✨
my children idol.☀️🔥❌❌❌
Legend i was very happy when he signed in Barca ❤️💙
very entertaining player, that ajax team back in the day was stacked with great players.
Hey brother, i hope your doing well. I was really hoping if you would make a video on Eusebio as i saw his picture once and thought that nobody really talkd about him anymore considering his achievements
BEST FOOTBALL CZcamsR
This was the golden period of football, the late 80’s through to about 2010.
Yesss, please do Patrick Kluivert next!
One of the greatest midfielders of the 90's and 2000. I have watched as a dutch person so many games of him, and he was very special. Unique. So strong and so teechnical.
That's one hell of a career 👏 😳 joining the likes of Cesc, Zlatan, O'Fenomeno, and Vieira as the legends who failed to get their hand on the 'big ears'
he did, he just ddin't play in a final in wich he won, but he played through a winning campaign with Ajax
He did play in the final, It was like one of the main points of the video.
Thanks for this excellent video, Edgar Davids was my favourite player as a kid and I didn't know much of this background detail
Those orange glasses were so badass and terrifying for some reason
For me as a kid, it was very cool to have such an amazing player wearing glasses to play football too, it was very iconic.
Man Renato Sanchez reminds me so much of David's. It's unfortunate he is so injury prone
Loved Davids back then what a player he was, no messing around just straight dominating players!! Those were the days!!!
1 of my Favorite Juventus Players back in the days.. 90's childhood days and 2000s teenage days
I remember my dad told me about a player who had glasses and really tough from ajax
One of my favourite players of all time.. what a legend.
Very very underrated.
L E G E N D - Fino alla fine personified!
My daily dose of daily dose of football
Narrators tone is overly dramatic! Amazing piece on an amazing Guy
One of the best DMF of all time!
Edgar Davids tested positive for banned steroid nandrolone while playing for Juventus in 2001.
The Dutchman had been expected to receive a 16-month ban, which would have seen him miss the 2002 World Cup, but he was eventually given a four-month suspension, reduced from five on appeal. Numerous others including Pep Guardiola, Frank DeBoer & Jaap Stam tested positive (aka were caught)
Lest we forget, the game's four wealthiest leagues - in England, Italy, Spain and Germany - have more drug cheats than elsewhere because the world's biggest names play in them.
The Pitbull!! Loved Edgar Davids.
Grande Juventino, got his jersey, great player!
Edgar Davids deserves some recognition too🔥
One of my Favorite players from the 90s
Davids and Seedorf in midfield was a cheat code! ❤
Can you do a video on Juninho Pernambucano? He was a set piece specialist, but never made it to any of the top teams (Besides Lyon), despite clearly having the skill required
A great player! I really liked him. His goggles made him iconic. A legend of the game!
🇸🇷 where the real legends are made
10:38 Same thing happened to Pogba at Juventus. Juventus has had history of adding stuff in their player's diet without their notice. Feel so sorry for Pogba.
Great story as always! Love looking forward to seeing new story everytime 😆
Btw, could you check your inbox DDOF? I've sent you one 🥰!
Edgar davids is the Netherland Ronaldinho
Edgar David is one of the players who let fans who have bad vision a hope to become a professional player
Edgar was all in all so good
I've never seen another player so relentless, neither before nor after him. The very definition of a Pitbull.
I need a video of Marcelo 🔥
Beast
Davids was an amazing player, defensive midfielder don't get much better.
We used to joke in the Netherlands that the glasses were for protection against the bone splinters flying around.
The ending killed me lolololol
Louis Van Gaal turns up in the early career of so many of these players that go on to be world class!
😊🙏 Edgar Davids with his iconic goggles looking like one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ... Turtle Power! 🌷🌿🌏⚽️✌💜🕊🇳🇱
the blood doping scandal and calciopoli scandal are 2 different ones separated by a decade
Crazy story is I signed this guy for Barnet in cm01/02
Year was 2003, cm season like 2008-2010 after I was in the prem …
Real life the guy signed for Barnet in 2012
I think the Dutch do not appreciate Edgar Davids enough as a legend
respect!
Do one for Josh McEachran
