    Honestly if you enjoy repurposing furniture that's fine, but cheap - it is not always the case. For example that turquoise crate shelf would have cost about $100 by the time she was done and it's not going to be that sturdy because the wood is flimsy. You have to make sure to measure the cost out when these videos tell you it's "cheap."

    • @zonagal4982
      @zonagal4982 Před rokem +18

      Not $100 for that crate shelf. Those crates are about $7 at Wal-Mart & paint sample from Home Depot $4. Cute idea!

      @@zonagal4982 I haven't been able to find any for $7 at Walmart. $20 each at the craft store is the best I could find. So if you did find $7 crates that's cool!

    IMHO wood is naturally beautiful and matches everything.
    I really see the gray on everything as the color of the floor in my garage, primer, or the bondo on a wrecked car.
    Uneventful, depressing, and unimpressive. But its trending. So y'all enjoy. ♥️

      Paint and wallpaper can and do work miracles. That said, I agree with you. While the result of that large kitchen island (painted mat black) was nicely done, My heart broke into pieces to see that type of desk used for that 😞 LOL, also I'd have zero patience with using my head to hold up the door, but hey, good on her 🙂

    • @teresacarle294
      @teresacarle294 Před rokem

      🤔While connecting that center section was good, not sure the appliance "garage" door concept was well thought out. Super to have a spot to stow slow cookers, standing mixer, Instant Pots, air-fryers, etc. Raised up to counter height, it makes a handsome & substantial island👍.
      If it faces toward the other counters (vs open area), you wouldn't need a door on that open section. Even regular cupboard doors would've been better. You could halve or skip the center storage. I would keep part of it, & add pull-out drawers for them. Use the front center space for a single stool to slide under when not in use.
      That way, you could keep the original desk top for your work space💗. Personally, I wouldn't want an oversized top😖 for a big breakfast bar anyway.
      👩‍🍳 As a cook & kitchen hoarder 🍽, I would also wrap the new "toe kick" area w/plywood sheets & trim to enclose the bottom. Use it to store bulk-buy over flow discreetly.
      My 🥰dad got one of those behemoth wooden old fashioned executive desks. It's a hulking monster compared to other desks, but the storage is certainly great. His also has a center drawer. He got it 2nd-hand after my brother moved out. It was already 🖌painted. He repainted it a handsome black.
      💗Love to keep it, but would need a space big enough to fit it.
      😉Although I did see where a hip
      🍎 NYC bachelor turned one into his media center for his humongo flatscreen. Behind it, he put two 1×3 cubby towers that faced out to side. 👀From the front view, the 📺 hid 'em. They housed his wifi/router components & other media out of sight. He bridged those units w/plank top he painted black to match, so he could use that as a ledge to merchandise his collections attractively.
      He also created a wooden riser in front for his TV for the sound bar + gaming system that he also used as a blu-ray. It did have a metal garage door to hide them but still use remotes. Plus, a storage ottoman was stowed in the center section for extra guest seating when needed. It all looked quite 🆒️, & also left the desk otherwise intact. Yay🎉!

    If your a maker and want to make these but can not afford the crates or wood you can make them yourself using pallet wood. The more you work with pallet wood the more you will find and the sizes will blow your mind. I just got 4 pallets made with 4x4 3/4 inch plywood in great shape I have built the tools up so I can take them apart without much damage and that is 2 4x8 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood at 60 dollars at my home depot for free! Yes I now can find pallets and crates that give me 12 foot 2x4 red oak lumber not even lying! But the first few months wow I was lucky to get 1 out of 3 boards without damage! Lol I was just tearing them up! Practice! Women can do anything!

I have a 30+ year old stainless steel sink that is rust free but in 5 years the cheap steel rusted. The contact paper might not rust, but I doubt it will hold up to items being slid across it and maintain it’s shine.

    Lol the paint and the paper made it worse. It ruined the already polished wood quality

    This is not gonna work. You have those caster nailed on with finishing nails and is not study at all. There will be a cave in and the wheels will break. It’s cheaply made for sure and not very efficient.

    Putting contact paper on any kind of table to be worked on is just plain stupid.
