They make awesome mini-greenhouse covers in the garden, especially in early spring and autumn. Place a 5 lb rock on the top to keep the wind out. During the day, you can prop up one end by setting the container's edge on another rock so it doesn't overheat. They stack for easy storage off-season.
Make sure to use mirror mastic specifically for mirrors otherwise it will eventually damage your silver from the back. Do not use regular adhesive/glue.
Thank you for sharing such important information 😊
Why not finish that pillow storage bin, by also putting the fabric on the lid? Instead of that old white plastic lid. Maybe add a strip of black Velvet trim for the side edges.😁
I had the same thought …
to add fabric on the lid!
Great, practical ideas. Do-able ideas! I jute wrapped a hanging lamp and it's twin in a satiny white cord years ago. Mom was going to throw them away so I nabbed one and used jute. She asked I do the other one in white. Used both for YEARS after I "fixed" them.
That second bucket make-over is so much better than the first. (The first one needs for the lid to be covered with fabric too)
Thanks for the idea.
And a bit of variation on the order of things. If the fabric were put on before the rope was finished, the rope could cover the fabric to create a much nicer finish. Most of these tubs at Walmart have gone up considerably, might even be possible to get something that looks nice from the get-go at Target.
“Nice looking bin”? Not even close! Craft hacks are only good if you do a professional looking job of it.
I'm inspired by the cooler foot stool project. I'm not going to all that trouble & expense though. An old bed pillow laid on the lid with a piece of fabric or a fleece lap blanket draped over the whole thing is sufficient enough for me.
How long do you think styrofoam will last
5:50 is my fav! I will have to do this come Spring!
The mirror looks amazing
I love the tile mirror. Great tile choices!
Such excellent ideas all the time!! Thank you:)
What great ideas...thank you! This is the first time I've come across your channel. Subscribed.
Heres a fantastic idea. Use em for storage. I throw all my dry foods ingredients in em. I dont even try to organize it..Genius..lol
Did you know that some bins come with rollers?
I wouldn't be drilling holes in walmart containers. I've been looking for the perfect finishing organizational touches and have found a handful of bins with fine print on the tags saying they contain lead or have some kind of stink to them. Wood crates from Michael's or something would be a fun project though.
I love the ideas of the mirror 🪞 and the water fountain ⛲️. Regarding the fountain; I wonder how long it would last because we have extremely hard water in our area 🤔
If you are concerned about about lime build-up, you could run some coffee pot cleaner or vinegar through it once in a while, filter the water with a Brita pitcher, or use distilled water....maybe a litle impractical for a fountain with a large reservoir but this can be addressed by the size of pot used.
Or add vinegar to the water.
You could just get some distilled water for it

I was hoping this video was about making huts for colony cats during the winter. I need to know what kind of straw I need for feral cats.
Barley, wheat and oat straw are the most commonly used.
The mirror project is really beautiful, but FYI HEADS-UP! Be sure the glue you choose to adhere the mirror to the plywood won't eventually damage the the silvering on the mirror and create visible black marks on the reflective surface. There are mastics especially for mirrors. Ask at the paint desk of your store about this and they can guide you to an appropriate product that will be safe for the silvering AND powerful enough to hold the mirror. Otherwise, a very easy and kool look for a very little money.
I love these cute ideas! To the people who are making negative comments, post your videos of your own incredible unique ideas and we’ll judge you accordingly.
🐇🕯love the kitchen island...Genius!! All of the ideas are great!!...
Great ideas. Thanks for the shares. 😊😊😊 Merry Christmas 🎄
My Cats would use that lampshade as a scratching post... LOL Cute idea, but not at my house...
You and me both, lol.
Wonderful ideas thanks for sharing this is so gorgeous love it 😍 Wow❤❤❤
That island is awesome!!
I like the mirror with the tile!❤🎉😊
The mirror is amazing.
I like the solor fountain. I will make that!!!
Do you know where we can get the solar pump?
Great job sir!!👏👏👏
This guy does a hilarious happy little Bob Ross presentation.
Cool. Love the ideas.
Great ideas, I love them all.👍💕
Ok..he's got that 'Bob Ross' voicing.🤭
Where did you get the solar pump for the water fountain?
Absolutely cool ideas
Winners. I love the wheels, idea. Come next Spring I will use the hoops idea, I have so many climbing plants, sweet peas, various clematis, and ivy.
💜Thank You for the Inexpensive Ideas 💜
You had my jaw dropping quite a few times on these do it yourself projects. I subscribed! I definitely want to do that water fountain. Was that shoulder? I didn’t catch that part.
Where do you get the shades??? Please?
"genius" is a strong word for this video.
I really like the mirror. The kitchen island is a great idea too. Don't know what the dowel plugs were for though.
Isn’t that where he put the wheels? I’d have to watch again cuz I don’t remember exactly what your referring to.
The dowels were to hold the washer and nut together while the glue dried. They were removed when it was dry.
Love these ideas! Thank you
Where do you buy the sheets of mirrors from
Never drill holes at the bottom of a container ... when the project evolves to another use, or say, for instance, the bathtub overflows from the upstairs bathroom, those holes 'leak'.
Love 💕 these hacks cool ideas ❤❤
The reason nobody ever learned what is or isn’t good taste. Things like this.
Where to get solar powered fountain `with` spacers. Looked on line, but none came with spacers. Thank you. Nice idea!
I love the way you give us permission to do things--lol.
Right? Drives me nuts!
Great job
Love the storage ottoman and now can make use of my old cooler
That bin 🫣 2nd bucket bin...😮maybe ....😢 fountain the FIRST DYI sweet idea🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is hysterical she wrapped a plastic bin in fabric and then put the plastic lid on top. Oh yeah I can't recognize that at all.
I imagine it could be spray painted to match. But yeah, I chuckled at that, too!
@@wendybutler1681 Why even bother. If she wants something that looks nice she could buy a basket with a lid.
Lol 😂 😅
😂😂😂😂😂My exact thoughts
A nice basket with a lid costs a lot more. She's trying to show how to make something nice if you can't afford a basket Or just don't feel like spending money on that.
I’m going to make that fountain!!!
These aren't buckets, they're bins. Other than that driving me crazy, you have some nice ideas.
I like the solar powered fountain.
Nice ideas👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
That Was Great. 😊
When mom put all your macaroni art on the fridge when you were a kid...
That jute lampshade gonna be a nightmare to dust.
Ever see those dustpan + hand brush combos in the dollar store? That hand brush makes a great tool for dusting things like jute lamp shades or anything else that has a lot of crevices that can trap dust.
Love all of these ideas, especially the solar powered fountain. I do not have a drill. Suggestions for the best, yet inexpensive, one to get??
Both Harbor Freight and Walmart have cordless drills for under $25. Ryobi and Black Decker are in the $35 to $50 range. A 12v drill is usually just fine for projects like this.
They make pink ones, too! Lighter weight for the ladies. I just figured out how to use a drill myself. It's kinda freeing. I can hang my own shelves now.
It's a great sense of accomplishment to make and create anything. The first time I replaced an alternator on my car was amazing! Necessity, as I was broke lol. And I didn't have to wait on a man to help me 🤣
this was very good
These are amazing ideas. I think I will try the bin with wheels, I have a lot of castor wheels to put on. Thank you guys
I’m subscribed & have been following Hometalk for over a year. My question is can you paint a lampshade. If so, should I use chalk paint or acrylic? Thx in advance
I have a white Walmart lampshade waiting to go on a small brass lamp (if I ever get it rewired). I've been thinking of adding color to it and have been wondering the same thing. I'm leaning towards acrylic. I think I would want a fairly thin consistency in the paint would work best as long as it still had enuf pigment. Solid color or a pattern or design in multiple colors. I know there are fabric paints available. Walmart carries them in the craft dept. They didn't come in tbe colors I needed. I have a woven cotton throw rug, striped in bright colors that I threw hair dye all over and when I washed it it crocked some color and started fading already. So I bought acrylic paint in the exact colors (and one shade I have to mix) to cover the dye and restore the colors. Hope it works. Had the rug 13 yrs and finally had a place to use it. In place 3 weeks when I splatted hair dye on it. Grabbed it to get it into the shower to rinse it right away and got dye all over my new white shower curtain. I have the paint to cover the dye spots on the back of the white bathroom door, too. Been in the newly built house since June and I'm trying to make it look lived in. 😞. So mad at myself. Just redid my hair. Didn't spill a drop this time. I'm always careful but ...
Totally with you. LisaApril
Fantastic and innovative! ❤❤
Great ideas here. I liked them all and they all would come in very handy for anyone.
Wait till someone tries to sit on that cooler foot rest hahaha..😂😂
That's cool 😊
What about the plastic tops
These are cool and all but I’m just gonna say time is worth money! need I say more?
Love the “tiled” mirror!
GENIUS used to mean Einstein or Newton, what happened?
These bins have a down side; they start to crack if you use them outside in the hot sun. But we get what we pay for!
Even in the house. They only last a couple of years.
Hometalk; the new 5-minute Crafts 🙄
Dog pillow😊
Like the roped and cloth covered open bucket on wheels
I'm sorry😂i can not get past the man's voice😅
They already make bins with wheels😂
That lamp was a hot mess 🫤
I agree. It looks like a FIRE HAZZARD! 😮
Yeah ... not my favorite either. It’s just not very attractive. Add a little dust & goodbye lamp shade project.
Thank you for the ideas 💡 keep em up❤
Waaaaao nice 👍👍👍👍😃❤💥😉🌟🌟

Thought it still looked awful
Everything was great except that lampshade……yuck!
By the time u buy the bin, the fabric, the gorilla glue, jute and the time u spend….u could have just purchased a basket from TJ max for less.
Best DIY projects for great inexpensive costs
You don’t give markers in your description to find each project.
I’m not going to watch it all over again to find a particular project. What a waste of time.
You could NOT use that rope.
These ideas are JANKY!!!!!
DIY hacks?, these days are the new marketing trick, for Walmart, dollar tree, hobby lobby. Clever....
I caught that, too. What a world we now live in, eh.
@@ANNIET5775 and usually all the super positive comments, even When the video is not so great, comes from " family members and friends" who are just there for support, you can see that when they call the person by their real name, when the video has
Just a business name. A world of "fakeness". And what is outrageous, they think everybody is dumb, to not see it.
@@user-qm7dk3sz6g Crazy days now ...all over the place. It is seriously time to PRAY HARD.
Clever idea, I am here to tell you that the plastic will buckle and break if you do not figure out a way to add more stabilzation to it. In order to avoid cracking the plastic, you can use a hot glue gun or heat a metal knitting needle ( or nail) over the hot plate on your stove to melt your holes in it as well.
Why waste your time adding "feet" on a bin and covering it with cloth, only to slap a plastic lid on top? That doesn't look better than before. If you're going to do it - do it right. What can be done with the lid? I honestly don't know... Spray paint it? Glue a rectangle of fabric only in the center rectangular indention on the top of the lid? Either way - she's got way more time on her hands than I do ... ..
Need to paint or cover the lid
Looks cheap 😂
Yeah, people are really geniuses, aren’t they.
I’m sorry! Life is too short!
I think the headline is a bit of an oversell. Don’t do that; it just harms your reputation. "Genius’ is when you find a cure for cancer, not just cover the sides with spray glue and fabric.
I mafe a 😅
These people are "doing too much"
Jesus Loves you ❤️
Yeah.....i'll get back to ya.🙄
